I just got a Xbox 360 a few days ago, and ive heard about how people's disks get scratched up.. now I take care of everything I have, so I wanted to make sure that I didnt 1)get a defected system or 2) do anything to cause scratches.. so I did some research and I came up with this website..

watch the vid, and listen to the painful sound of what happends to a xbox dvd/cd when you move it...

Why would you be moving a system while playing it anyhow... I have played on 360 and its been fine for m adleast. Only a few rules dont move system while playing and also its better to have it flat than standing up. There have been times I ran the system 12hrs + no problem. Anyhow that disk got messed up in that video lol.

PC still beats ps2 and 360 tho

yea I kno, just want a alternative for trips and such.. , im careful with all my crap.. just dont want my $50 cd getting scratched to hell

so you say, its better horizontal then vertical?

I would like to point out that the first xbox360 console I got scratched the disks on its own. It happened whenever I shut down ffxi and went to the xbox screen (where you get demos, talk with friends, etc.). At the time I thought it was just noise, but then FFXI would no longer load, I checked out the disk and it was a mess.

In the end I had the warranty (thank god) so I was able to get a new xbox which hasn't scratched the disk yet, and doesn't make the noise. Only draw back was that the bastards made me pay another $30 to get a warranty on the new console.

SO, if you hear your xbox making loud clicking noises a lot, check your disk.

Edit: Just read the bottom portion of your post, I kept it horizontal, so you may want to try vertical

Put the Xbox 360 Horizontal, that's how I have it. I know it looks cool standing but It's safer for the DVDs the other way.

Get a game boy.

The 360s are way to expensive and fragile. The DS and PSP were made for travel and the DS has some great games. (Still waiting Sony.)

If anything, spend 50 bucks on a gamecube and take that. I've knocked my gamecube to the floor on accident a few times and it still works great. (Lies, it was no accident... you know what you did gamecube.)

As for the horizontal/vertical, I agree completely with Neg. Vertical = teh coolness, but horizontal is safer and better for the disc, as it greatly lowers the chance of it being knocked over.

I have also noticed that the 360 will leave scratches on your disks if you power it down with the disc inside actively spinning. Remove your disks then power down. :D

I have a 360 and had no problems with it whatsoever. One of the best things I have ever bought and couldn't part with it now. I like how everyone playing an 360 game is playing on the same piece of hardware so there is a level playing field. With PC gaming the hardware varies so much that PC gaming will never have that.

I got my 360 in the big April shipment, and if i tilt it on accident or on purpose while a disk is spinning the piece of plastic that houses the laser scratches the shit out of the disk... /goodbye Need for speed most wanted ; ;

A suprising number of older CD drives would do the same thing, moving them while in use would screw the royal hell outa CDs.
