I was wondering if I install ffxi on my xbox and just login.. does it auto unlock all the achievementsI have unlocked?
 
Access and unlock achievements through NPC Bard's who give titles.
 
Forgive me for being an XBox 360 n00blet....but I just got one for my 30th birthday (zomg yes i'm old!)

What's the point of all of the "achievements"? To demonstrate how big your gamer e-peen is?

At the moment it is yes, however, their soon to be bringing in a points for prizes scheme.

Yeah, gotta unlock for bard npc, took me some time to figure that out too when I got 360, but apparently there's an achievement for ToAU completed missions and I completed the missions but don't see that being unlockable when I talk to the bard again.
 
FFXI achievements are pretty crappy. You get like 150 points or so for getting a job to 75, or you can play something like Street Fighter 2 and get 200 points in a night. Kind of ridiculous.

That's like saying all retail games worth their salt have crappy achievements because you can blow through an XBLA games 200 in a night, while you'll generally only get about 50 in a retail.

It's actually only 30 points (out of 1000) for job 75. :shok:

Heh, I think you missed the point. I was just pointing out that if you're after achievement points, there are much easier ways of going about acquiring them. You could spend several years getting all of the points from FFXI, or you could spend a few days in other games to get the same amount of points, if not more.

I was in no way insinuating that the amount of achievement points you get from a game is directly related to the quality or the price of the game. :)

Another thing that's crappy about FFXI achievements is that they're all hidden, and even if you unlock them, nobody can see which ones you've unlocked.. unless they've unlocked the same achievement, too. It's kind of silly since the achievement thing is supposed to be for pimping your skills or dedication to a game.
 
Well, I have 6160, and I noticed a friend of mine has over 33k. The average on my FL is about 10k, so your friends must not play much lol.

I think I have just under 1.2k guess that means I don't play enough.

I just use the Achievements to see what games people have. Like Icewolf likes to play Guitar Hero II : P
 
I won a copy of XBox 360 FFXI a few months back from some Anime festival in Long Beach, CA

I now have myself an XBox 360, but haven't put FFXI on it yet. Once I do, though.....will I get "points" for everything I've done in my FFXI career up to this point?
 
If they are actually point worthy, yes, you should.

Also, if you plan to play other games besides FFXI, I would get the 100gb hd. FF takes up a veritable shit ton of room on the 20gb hd. I may have to go buy a new HD and put FFXI on that and leave my original hd for my regular games.

Yep, as long as you check the title bard and go to unlock achievements. Most achievements are lvl 75 jobs and beating the stories.

prizes have been going on, started about a year ago. I already won some MS points, Contra for XBLA and some gamerpics.

And the achievements are nifty little things that give you other goals to shoot for in games that would otherwise have no purpose in trying, Like bowling over 10 zombies in dead rising etc.
