I farm Tree cuttings still I have since I first turned THF68, but this is the second time it's happened, Keeper of Halidom pops (the GKT does not have the best drop rate, but it drops nonetheless) I normally go as THF/NIN, it kills Goobbues the fastest. Anyways, he pops I go for my ranged attack macro, nothing happens.. look down at my chat log.. and I get the message, You do not have the appropriate ranged weapon equipped.. Claimed by another person..second time it has happened.

Square Enix should implement a warning to when your becoming low on ammunition. Now I'm no programmer, I don't know how long it would take. But, for people that pay no attention to there ammunition slot it may go a long ways, from claiming NM's to even party matters (I've ran out of ammunition plenty of times in parties) It could lead the party at a chain halt and start over again. Every second counts, and the five seconds you waste equipping more could do the slightest bit.
_End_

I'll say it myself
I'm whining
But I'm pretty sure, I'm not the only person that has came in contact with this problem.

What the fuck, cry moar, god do people want SE to hold their hand all the time? God next you'll be wanting a bot that xp's for you.

While the warning would be nice and an on-screen display of your ammo should have been included, it's not surprising given how crappy the UI had to be to work with the PS2. Just check on it periodically when you go to sort your inventory.

If i wanted them to hold my hand, I'd say:

Re-equip my ammunition slot automatically Kthx!

Haha No because that would take up more space in my inventory, because if that was the case, I couldn't carry around a quiver. X12 stacks of Bloody Bolts siting there.. No thanks

Make a second macro for "ranged attack re-equip", with something to the tune of /item blahblah quiver, /equip ammo blahblah ammo, /ra <t>. If you get the don't-have-ammo message, just quickly hit that macro instead.

Or alternatively, make a second macro that equips a boomerang and uses a ranged attack, and use that one for claiming NMs (but not normally, since you'll lose TP).

Hmm I never did think of the macro of switching ammunition, it will save a few seconds maybe even enough to do the claiming. But I guess either way you look at it there will always be a bad side to it.

It's the best workaround I can think of, short of a change to the UI on S-E's part. And it's something you can actually do to improve things for yourself, rather than just mope about the way it is. XD

ctrl+e will bring up your equipment screen very quickly. Just do it every so often, know how much ammo you have at any given time, and plan accordingly. You don't HAVE to wait until you hit 00 to swap to a fresh stack of arrows.

Just add an equip line to your ranged attack macro. This is what I use on ranger for regular shots:

/equip Ammo "Demon Arrow"
/ra <t>

That way if I'm out of ammo it automatically reloads, no need to check equipement or count. I also have an /equip Ammo line in WS and pulling macro. I haven't seen that message in years doing that (well you still have to make sure you have at least 1 spare stack of ammo).

Good to swap ammo for WS as well without trouble.

is this the appropriate place to bitch about "you move and interrupt your aim"...? cause i f*ckin cant staaaaaaaand that.:banghead3:

For a sec I thought this was gonna be about the fix so you can't throw Bomb Core et al... they give the same message if you try to toss em.

I was thinking that too.

Ive heard some similar complaints about some WHM spells, most notable Reraise. The complaints were that the buffs should give a "Spell is about to wear off" which kind of makes sense. Reraise giving this message could save lives sometimes

they may not be up to speed. but when im on my rng i just check my ammo after every chain.

I have four macros for bolts on thf (bloody, acid, blind, sleep) and each of those has an /equip line for the bolts. Try it.

You know what I really hate? I don't understand why the fuck this game doesn't claim NMs for me. It's really fucking irritating how I actually have to pay attention for like 2 minutes out of every 16 so I might get the pop, I don't know why the fuck the game doesn't do it for me. I'm serious, it's just retarded.
