Scientists at the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition have found a way to use the tongue to give soldiers extrasensory abilities. A device known as "Brain Port" provides users with owl-like 360-degree vision at night. It gives Navy SEALs whale-like sonar capabilities that allow them to navigate without using a compass -- or even their eyes.

I'm wondering if this techonology could also be used for the blind. Now that would be trully remarkable.

That's pretty badass. Sensory other than taste with the tongue. I want to see that in action though and see how a person interprets the data sent to their brain from their tongue. Will they all of a sudden get a huge urge to turn around and shoot something? lol

On a lighter note, do you think it will come in assorted flavors?

Maybe it will trigger a certain flavor in your brain on what you should do. I hope "Shoot the guy behind you" comes in Orange flavor. Yum!

What it basically is, is a sonar that transmits electrical stuffs to your tongue that your brain decodes and forms into images I guess. The people that used it just said they sensed the people around them and one guy found an object we was looking for with ease under water. I guess they're going to have a camera for it too but the people that used it didn't mention it.

This is really cool and I want one :( lol

I'm more interested in the possible blind getting sight. I have a friend that had a bad bout with antibiotic toxicity and almost lost his sight.

I can't use the link, but when I put my mouse in my mouth, I can sense what the article is saying . . .

I merely licked the hyperlink
