With the 360 coming out this month, will we see an influx of players? Frankly, i didn't notice anything at the EU release, but kinda noticed it gradually whenever i met new players.

Or will SE notice that we're one of the least-populated servers and decide to dump everyone here? {That's Interesting.}

My understanding is that beta with the X-Box 360 client will start at release in Japan only. The commercial release will be ~3 months after that. The beta will be held on differenet servers.

I'm sure that if we are a lower population server we will be up for the "random" server selection. The higer pop servers will remain only available through WP.

The impact will probably be minimal at best. Paying for XBOX Live and the monthly FFXI subscription will keep people playing on their current PS2 and PC platforms. Besides being able to play FFXI in HD (on your HDTV) with voicechat capabilities and slightly better graphix.. unless you just have to have the next big thing, I don't think its worth the extra expense.

P.S.
LOL I'll prolly get it anyways :x .

You only need X-Box Live Silver (which is free) to access the FFXI servers so you will only be paying your normal monthly fees. X-Box live Gold is what you have to pay for and isn't required for FFXI. That is, of course, unless things have changed.

Great news my friend great news^^. Then for sure I'll be getting it. Couch and 60" Sony Wega HDTV vs. Computer chair and 21" Trinitron Monitor.. hmmmmm. I'm not looking forward to recreating my macros though. :x

They already stated FFXI on 360 won't support voicechat

Oops my bad, I was under the impression you could utilize the Xbox live voicechatting capabilities while playing FFXI...similar to using Teamspeak on the PC while playing FFXI. :?:

They want everything to remain keyboard input since most of there proof is through chat logs.

FFXI will be playable, and the only buyable and playable game on the xbox live silver service. Which is the free xbox live service.
Even if it was only playable on gold service most people wouldnt care since gold service is one flat fee that pays for the entire year and works for every game you buy for 360. Which is just about the same as xbox is currently, i paid 50 bux for the entire year and can play every game i buy on it.
i hardly think that would effect people who get ffxi. as ive played on both pc and ps2 platforms,
and plan on returning for the 360 release!

You will be able to talk to people on your X-box live friends list through x-box live, I think.

You can do that already provided that you have Xbox and XBL. My frieds and myself already do that when we are partying together and it makes it alot easier to just tell some one "hey I got 100 tp" "ok wait for the warcry and start" "gotcha" and the funny thing is when people that are in the party have no idea what's going on and you see in party chat "how do you know when to SC????" BLMs hate it when we forget to tell them about it.

Hmmm. maybe because your forgeting the largest damaging aspect of a skillchain

they only reason i would say it wont work is because if voice isn't supported in the game you can't control what room or even log into voice chat on xbox once you get into a game, it has the support it the use it.

I'll be back for the XBOX360 release for sure, I believe most of the people on the 360 version will be returning or existing players.

i dont think abot buying X-box 360 ... ill stay with my good old PC

Oh fun more people to make the servers slower...and seem more stupid XD, i like the xbox buit 90% of the people that i know that play it i would cry if they ever got on they would be askin me for stuff all the time. Although they will probley have that server change thing again, when they relese it on the 360. I was thinking of changeing from leviathan to quizy...but then i loose ALL of my friends on my server and at 62 thats kinda a big deal >.>

Best Buy has the demo units now. Bumped into the X360, when I was looking for a new DVD storage tower, and I'm impressed with the interface and controllers. Played a little Call of Duty 2 but got pwned coz I couldnt figure out how to get in the prone position XD. King Kong looks a bit unpolished, but they really make use of bump mapping and various lighting effects. The native HD aspect of it looks pretty sweet and I look forward to seeing it in my home.
