This guide right here helped me install it pretty painlessly.

You're going to need a usb jump drive and a DVD burner for this to work. You do NOT have to be that good with computers for this to work. I'd never used Linux before in my life and I got this working.

Now you've got Linux... next up...

SUPER NINTENDO on your PS3!

If you get a bug, as I did, when installing...

Solution is here.

And last step, when Wii jerks come at you saying PS3 sucks, mention the fact you're playing every SNES game for free on your PS3, while they're waiting for them to be released for Wii so they can pay for them.

I'll update when they get a working Yellow Dog Linux emulator for N64. There are regular nintendo ones and sega ones out there that I don't care about... although I may go for sega eventually to get sonic the hedgehog.

Been doing that for years on my PC and PS2, it's nothing special.

Interesting find on the modification for the PS3 though. I wouldn't think you'd be able to modify it that much so quickly.

Neat thing here is that Linux is actualy supported by Sony, insead of being a homebrew that gets nerfed every time you do a firmware update.

Can do it on my PC too, yeah.

Not so sure how to do on PS2.

I like it on a console however. Can get it playing on my big TV, can use a controller, sit back on the couch and play just like it was a SNES.

I assume that's the reason people want to buy the same games they already have for earlier gen systems for the Wii when they could just play an emulator. Just pointing out that PS3 can replicate the functionality.

Well, one problem with using ROMs is some of them are corrupted or broken and are completely unplayable or just don't work after a certain point, plus there's always the risk of a virus or something when you download anything. I don't mind paying a few bucks for a game that's guaranteed to work and be safe, the convenience of being on my TV doesn't mean all that much to me, since I have a adapter to use my ps2 controller with my PC.

As far as the PS2 method, it's similar to what you're doing with the PS3. You have to have a hard drive in the PS2, and then use the memory card "hack" to be able to load the emulating program off the hard drive.

There are 4 Snes games I actually wanted to play and got em all already.

Super Mario
Mariokart
super metroid
castlevania 4

Not hard to get off a big rom site that is trustworthy.

Don't know, I don't really agree with being charged for games I've already bought years ago just to be able to play on a current medium. Sell an adaptor to be able to upload games onto the Wii that can read NES-N64 cartridges... that'd be worth buying.

I don't even mind paying for old games again (hell, I do it just about with every SE remade game), it's just that I'm only willing to pay so much for certain games. The way the virtual console has it set up is that game prices are based on the console the game originally appeared on and not the quality of said game.

There really aren't a whole lot of NES games I'd pay $5 for, but the ones I would pay that much for I'd probably be willing to pay somewhere around $15~30 for. Kind of gets to the point where I'm shooting myself in the foot, though, but... this is assuming I get access to the actual cartridge. Throw in the fact that it's emulated and I'm not willing to pay more than maybe $9 for a single game. There are plenty of SNES games I'm pay upwards towards $60 for (also assuming cartridge), so, yeah... >_> None of them are on the Virtual Console, though.

EDIT: Also, the link mentions SDTV. Does this work on HDTVs?

That's cool. Guess I'll have to go out and steal a blank DVD from a friend.

Sony supports Linux, so you're fine. I just personally didn't want to go through figuring out how to install Linux all on my own.
