I just walked into a great deal for a pretty much new X-Box that I couldn't pass up. (X-Box, 3 games, controller, dvd attachment all for $100) I already have Ghost Recon 2 sold for $30 so it basically cost me $70 total. Now I need to ask in your opinions what are the best RPG & Action games out there for this system? I plan on getting Fable, Prince of Persia, maybe Ninja Gaiden, and I am on the fence about Bard's Tale. I hear that it is funny but the fighting system is clunky and the game gets pretty repetative. Also maybe a horror title as well. I saw Silent Hill 4 on the shelf and was tempted.

If you can't tell, I have been away from console systems since the demise of Playstation started (PS2 came out). Any suggestions will be appriciated. I am also thinking about KOTOR 2 but I might just wait until that is on PC. It will look better and should be slightly less buggy. (My friend has played it and said there were some bugs and it wasn't as good as the first.)

if you want a good action game, check out Otogi and Otogi 2, and Chronicles of Riddick is a great FPS . . .

I'm not going to do the standard OMFG HALOZ!!! KOTOR!!! plugs. Those should be already known to you.

Silent Hill 4 is damn fine, but you may want to check out a cheap copy of Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams . . . you should be able to find it cheap cheap and it's got more goodies than the PS2 Version . . .

also, if scarry games are your thing, both Fatal Frame games are also available on the XBox, and they are awsomely terrifying

MY EYES!!!!!

Fable is great, the only real problem is Xbox isn't big on RPGs...there's Fable, Marrow Wind, KOTR, and.....uh...well there's something else but I forget.

If you like RTS games, and bralwers, Kingdom Under Fire is cool, hard to get used to but cool.

I liked Bards Tale <3

Shennmue II <sp?> rocks...A LOT

I really liked GLADIUS for the XBox as well...and the SIMS BUSTIN OUT <3 Oh - and the Lord of the Rings games are AMAZING looking on the Xbox

I guess I should clarify a little. I really can't get into FPS at all. I like watching others play Doom, HL2, Call to Duty, Halo, etc but I just don't really like playing them. By action I meant more like side scrollers, or adventure/action type of games. I have KOTOR 1 for PC already.

A quick, off the top of my head. list of my PC games would be Baulders Gate 1/2 + expansions, Ice Wind Dale 1/2 + expansions, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind GotY Edition, Gothic II, Warcraft 3, FFXI of course  , Lineage II, Everquest II, ummm Diablo 1/2 + expansions, and older titles like Starcraft, Civilization II (which is still one of the best games ever), Fallout, etc... So from that list you can see much of my interest lies in traditional RPG's and Action RPG's with a little RTS (any game that comes close to the greatness of FF Tactics would be great or even Vagrant Story <3 ) Bah. Just keep 'em coming.

I guess I should get a Blockbuster account and start renting. Especially since they did away with late charges.

Edit: I will have to look into this Otogi titles...

Oh yeah one of the games I got with the purchase is Jet Set Radio Future... It's pretty fun actually. I am thinking it will get old really fast but it isn't too bad.

yeah.. Sega had a hit with the DC. I remember doing the JP online setup with the Broadband adapter and then playing Quake III. Everyone was pissed coz I kept killing everyone in multiplayer mode being the LPB i was lolol..  so much fun.

Phantasy Star Online on DC rocked as well.

Jen- Shenmue was awesome back in the day. It was a very immersive game.. I think one of the first of its kind. The xbox version is a continuation and is a little better graphically as well as faster in load times. I think it is actually a port of the DC version due to the announcement of Sega's farewell to the hardware market. Then again.. porting it wasnt that big of a deal since the DC ran on Windows CE or a Windows compatible OS. Yeah.. I think this is a little TMI. I go now.

OMG.. that Chainsawd was the SHIT! I had me one too hahaha. How about that Eggblaster!

Before they banned them Egg Blaster and Sonic Knuckles were the shiznite!

then there was the good old Heaven's Punisher . . . nothing like a little bitty pistol that rained purple bolts of sky doom down on your enemies.

Ah PSO . . . the addiction . . . the good times . . . the womb of the Prarie Bears . . . that damned game will always have a spot next to my heart

To be honest.. when the next reiteration of PSO comes to fruition. FFXI might be taking a back seat. I hear that PSO II will give FFXI a run for its money. I would very much like to resurrect my double saber thank you. :D

I played on the cube for a while, but sometimes when you DC, you lose everything, so I quit. As for PSO III, {card} {battle} {no thanks}.
But if they do drop a new one, I'll have to paly it as well.

MMMmmmmm Phantasy Star Universe . . . I require it to be a real RPG.

Because PSIV: End of the Millenium was just that damned good

And of course, when PSO 2 hits I forfeit the real world in advance

*Stares blankly at his copy of PSO I&II for Gamecube. Sets it back down to collect more dust.*

When I first got PSO for the GameCube I admit I played the fook out of it.. though I didnt go 'online' untill quite some time. Man, that game could have been so much better if it had better online support.. it was fun online.. but BSOD/DC = lose all unequipt items and that got old.. really really quick. So I stuck with single player for a while longer, then better games caught my attention.

I never even really touched the Episode II part of the game, untill some time after I had stopped playing the game altogether. And man.. ugh.. what a lameass rehash of the same stuff that was in PSO Ep. I. I coudnt even bring myself to play through the second stage.

PSO III = card battle.. a big FU to SonicTeam there.
