My question, couldn't TWO war/nins do the same thing? and less risk to either tank since they can both take hits?

they can but their evade is worse the a ninja, so many times the pts were both tanks were war/nin that i was in would have times when neither tank had utsusemi up. we found that by having a nin/war as the second tank, it usually made it so that neither of them had problems keeping utsusemi up b/c the ninja could hold the mob longer while keeping their blinks up. In my experiance i either evaded or parried ~20% of hits, whereas my warrior companions almost never did.

Bouncing hate seemed to work the best for us, i suppose you could do these with one tank, but it seems risky. there were many times our rng would get hate just for looking the wrong way >.>

Also, svina, perhaps dia was a saver for you, and yes, i suppose DoT could help out in those last few moments. Our solution to removing that last bit of HP was to have TP wings and Skill Chain a second time, having the blm through its 2hr if it needed MP for the burst, and that worked well. Also, we rarely had to use the wings ^^;

mp was never a problem for me, see those price-y yag drinks and ethers people tell you to buy?

It's for a reason.

hmm my pts never really had an issue with mp even without those

Well i'm really getting tired of these things, last night did a run to Mea and it was going fine until we got to the floor just before the spire, the MR was dead but there was still empties running around so someone on the other pt said to kill them first so i started curing away, next thing i know i'm almost dead, i used 2hr, pop a super ether and when i turn around i realize that 6 people had ran into the portal and were already on the next floor. That got me pretty pissed off, and then someone made a comment something along the line "Well we weren't gonna stand there and all get killed" that comment just drove me over the edge, and then the leader of my pt says "Just go, its alright it happens." I really am thinking about quiting FF because of this, and the person who made the first comment is in my LS which is even worse. Well lets see what happens from here. :(

i won't comment on anything here as i will sure be flamed again by other forum members as usual. You all know who you are. Real fact still remains the prom missions are hard. Only ppl who have finished it will say it's easy. It figures anyways. Failed holla 9th time now and yes i did say i quit but friends brought me back to prom again.

blms in PROM.s are kinda useless... our blm most nukes were resisted, and his sleepga ES for the pets were resisted /sigh

btw, no one really answered my question, anyone have any info. on *how* they will be nerfed?

Teng, Promyvion missions are not hard. If a pack of newbies who just turned 30 could beat it, then why can't a player who has a lvl 75 job and another 60+ job beat it? Simple, you don't have any skill on either job. I remember waiting for Fafnir when you were partied in Dragon's Aery. My LS members saw you die three times in a period of 30 or so minutes. I could not stop laughing and seriously, we never thought you make it to 75 but I guess people were desperate enough to invite you to parties. Lets face it Teng, you were never a great paladin. Square Enix didn't make the Promyvion missions that hard. Look at how many people have beaten them. Theres just one difference between them and you. They have skill, or at least luck, while you lack both. All these missions are about team work, coordination, skill, and the ability to adjust to changes in the battlefield. Its only the strong that make it to the finish line and the weak that don't get anywhere. Look at yourself... you quitter. Can't even make it past the starting line.

hmmmm.. it saids they are
*readjusting *Promethia Missions* this may mean Proms. may still be the same

Told ya i was gonan get flamed and by a person with 8 posts too. What a moron. Just cause you completed Promyvion you can say all that you want. Ppl have been complaining about losing dem and mea. I laughed at them cause they are easy as i did them only once but i knew just cause i completed it doesn't mean others can as well. Same goes you. And you did fight fanfir, so what, that means you have a HNM LS who will do missions and stuffs together. REMEMBER I CANNOT SOLO PROMYVION and neither can you, we rely on help from every member of the alliance. SO If you said i am weak and as such, then why aren't you flaming the rest of the alliance which was with me BUT you only flamed me. Your LS can go to hell man, all of them. I hate ppl with your kind of atitude. AND for your information, just cause i died 3 times in a party means what, i am stupid and i am nota good pld, you would die too if no one healed you. Please get it into your big fucking head that if i am a bad pld as you think i am then you must be the worst player of all time. I dun like to flame anyone and i did say on my prev post i will get flamed hence i didn't say anything BUT A MORON HAD TO FLAME ME FOR NOT SAYING ANYTHING. So krag or kharge or whatever your fucking name is, get a life and you'll see that not everything goes right regardless of in-game or IRL. You maybe super and special and respected in FFXI but with that character you just showed on here, i guess you're a loser IRL.

NO edit button LOL

BTW you only flamed me and only me when i wasn't the person who started this thread. It was davio and a few other ppl shared their experiences on this thread but i was the only one who got flamed. AND there is one other person on the forums who only targets me and only me. Her name is Anesly. So Kharg, maybe you and her and lost siblings hence sharing the same mind.

