Alright so I just bought this game on ebay for 50 bucks since I LOVE PS1 RPGS(dont we all...) and it has great reviews from critics and fans alike. Was also thinking about getting Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden 2, and all those rare games, but I'm not paying 200 bucks for ANY game. I even saw some for 700 bucks(wtf), those will have to wait until they hit PSN(dear god I'm hoping SCEA is smart and will come through on this).

But ya, can you guys give me some thoughts you have on the game please? It'll get me even more pumped up to play it in a couple days :biggrin:.
 
Pretty good. First disc is great and second disc has a massive drop in playability (prepare to see that in almost anyone you ask). I made sure to make a save file in the first arena where you use your gear, because that is the most fun part of the game.
 
Yeah my friends and I would play that for hours. Its like having its own fighting game. I made a seperate save file just for the purpose of playing that lol. The story is pretty good. A lot going on so be ready for that. Its also challenging or at least for me it was. Yeah you don't play much on disc 2 but it still wraps up important things in the story so its still important.

As I said, this is the BEST RPG in terms of story and such :P the only problem is the second disk is a drastic lack of gameplay compared to the first :( this is due to Squaresoft rushing them to complete it.. still fun though <3
 
Yeah, Disc Two is a massive failure. I never bothered to finish the game because of it. Everything leading up to that was great.

I have no doubt they'll release it on PSN at some point. Hell, they're preparing to release the original PS1 version of Final Fantasy Tactics, and it sucks donkey nads compared to the recent PSP translation.
 
disk 2 isnt that bad... the game just goes in a way different direction...
how the hell can you get to the 2nd disk one of the best rpgs ever and then just leave it like a cheap skank?
thats just terrible. i would highly recommend playing all the way through, multiple times even
 
Great game and good buy I'd say. I loved the storyline and everything. I want a lil chu-chu! ; ;

It was just... inept. When the developers stopped taking the game seriously, I followed their cue. I could be tempted to try it again if it landed on the PSP -- being able to put the machine to sleep as needed is the only way I could put up with those 30-minute cutscenes a second time -- but the memory of that second disc gives me pause.

Even so, it's still definitely worth an RPG fan's time.

And in hindsight it's understandable; however, at the time, it was too much like plowing throught War and Peace and discovering the last 100 pages had been replaced by a child's drawing of the action. It was jarring and took me out of the story. I quit and moved on to another game. I still consider it one of the greatest disappointments of my gaming career.
 
Ya, I can see your point :( that's why Xenogears is one of the most requested games to be remade. FF7 was first, Xenogears was second, in that list of "what games people want remade" when SE did a poll thing.

why would square make a poll like that, and then crush people's dreams by saying they won't remake FF7 :nono:

square never said that they wont make a remake of FF7, they just said currently they are not. and with their lineup coming out its apparent they are busy as hell.
however, remakes are in squares DNA, and a remake for FF7 will be here one day..
 
I want a Xenogears remake more. FF7 is fine, Xenogears needs completion :D

I should've said "landed on PSN so I could play it on the PSP." Then I could just put the PSP to sleep if I need to take a break from a really long cutscene. If they release the PS1 Xenogears to PSN, I'd probably buy it and play through it again.

I've been playing Final Fantasy 7 since it came to PSN -- I know I sound like I hate the game half the time, but mostly it's just that I don't love it as much as Final Fantasy 8. I didn't find out until last week that save files could be transferred from PSP to PS3 and back again, so I'm glad to have that option.
 
Best game ever, even after the 2nd disc slowdown D;
