X360 worth it?

Yeah I know, there are reviews for it everywhere, but what can I say, I trust the opinion of some QCDNers way more than some dude who is just trying to write a review so that his editor doesn't fire him.

I finally got rid of my desktop PC for good, I have a capable laptop for my computing needs, and I am considering to either sell my Dell 2405FPW or keep it to connect an X360 to it one of these days.

If anything I would get the one with the HD and the wireless controllers.
I'd mainly buy it to play some games on during the free time that I currently don't have. It would be pretty much for inbetween semester use only. I wouldn't mind to play some Oblivion though and getting a PC on which this runs smoothly it out of the question.

Anyway, of those who actually have an X360, give me the good, the bad, and the ugly please.

Also, anyone ever bought a used console? I am considering it as the first used ones are around, but I'd would probably get new controllers, no amount of lysol is going to get gamer's sweat out of a used controller.

I don't own an Xbox 360...

But when I look at its game library, nearly everything so far is available on other systems (PC or Console), except a couple games like Kameo (SUCK) and PD Zero (also SUCK... RIP Rare).

No Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for any other console than X360 afaik.

But it's for the PC. And far superior as it comes with the TES Construction kit, allowing for community built expansions, enemies, models, weapons, etc.

Yes, when it comes to extensibility the PC wins hands down. I just don't think it will run well on my machine, but I guess spending $50 on a game just to find out it doesn't run all that great is better than spending $500 on a console that isn't all that useful in the end.

I don't know, I am just trolling a bit, I am currently game deprived and just looking for options once May 4th comes along and I am done with classes for this semester.

FWIW, I know of one person so far that's had one machine completely fail on them. The software library, for my money, isn't worth the cost of admission until Phantasy Star comes out for it either later this year or early next (there hasn't been any official statement AFAIK). FFXI should at least look hella sweet on it, though, if you wanted to pick that up again.

I don't own one, but I will. Then again, I have two Virtual Boys, so I'd buy it just because it's another game console. At this point, it's probably better to drop smaller coin on a PS2 and some games and get more enjoyment.

Quite honestly, Im holding out for PS3.

The simple history of the X-box is reason enough not to bother with the 360:

Xbox: A decent system. Almost exlusive to sports and racing games. There were a few, like Panzer Dragoon Orta that were ok.

Halo: It was a terrific game when it came out. But then Halo 2 came out and it was more of the same. I dont expect Halo 3 (if there will be one) to be much different than the origonal or 2.

PS3: The release date is much later than the 360, meaning that Sony has time to analyze the 360 and make the PS3 even better. Plus, the PS3 already has a larger library of different games compared to the 360.

Gundam: The new gundam game for the ps3 looks amazing. And just to shoot down some rumors, the screenshots and videos are actual in game footage. Not pre rendered FMV like most people (mostly Xbox supporters) have said.]

I own one and I'd say to at least wait for more titles to be released, the price to lower, or until the PS3 is released to compare the two. I use the 360 more to play the arcade games than anything else. I'm not a huge FPS type and there really aren't any games out right now that I feel like buying. I will be renting Fight Night 3 though. That demo is badass.

I was going to get Oblivion for the 360 but then upgraded my computer and decided the player made content was too good to pass up. So I have Oblivion on PC. I am patiently waiting on Enchant Arm, Blue Dragon, and Lost Oddssey.

It's not worth the plastic around the case.
Wrong.
The 360 is awsome its friend list features and gamerscore make it even funner
I dont think any system is better than the other Rev/ps3/360 all are awsome
I kill fanboys not saying your one though
*stabs a sony fanboy*

I love the 360, but thats because of the online play. Sony gives out so much crap before console launches that the only thing you can look at is the game library. Seeing as how the revolution is coming out around the same time the PS3 is (supposedly, atleast), and the 360 had the online play i wanted, i went with Microsoft insted of Sony this time.
In the end, a'course, it will all come down to exclusive games... IF Sony goes through with a good controller and the online play worthy of being called an xbox live competitor.

=) yes

xbox 360 is well worth it, those who are naysayers dont have one nor have sat down and learned to use one.
As an avid xbox 360 lover. It rocks. well worth it.
ps3, can wait.
HDD lies from sony sealed the grave for them, dont trust liars!

I hate microsoft but the 360 is a powerful piece of hardware. Granted, games for it aren't great and those that are are on PC or other systems.. but it's nice. PS3 will be the same pretty much (in terms of hardware) except it'll be better, supposedly, for HD TVs. However, it too seems it'll be expensive. personally.. computer is the way to go :P

There's something about the X-Box 360...

People either loved it or they hated it...

or they thought it was OK.

So I just looked over the Oblivion minimum specs, and I am kind of falling short of them. 2Ghz P4/Athlon required. Well I run a T2300 1.66Mhz dual core Pentium. Not exactly a P4, but arguably better than a P4, however 1.66Mhz is a bit of an issue. My gfx is fine (256MB X1400, and I have a gig of ram in here). I failed the hardware test at gamespot because of the CPU, but I will assume that they just look at the pure CPU speed and do not take into account that it is a new chip that will outperform an older 2+ Ghz chip without much trouble.

I may just buy Oblivion for the PC and sell it if it doesn't run properly.

there's a hardware test for it? cause I was tempted to buy it but I'd like to know if my computer will live up :D

I'd hold off on the XBox 360, personally. I don't own one, but I have played it in stores and at friends' houses. It's an impressive machine, I'll give it that, but its library is filled with either games available elsewhere (and $10 cheaper in most cases) or garbage. Just like my XBox, which I rarely play, it has a few good exclusive games for it (Ninja Gaiden comes to mind), but I don't think even an XBox is worth the purchase for just a couple of games.

If you're really big into FPS and Sports games, the XBox 360 might be your best decision soon, but you should probably wait for a larger library or something to compare it to (Playstation 3 or the Revolution). All the games on the XBox 360 that I'd want are already available on the PC or Playstation 2, so I don't really have much of a reason to justify purchasing one right now.