AND I DID PROMYVION-HOLLA WITH THE FOLLOWING PPL ON 9TH TRY.

Grasinthor WAR/NIN
Milliania RNG/NIN
Skitles WHM/BLM
Arutha BLM/WHM
Gregor WAR/NIN

If you think those ppl are bad please flame them as well. From the 9th try we did good. Got it down to 3% life then it AoE sleep like every 1sec sfter we all woke up. It was too fast, can't even use poison on time before it used AoE sleep again. AND our potion got drained and we all got slept, can't blame us for that. After that, we just watched everyone fall.

kharg...that was a total waste of posting space by your post to teng....if one person dies in promyvion, it is not a single persons fault. everyone there is in a party, not by themselves.teng in the prom runs has nothing to do but backup heal and to let the avatar attack the memory and use 2 hour on the boss fight. it is impossible for one single person to be to blame for a failed prom run. even so, if they didnt even make it to the boss fight, that means the healing mages and the melee didnt do their job or got overwhelmed by attacks. as the smn, teng has nothing to do but get the avatar to attack the memory and to backup heal. prior jobs have nothing to do with prom runs. he didnt go into prom as a pld, so the problems that hes had in dragons aery doesnt matter.

**case point** when you go in to any situation as a party, you win as a party and you die as a party. one person doesnt win it or lose it. its either done together or not done at all

Here's what you need for promyvion:

- Intelligent preparations. If the boss can sleep you, you bring poison potions, doesn't matter if you're a mage and expect the melees to keep it away from you. If you're a mage or main/sub NIN, you bring echo drops in case of AOE silence. If you're a melee, you bring a few Hi-Potions for when you need healing and you can bloody well see that the WHM with 20 MP isn't gonna be able to toss a Cure III on you. You might not end up using all these, but just as a tip ... you can *sell* stuff on the Auction House too.

- Well-behaved party members who not only listen to instructions but follow them (or speak outright in Jeuno, if they choose not to follow them, rather than only mentioning the fact once you get to the Spire). This also includes a bit of common sense stuff such as, I dunno, not going afk halfway through Promyvion? Supposedly common sense anyway ... considering that mid-Promyvion afks happens quite often, it must not be common sense.

- A team mentality among the group travelling through Promyvion. This is the most important thing. You make sure, in particular, that there is always at least one WHM alive, because guess what - no other job can Raise at level 30, and Reraise isn't until level 33. And the other thing you make particularly sure of:

- *YOU DO NOT ENTER A MEMORY STREAM UNTIL ALL THE STRAYS ARE DEAD OR OTHERWISE OCCUPIED* (i.e. sleeping or distracted by a SMN avatar or a volunteer martyr who's already completed that promyvion - that last, only assuming you can beat the boss without 'em). The things take a whopping 3 minutes to disappear, if you have 2+ parties you *will* have time to kill off all the strays, even on the third and final portal, but not if 80% of the alliance jumps through the portal as soon as it opens (or whenever their panic hits about maybe not getting through in time).

Do not go through the portal until it's safe for everyone to do so. Promyvion is not "every man for himself", because if your team doesn't get through the portal too, guess what - you're screwed. It's better to fail to get through the portal and have to go open another one, than it is to abandon your team members. That sort of jackass attitude is far and away the #1 cause of promyvion failure. (#2 is dying to the boss through some combination of poor preparations and poor strategy, and #3 is just plain bad luck when you do everything right but still fail.)

- The ability to follow instructions from the leader (you do, of course, need a good leader for this one to work). If they say to buy something, buy it. If they say to stop attacking the memory receptacle so that some strays can be cleared out, stop attacking. If they say to stop moving, stop. If they say to run, run. And if they say to go through the portal and leave people behind while they're still fending off strays, they're an idiot and should henceforth be ignored. Assuming the leader is not an idiot, of course, do not assume that you know better than they do. Argue back if you like, to try to change their mind, but don't simply ignore them.

....................................

And ultimately ... this is why promyvion failures are so rampant. Because people can't follow instructions, can't use common sense, and abandon their teammates rather than working as a group. One or two bad apples like this might not ruin a promyvion ... but if too large a percentage of your group is similarly incompetent, it *will* result in failure.

Be prepared with items (and don't volunteer for a Promyvion if you are unable to afford a few potions). Have an intelligent leader and follow their instructions. But most importantly, play as a *team*.

Specific job combos are good, 2-hours are good, animas are very good (another tip: if you're interested in Promyvion, go farm up an anima *in advance*). But ultimately what will really matter is the paragraph above. If you can't do that ... you will have a very difficult time succeeding, if you can succeed at all. That's all the more there is to it, and that will always always be an issue unless the level-cap on promyvion is removed so that it's possible to walk through there aggro-free.
