Is this a good rpg?

Thats a lotta good RPGs coming out. I gotta rom Valkyrie Profile before 2 comes out :<

You can't play 3 and skip 2, lol... it's so plot based. 2 is a necessary evil.

There's also the port of the first one for PSP, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth that recently released or releasing soon, but who has a psp? :P

I know I sure as hell don't want a PSP though, unless somehow Konami decided to release the Suikoden I/II ports stateside, but highly unlikely.
Nintendo DS is where it's at!

Xenosaga I and II are alright, KOS-MOS, Ziggy and Jr. make it fun. I cant wait to play III coming out in about a month or so. But really, you should probably play Xenogears first. ( story wise it is after Xenosaga, but I think you'd build a better foundation of it if you played it first.) Picking out Xenogears stuff in Xenosaga is always fun. The music in Xenosaga 2 is amazing. but its a short game ( 20 hours if you dont do any extra stuff)

If you'd want to skip the first one, they did make a speical edition colberation of all the cut sceenes and all that you can watch, ( most likely downloadable somewhere) or you can watch "xenosaga the animation" 13 episode long anime basically tells the story if you dont want to play the game. Hopefully they will do the cut sceene thing for Xenosaga 2 when 3 comes out.

overall if your still unsure. just play Xenogears and watch the Xenosaga Anime./ cut sceene disk and try xenosaga 2 cause its only 20 hours.

I played through and beat the first Xenosaga game, and I'm halfway through the second one, but still need to get back to it and beat that one. I really enjoyed Xenosaga though. The CSs were one of the best parts. I mainly love playing RPGs for the CSs and storylines. All those CSs were amusing to me.

Some of the battles were quite challenging though in the game, so it is a somewhat challenging RPG too.
 
I quit after the first episode. I'm not a fan of shamelessly hooking people into buying a 150 dollar anime series. The gameplay is nonexistant and the issues tackled are unbelievably derivative. Square did the right thing in cutting this team off after it got too long in the mouth. Their best work far behind them, the team resorted to milking a fanbase who gets by accepting bait as full courses and pseudoscience convolution as plot thickening. The only thing this team good at is drawing out a buck to make up for them going over budget and over schedule in their epic story that goes nowhere until they run out of money.

Xenogears was a shadow of what it could have been had this team had a producer to reign in their bull**** ambling and utter lack of direction. And Xenosaga has all of the babble with none of the restraint that comes with developing for a mainstream company.

Niche is good, but this is trash. Xenosaga should have been an anime series, and this team needs to get out of the gaming industry.

Edit: I guess it's worth 10 bucks a piece though. It's playable.
