xbox 360 review/questions?

I've got a 40" HDTV, and it looks amazing. I defenitly recommend either component or DVI if you're TV supports it. Thats one upgrad that will make a larger visible difference then anything else.

Also, I've always had my system set to use 1080i since I play other games that support that res, but I don't think the xbox converts games that don't natively support it. Just to see I switched it down to 780, which is what ffxi is said to support, and I can't tell any difference.


Can anybody provide some info regarding the HD-TV add on coming out this fall? I'm curious what exactly this is going to be.
 
1080i will always look better than 720p when not in motion.

As soon as you start moving you'll see the very, very little lines.

My 360 is set to 1080i. But i wanted to know if the game goes to 1080i automatically or if you have to put it in the ingame menu.
 
afaik there is no in-game menu with that option is there?

Hi Negorissimo, it's in the X360's system setup that you can change resolutions.
I believe it's a system wide setting so once you switch all games will be upconverted/displayed in that native resolution.

Btw, I do notice this line-scanning problem from time to time, on both 720p and 1080i. I don't know what it is.. it also appears on the official xbox360 trailer haha... :wink:

As for digital inputs so far I am only able to use my PC connecting to my LCD TV via 720p_DVI that's about it (also have line-scanning issue).

From what I read Microsoft might be releasing a HDMI cable for the HD-DVD come November but that could just be rumors.
For now, the only options for video outpus are the analog VGA and component.

Ah, then i have it set already. I had my 360 set to 1080i when i bought it last year. ^^

I tought it was in-game. thx Ubuntu
