Yep thats right they sold out already!!!!

Gamers were forced to think about their holiday shopping five months ahead of time this week when word began to spread that the Xbox 360 was no longer available for preorder at either of America's two top game retailers. C&VG cited unsourced "reports" as saying that "Stocks of Xbox 360 consoles are already critically low because of rampant preordering." Guess what? They're right...sort of. "We ran out of our first allotment, which is set by corporate [headquarters], earlier this week," said the manager of one San Francisco GameStop. "We just got the second one in, but we're almost at our limit again. We'll try and get a third allotment, but there's no guarantee those will arrive by Christmas." The story was much the same at GameStop's soon-to-be-subsidiary. "We ran out earlier in the week, but we just got another 25 [at this location]," said an EB Games manager, "but they are going fast." However, since neither EBgames.com nor Gamestop.com yet offers 360 preorders online, gamers will have to show up in person and plunk down a $50 deposit to ensure they'll have happy holiday seasons. As for reserving it somewhere else, good luck. As of press time, Amazon, Circuit City, and Best Buy are not taking preorders at this time. So either the shortage is real or the retailers are giving the hard sell. Do you want to take the chance?

Meh, I wasn't going to get one anyways, I'm just going to save my money for the far superior PS3.

Just looking at the tech specs, PS3 blows 360 out of the water. The only saving grace for the 360 is that it's coming out earlier and the halo series. If it wasn't for Halo, Xbox would have died fast.

Im not going to buy either... going to wait till prices drop. Thats mistake i mad on Ps2 bought 1st day, 6 months later half the price with an extra controller and few games -_-;. Not like i play video games these days anymore. But if i had a choice it would be Xbox 360, those Halo games trule show what teh Xbox is capable of.

Halo is overrated I perfer Half Life 2 any day.

Yes, but who will have the last laugh when PS3 owners have a boring Spiderman fonted sytem in their house while X360 owners have a different faceplate for each day of the week?

Oh yeah, PS3 owners cause their system won't suck. Ooh, burn.

As long as I am sinking a majority of my free time into FFXI I won't bother buying any of the next generation machines. See FFXI is saving me money. By the time I invest in these systems I will have a good idea which system is best for me and the prices will likely have dropped. It's win-win.

It's a shame Sony always overestimates their final specs and theres always something critically wrong with a first gen incarnation of any Sony product..

360

Well, when I'm not in college or waiting on tables, I work in a video game store. So of course, I get a lot of magazines and information from my job. The PS3 is gonna easily blow the revolution and 360 outta the water. The specks on this thing this amazing. I can't really say a lot about the systems or the information that I've read due to stupid workness x.x;

As for buying... well.. I think I'll wait. I really don't have the 500 dollars to blow on this thing when it comes out lol. For me, buying a ps2 revolved around FFX. I wanted to wait for a game I really wanted to come out and when FFX had a release date, I went shopping :). Now I hear FF series is moving back to Nintendo x.x; SE and Sony have been having a lot of issues lately.. thus making me a sad panda T_T!!! I guess we'll see what happens... But Nintendo Revolution has a built in emulator!!! <3!!! Excite Bike.. best NES game evar!!! Emulator goes from NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color and N64.

(btw 360 in our computers show a lovely price of $499.99... offical?)

For me it's not the specs, it's the price. At PS3 launch, am I going to pay $400-600 for a PS3 (depending on if it ships with the HD or not) or $200-300 (after price cuts, etc) for a 360?

HL2 > Halo, period. end of story ^^/

and than theres the half life mods ^^ but thats a new topic ;)

usually when new systems come out i eventually get all of them or at least the main ones, but with the way prices are, ill probably get one of them on the release date and wait for the other 2 systems to drop in price.

Tip for those who are trying to decide which console to buy FIRST.

The PS3 is already Guaranteed to have a number of large titles, and most of todays top companies are signed to sony.

The X-Box has no such promise. All we know for certain is more Halo.

You're better off getting the PS3, and waiting to see what happens with the 360. If it still looks good when you have the money, go ahead and get it. But i think its going to flop when all they can come up with is more Halo.

Yeah I was leaning towards the ps3. I've watched an E3 demonstration on it and its just crazy. The physics involved are amazing. The graphics and realizm is gonna blow the other two out the water.

I agree that it is pretty sad that Xbox relies on Halo for its success. If Halo came out for nintendo or sony, xbox wouldn't be were it is today. Though don't get me wrong xbox is a good system and it has other great games and the best online play. But theres not much promise when a system can only rely mostly on one game, which in my opinion is to overated. I'll probably get it anyway but im definitely gonna wait until the prices drop on it.

Actually, I am a store manager for Suncoast. We are part of the Musicland Company and all our stores are still taking reservations. There have been no cut offs for us at this time. So you can still pre-order at Sam Goody, Suncoast, On Cue and Media Play whichever is closest to you.
