Well here is how it goes:

I log on, 5seconds later I get a party invite from good ol' Moch. I accept of course and the party is like this.

PLD/WAR
RDM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BRD/WHM
(that's alot of /whm ^^;)

Amazing party we are chaining 5 constantly no other parties here. Then one other party our level shows up. Both parties are fighting Proc---.... Crawlers, down the waterfall and through the woods. That is fine there is enough for us 2.

Another party 64-66 show up. We don't care cause they will be XPing off of Skimmers, and maybe the odd Crawler for TP. They kill a skimmer or 2 with ease. Then all of a sudden, hey just start killing all of the crawlers, with Skimmer galore all around. They would be fighting a Skimmer and a Crawler would pop, so the mages would sleep that until the Skimmer was dead then proceed to the Crawler.

We informed them that it bothered us, when they could obviously chain skimmers without a problem. They probably thought it was funny that we didn't like it so they kept doing it.

We pulled everything we had out of our asses, and finally got them to stop pulling our crawlers. They leave no biggie. The other party leaves no biggie. We are back to chaining 5... Then of course my best buddy that I haven't seen in a year calls and I need to go, but that isn't the point.

Was it wrong to be upset that they were pulling the crawlers because they were pricks or were we just over reacting to having competition...

Shitty screen shot sorry, I was trying to pull. But that is the 64-66 party fighting a Crawler, with a Skimmer RIGHT beside it. Now our party even picked up pops of Crawler in their party, when they already had one slept. So I saw no reason for them to be doing this....

I would like your imput thanks.

Sorry to hear Neche. This is another thing that has changed soooo much since my time xping. We would always do a area check for levels and see how many parties were in a place before we'd go there.

Personally I feel you have every right to be upset. You were there first. Those people should've done a check and when they saw there were already 2 other parties there:

A. Went somewhere else to xp or,
B. Found another camp in the Tree

It's very rude to do stuff like that. Anyway, that's my opinion on it. People are just totally rude 9 times outa 10 these days, and just don't care who they screw in the process.

Well Neche here's the thing. There are only so many places to XP at your Lv. Bibiki only supports 2(3TOPS), Den of Rancor supports 2, and The Tree supports about 4-5. Places are limited so then places become packed. If they wanted to kill crawlers they had every right to. They pay to play and kill the same mobs you do. If you don't like them kiling your crawlers pull faster, time pops and know the pop locations of the next mobs or leave. Often time my static PT gets underway at peak times however, we will out pull anyone based off those key things and run as many out as possible. This ensuring us a lovely night of XP that is fast and plentyful. I think you are angry because mabye you think they could have taken higher stuff. In that case I'm 67 and my PT still does Crawlers because they are very fast kills and can rack up 20-25k XP in no time still getting chain 5's (since the xp increase patch for chains) for 225-230. The game is a competetion no one is going to stop leveling because a RDM is angry or change areas to fit your need. Don't like whats going on just go somewhere else regardless of being there first. I wont send my pt to a populated area to just move people out or camp on them until they get angry and leave but, if we kill faster forcing them out it's not rude it's what happens when a good PT comes in that not only plays well but think well and ahead. Next time just kill faster you are not an almighty claimer of territory and mobs. You must show the PT's that the XP wil be slim for them then they will move out leaving you be. Just my opinion though. If all options are full no prob they had every right. Yet if there is 1-0 Pt's in Bibiki and 5-6PT's in The Tree, that's just stupid but you can always move ^^;

What he said

Unfortunetly I have to agree Strid on this point. :?

Of course there could always been the alterier motive of stopping all of the mages their level range from moving past them and ensuring that forming PT becomes more difficult for them.

But seriously, with a cannon PT like that, I wouldn't be suprised if they looked at you guys and said "Shit, we need to claim everything we can now before the BLMs get it. o.0"

If I see a cannon PT in the area, I know my PT will have to be rather dubious to get any of the mobs in the area. Probably a shared sentiment with alot of people.

Oh yea, I agree with Strid as well. I mean, sure it's free territory, kind of like waiting for a NM to pop, who ever gets it, gets it. But I'm positive they were just doing it to be pricks...

Anyway. -bump

That's sort of like the level 73-75 JP pt that was exping off of Catoblepas in Bibiki Bay the other day. Difference was they were killing slower than me, gimpest PT I've ever seen before.

War(L73) - Gigant Axe(L49), Royal Knights Chainmail(L55), Plate Leggings(L40)

SMN - Austere gear, level 14 MP+2 rings.

PLD - Phalanx Rings, Heater Shield(L43), Byrnie(L60)

It's common courtesy to not crowd someone else's camp, and common sense to check how many parties are in a spot before going there. I remember being ~68-69 and fast chaining tormentors in den when another party arrived (we were almost waiting on pops before they got there) I was on bard, and used similar tactics to the party you encountered. I would sleep lizards as they popped, and we drove the party away.

Do a search of the area before you go, if you are in a location with multiple camps, ie moon, have the leader put your location in their search comment to make it easy for other parties to pick their own camp.

It would be great if people would check a zone before they came to camp. Unfortunately, some people don't know they can do that or just don't care about getting crap exp and screwing other people over.

It sucks that they moved in on your camp, I've had that happen to me before. While it's true that all mobs are free game, people should at least be polite enough to just kill a whole bunch of toughs that other people are exping off of when there's other mobs they can take.

At the same time though there are people who think like I do. I would rather kill alot of VT and T for more overall xp, less danger, and better chains than kill 4 ITs and have to rest. I still dont think its right that they tried to crowd you out, but thats the reason I use this method in less heavily camped areas.

But one of the problems is, if you are on primetime, there's a good chance you and another pt are going to the same camp at the same time. When was the last time you searched Sanctuary of Zi'tah for people your lvl in pt? You don't. You search Boyahda Tree, see none and leave. Do you keep searching? Most don't. So, searching the area first doesn't always work. And I've gotten to camps where people had just escaped from a bad link. Is it their camp when they come back?
Also, how do you know what the pt was saying in party chat? Maybe they were having troubles with skimmers. Or didn't like the AoE. Maybe they knew they'd never get past chain 2 with the amount of magic the mages were using. I've been in pts that preffered the really easy 100-180 exp to the better 180-350 exp. Why? Because they could chain it continuously without any downtime. Fast chain 9's vs slow chain 4's. Not all of us have the chance to do cannon parties unlike SOME people. These kinds of pts are as close as most can get to massive amounts of exp with the least amount of downtime.
But this is just my opinion.

I'm sorry, what server do you live on again?
Does this actually happen?

Also, it's not like you own the mobs when you enter an area first, or even last. There are like 20,000 people who play on this server, 2200+ at any given time. There's only so much room sometimes.

On the other hand, if it was spite they stayed, just say fuck it and (eventually sometimes) just move on.

We play on a server known as Quetzalcoatl. Most intelligent party leaders will use the novel approach of searching a potential xp area before they actually leave jeuno. This isn't done out of just courtesy, but so that a good party will have plenty of mobs with which to xp on.

Oh, I'm not arguing that bit. I'm saying there aren't that many of those kinds of people; hence, it is not "common" courtesy.
