Had the misfortune of meeting this person in Monastic Cavern tonight. After MANY MANY hours total trying for my coffer key we finally got it tonight (Thank you PhoenxRising!! I <3 you guys!!! ) So I decide to hang around and look for my coffer.

Jag was kind enough to point out the spawn points and then I just hung out...basically running a big circle. After about 30 minutes or so I get a /tell from Xera (level 60 thief) who had checked me earlier. He/she asked if I was looking for a coffer..I replied yes and asked if they were doing the same. We agree to let each other know if we find it. About 15 minutes later he finds the coffer...I came around the corner just after he opened it and /clap and /cheer 'ed him. I then mentioned in my ls that someone had just popped the coffer. They asked if the person were doing if for AF (I had assumed they were). I sent Xera a /tell asking if it was for their AF and he/she said "no, just screwing around". I then tell him that I needed if for my AF and that if I had gotten it the coffer would've respawned within 5-10 minutes (dunno if that's the case but that's what I've been told) but since he opened it I would now have to wait another 45 minutes or so probably for another spawn. He apologized. I thought that was the end of it. I continued to run around and at almost exactly 45 minutes i hear a coffer open. My heart SUNK! I do a search of the area and Xera and I are the ONLY one's there. He popped it KNOWING I needed it for AF. This guy is an ass as far as I'm concerned. I sent him a /tell asking if he'd gotten another coffer and he didn't have the guts to answer me. I was so pissed I logged but before I did I told him I hoped he choked on his 10k and he could have the rest of the damn coffers for the night.

Well this is why half the jobs hate us, fucking douchebags like him who can't even handling getting their 24 sub up to 30 to match their 60 main.

It's bad enough he took one coffer with someone hunting for AF, it's worse he took yet another after having a little convo. Selfish pricks like him don't level subs, don't get good equip for the good of the group since they only care about themselves, leave after they level, never take a fall for someone else even if it was their fault. The kind of attitude that's harmful to FFXI as a whole, I'd expect any one who is a productive and helpful member of the FFXI community to agree.

Screw him for embarrassing the thief job class in several ways. Don't invite this disgrace so he can progress if it's in your power please. Once a selfish prick always one.
 
What do you even get from coffer's there? Aside from AF...
 
I hunt them if no one is in the zone hunting them on occasion, you get 9-12k or a physical earring worth 10k and hard to sell, it's not worth the time to screw someone over for.

LOL!!! I was telling Kiere she should introduce him to the "Orcish Gangbanger". The only problem was, she couldn't find the asshole... Besides, if she did something like that, SHE'D be the one in the wrong and knowing the wonderful GM's, SHE'LL get into trouble for it.

Anyway's this guy is a fuck that needs to die and as Jag mentioned, he is a 60THF/24NIN. A greedy bastard that instead of leveling his sub, he is stealing coffers. What we should do is, one day that he is LFG, invite him, get to our camp and disband his ass. Then we can tele off to our REAL destination. :twisted:
 
Xera still owes Kiiro, Jajaj, myself and Trancos money from BCNM -_- only Jakers got some of the money... such bullshit.... blah -_-
 
In this guy's defense, they moved the only hard to get coffers worth picking into frickin Den of Rancor. Thief is an expensive job. He's trying to make money so maybe he can buy gear for his main job or sub job to level it (ninja is expensive you know). Not saying he did an honorable thing I'm just trying to point out his possible point of view.
 
he's an ass.. for 8 months or so.. he has owed money from BCNM... where we got Erase from his orb >.> he was supposed to sell and split... he's a fucktard

Yeah I can see that the FIRST time. But after we spoke and he apologized (eh fuck you Xera!) he does it again!?! Fuck that!
 
The first time is forgivable, but realy how much profit DO they make off those coffers, they get like 10k? I thought the keys themselves where a couple of k.
 
5000-6000 gil.. maybe sometimes up to 9000 for certain places.. I know the coffer in boyahda tree was 9000ish

But if I'm farming davoi which I do once in a blue moon I will more than likely visit the cavern once every 45 minutes aside from my farming. However it must be empty and no possible AF hunters.

Rng,thf,blm that I know of, so I stay away if these jobs are 50-60 which they almost never are, so there are plenty of non competive times to go just because the key is such a bad drop.

I also find it bad someone has time to level their main but not their sub, it's like a double standard almost. Not to mention ninja is almost not worth subbing with at least /25 for dual wield II, which helps thf gain tp by 10% from dual wield I.
 
I checked the coffer pops once running through for my G3. I popped it right as someone uninvised. I apologised and left to go die 3 times in the high lvl davoi area.

It's true that THF/NIN get's REAL expensive but he could have let one go so Kiere can get her item. There is the fact that the first one to spot a coffer can or should access them, if they have the means. However, this person agreed with Kiere to let her know when one is spotted or if one was recently opened so they won't bother checking that location... avoiding possible death. If anything, he should have let her have the first one and she would be gone. No more competition and it would have made him look like a really good person.
