Anyone recieve there Official Xbox Magazine with the beta disk yet? If so what are your initial impressions? I know that the magazine won't be on the shelf until the 17th but I hear that subscribers are getting it earlier.

Oh and I know, I know, supposedly the IQ of the average X-box gamer is nil, the FPS mentality of all Live gamers won't fit with the playerbase, we will make the game worse than ever, and all the other crap. Let's get that out of the way so there aren't a ton of posts about something that isn't even on subject.

So again. Anyone get there beta access yet?
 
Kurgon - is there a link where in I can find more information about the beta program? I'm assuming we can just setup our existing POL account and be good to go?
 
Well I picked up a copy of OXM and have the beta disk. I will be installing and updating it tonight. Assuming that they incorporated a screenshot utility and I can then export it to my PC I'll post up some full res screenshots. Hopefully there are some things that may impress visually.

Edit: Well reading through the magazine I notice some issues. They mention being a war/whm and Whm/war. They also say using a world pass allows you to switch servers without starting a new character. Hmmmm.

After reading the entire magazine article I can say that the author didn't play the game much and probably gleemed a lot of his info from the Brady Guide.

Daroth your friend does seem pretty excited to be ingame. Good energy. Did he shrink the pictures or is that the default resolution for screenies?

Yeah I want to see if it looks any different than the PC version with the registry changes.

Edit: While using a wireless keyboard I am noticing that there are a lot of errors. There seems to be a lag. Like during Playonline registration I would type maybe "Fernando" and certain letters would repeat like (Ferrnandodo). I may go buy a cheapie usb keyboard with a usb extention if wireless proves to continue with this problem.

No, i dont have reg changes, and it looks the same.
 
Right now I find that while moving things get pretty blurry. While standing still everything looks nice. I can't say that I have found anything that looks better than what I see on my PC but I am sure it is an improvment over PS2. The font needs tweaking. It can be very difficult to read.

No low level mob is unclaimed longer than 5 seconds right now. It is like a NM spawn. One person gets the claim and 4 other people walk away dissapointed. :D

I tried this already with a world pass, wont work i'm afraid :/

Your character can only be played on the "Hydra" server (Or at least thats what i'm on) and can only be used on the xbox360. I tried using the new content ID on my pc ffxi and it almost logs in but then gives an error. I also tried using my pc content ID on xbox360 and it does the same thing as it recognises it as an invalid ID. I'm sure the full version will allow console - PC crossover with Characters and ID's but unfortunately not with the Beta test.

Word of warning though, since a lot of ppl are now joining up with a new character of lvl1. You will probably notice that there isnt enough bunnies, worms, bees, mandys etc in Sarutabaruta, Ronfaure and Gustaberg to satisfy all the new players lol. Everyone is contesting each other for those low level mobs and you will find levelling 1-10 in any job atm a very long process. It's so funny to watch people getting pissed off with you cause you out claimed the ding bats that popped with 5 ppl camping it :D XD

Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 mouse. The best setup to have for PC gaming.

Yeah I have the G15 already but I use that on my pc not for my x-box 360.

Edit: Right now I am level 3, bought 3 fishing rods, 3 stacks of little worms, and am now farming enough money to head to Sandy so I can start catch moat carp at 10gil a pop. Just need my boat fare.

Most nOObs wont know about some areas that you can go to lvl at that range. my secret spot is still secure i'm sure ;)
 
No shit lol there are 200 people in South Gustaburg right now on the 360 server, 14 on quetz. thought id give lvling a shot but each Hornet claim is like a damn nm its crazy. Also did this get released earlier in japan theres a 49 bst running around and i doubt you could do that in the time since it was released in the us.
