I hate when I type out a real long post just to submit it and get this message.

It all becomes nuggets of my wisdom that noone shall ever see because I'm too lazy to type it again.

Hell, on some threads, I don't even have time to read the first page(20 posts) before my cookie expires.

I know how to use he internet very well, butI am internet stupid on the programming end. Can you make the cookies last longer or something to that effect?

Can't you just click the "remember me" box when you log in?

I've never had a problem with doing that (on either firefox, ie, or safari).

The cookie time-out is currently set to 15 minutes.
I am not sure what the proper course of action would be at this point. Short time-out settings protect the user account in the even of the user leaving the computer in a multi-user environment. Time-out means 15 minutes of inactivity.

Can I get a 20 or a 30 minute time out?

If it's an intricate post with lots of links, it takes me longer than 15 minutes to write a post or read a page of posts for that matter.

There's a small exe program called Wake Up that pings every 5 minutes. I used to use it back in the days of dial-up. I'm sure it could be Googled.

If you run Firefox, just open another tab and periodically switch between the two.

Thats all I have. I suck.

Or type your posts out in Notepad. Looks more work-friendly that way too.

Yeah, this kind of bugs me too. I like to read a bit and then go back to ffxi, leaving the forums open. However, it logs me out during that time. If you are in a multi user environment, they need just click the log out button. 30 mins at the least would be much nicer.

Well, you could also make it a habbit to ctrl +c your text before you press the "Post reply" button ^^;

CTRL+C is a must for long posts. Any number of things can happen that may screw up the posting and the data may be lost.

I have changed the cookie time-out to 1800 seconds.

no idea on cookies if u got wiresless network take a laptop into work easy
