I am going to Iraq in about a month from now as some of you know. I am looking forward to going as I have wanted to serve my country since I was a small kid looking up to my mom and da who were both in the Navy. After my freshman year in college (which coinsided with 9/11) I decided to take a year off of school to make money and to think about what I wanted to do with my life. About 9 months later I decided to re-enter the military on a series of medical waivers and came in as a 97E (Human Intel Collector / HIC / Interrogator) and underwent a year and a half of training. This training envolved an extensive interrogator course in Arizona and a year long language course in Monterey, CA where I learned Persian-Farsi. That training has been over for the last 9 months or so and now it is my turn to take that vacation trip across the pond to that place known as Iraq.

I know I have been an ass lately on the boards, and I would like to take this time to say I am sorry. I have been stressed out lately, not in fear of what is to come but from the process of getting ready to get there. I would like to reitterate a couple of points if I may:

I do not presume to be some kind of uber-patriot for enlisting after 9/11. I was in the Reserves before that took place and this event reminded me of what I wanted to do with my life. Everyone should serve their country in some way as we all have to work to keep it free for ourselves.

Game related, I never bought gil, so Vang the Wang you can go stick your wang up your a$$ and go back to your fiancee and kids. I pray for people like you, and I realize that I most likely will not be in the prayers of those like you but I do not care. We are still brothers in gods eye and for that I will always respect those who are jerks to others.

(If you are not Christian please do not take offense to what I have said as I do not mean disrespect for your own religious beleifs)

I have been wanting to quit now for quite some time but my friends are what kept me here. Unfortunately too many have quit and this game has not appealed to me in quite some time. With the help of my friends I have been able to accomplish the following in the last 1.75 hears or so:

Combined total of 200+ days of playing days. It would seem to be a huge waste to delete these two character (on same account) so I would ask that anyone who knows me to hold on to these guys until I come back next year. You would be free to lvl any job that is not already 50+ as I would want to level these myself when I come home. We can work out monthly payment details (on Squares end) but I do not want to sell these guys, period. I am sure FFXI will be around in a year and I am sure this break will probably get me interested in the game again.

Maseki for inviting me to NH and having me along for my one and only god run (It was to boring to ever want to do that again). Maseki had a very bad rep about a year ago for MPK people and what not. I just don't see it in this guy. He is a lvl 75thf now who leads his HNM LS for almost no personal gains. THF gets jack and shit in Sky yet he pounds away every week helping his friends. My hat off to this guy. He even camps his knife by himself so I cannot really see why he does it... Except to help his friends.

There are many many others but I am having a temporary brainfart.

Gonna miss ya man, we've been through a lot of levels together. I hope for the best for you while you're gone and look forward to your return, and not just to see you hop on your characters again. Make us proud over there!
 
I'm in the military as well, and may be headed over there myself sometime down the road. (not set in stone yet) I hope you'll be ok over there, and try and keep in touch any way you can. Sorry for not having more to say, words are not always easy for me in these circumstances. Take care.

Now class this is what we call a karma surge. This takes place when someone makes a drastic post that appeals to the sensable and is written out very thoughtfully and in good taste.

The results tend to be everyone can't wait for them to come back. :wink:

Either way I am from Indiana, country boy, Im about as Republican and Pro Military as it gets. Love my country maybe too much and love my soldiers and wish them all well. Be safe and god bless :wink:

It is because of the sacrifices made by our soldiers of yesterday, today and tomorrow that those of us in the free world are able to go about our lives taking a simple thing like freedom for granted.

agh! Such a sad thing to come back from my leave of absense and see. Not that I didn't half expect it, though. >_> I hope you'll be around for one more day, because I plan to PM some contact info so you can e-mail me and Osse at the very least . . . well, as soon as I find out what our new e-mail is anyway.
