I say AV is the hardest boss on any FF so far. Anyone disagree?

FFXI isn't comparable to offline games in any way, shape, or form.

Sure it does. FFXI has airships. So does FFVII, FFVIII, don't remember bout 9, FFX, FFX-2, and FFXII.

You know what i meant..........

I nailed this bugger. Didn't take many tries, just a little bit of luck. Invincible moon ftw. That and squall's uber limit break (the name of which I don't remember - probably lionheart or something).

As for ozma - That's one I didn't beat. I kept getting nailed by meteor and seeing four "9999"s pop up. SO annoying. Maybe I'll try again some day.

For the most part there are only two hard bosses I've beaten: Omega(VIII) and Nemesis(X). All bosses in XII beaten, but none were really hard IMO. I can only hope I got close on Ultima(VII underwater). I nailed him with like 24 summons of KotR...still alive and kicking and then he breaks out his uh....shoulders and hits my fully leveled party for 9999 each. I didn't have enough time to break out pheonix if I remember correctly.

Another thing that helps is to use the final attack materia combined with a maxed full revive. That way when he blasts you with that move, all your characters get right back up. Least thats how I survived anyway. Plus I had mimic KotR so I just spammed that and omnislash after using hero drinks to up the damage.

Ruby Weapon was a challenge for me because he used that quicksand move on Barret and Cid at the beginning so throughout the whole fight, it was Cloud vs Ruby one on one. That fight was about hour long which was considered long back in its time. That battle was so hectic and I had to watch carefully with how I used spells and limits. That one you couldn't use KotR because he counters with ultima. But that fight went on so long that he eventually ran out of mp and was finally able to finish him off with it.

Ruby Weapon was a bazillion times harder than Emerald.

I took down Emerald without using any Summons and without Underwater materia. =/

Also, Omega weapon was a total wuss if you knew his pattern and when to use Defend. Sure, he could still instant nuke your party if you were unlucky, but that can happen with all of these super bosses (one time when I tried to show off my Emerald ownage I got double Aire Tam Stormed - while only two characters died, I couldn't recover fast enough).

And Ozma was a bitch. That fight was like 90% luck. =/ One of my hundred or so Ozma attempts, he literally did nothing but Curse. -_-;

Yeah that's why I hated Ozma so much, the curse shit ruined it, lol.

As far as Emerald and Ruby, for me the big winner Materia was 4x Cut. I didn't even use KoTR on either of them. 4x Cut was the shit.

I found emerald to be much harder than Ruby. ruby wasn't bad, it was just long. emerald kept sucking my mp with those beams and using the air storm move.

And yes 4x cut does own. Love that move. Glad to see that it returned in XII cept only bad thing is its random now.

4x-cut was random then, too. >.> Double Cut was focused on one enemy, 4x was 4 random slashes. Was the same in FF6 with Offering.

Yeah but it was effective when it was just one opponent. What I meant by random is that multiple hits occur at random times. FFVII was guaranteed 4 hits no matter what, its just that they were hitting random people.

It's a similar topic now rather than just Yiazmat. The fact that Yiazmat is the superboss of FFXII brought up the topic of the other superbosses of the past FFs. It's more or less a superboss topic now but since Yiazmat is considered a superboss, it is still within the topic.

Shinryuu and Omega in FFV were fun, well now in FFV Advance there's Enuo, Neo Shinryuu, and Omega MKII, and they're really fun.

Kaiser/Czar Dragon and Omega in FFVI Advance should be fun too.

damn need to pick those up then!

Wow i really need to get a DS to get the new FF games... why did i sell mine 3 months after release when no games were out? ; ;

hindsight is always 20/20

Just beat Yiazmat, used a straight tank/cure strategy for the first 80-85%, then when he started scoring those 8, 9, 10-hit combos on me, I switched to a reverse/decoy tank strategy, and it worked much easier.
