Hey guys,

I'm in the process of setting up a lvl 50 static. We will mainly be xping in the TOAU areas and I was wondering if this setup would yield good to great xp.

Sam
Drk
Blu
Drg
Brd
Rdm

There is no main tank here. If the melees were to sub nin (like in a merit party), could we get better xp then a traditional healer, tank, support, DD, DD, DD setup?

Also, how do you guys think a well geared SAM/war would fare as main tank in this setup using Seigan? I main tanked with my SAM up to lvl 44 now with no problems, but I also had a outside PL. Holding hate is never a problem, and Seigan did make 3rd eye last a little. I'm thinking I'd probably be holding the hate most of the time even as a Sam/Nin if the other melees went /nin as well and in that case blink along with seigan 3rd eye should keep me from being a mp sink. What do you guys think? Its been over 2 years since I've leveled a job past 40 so feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

That depends on how you define great exp. I've had Sam and Drg dual tank pre updates for both (although I wouldn't recommend it if it can be avoided). Outside PLs also make a pretty good difference depending on the help. If you could I'd still recommend you go sam/war and full defensive setup, you're not going to great exp but you can do decently. There's no real point to drg/nin, if you really worried about him taking hate have him /whm and help out with curing. As for the Drk... In this instance, he should consider an alternate sub other than war since you'll be shedding hate more easily versus traditional tanks with fewer hate tools to keep it.

Sure it can work if you all mostly sub NIN or SAM later on. Until you get to 55+ where you can start getting into 'tp burn' type camps you may have some problems. Overall, however, I think you guys will be just fine.

Have the drg go /war or /sam if anything since when alternating high jump and super jump they can survive without too much damage.
Make sure the blu knows his positioning so that he can maximize his own damage. My own brd hated blus since the first thing they always did was move to where i cant refresh them without hitting the entire pt. stress the importance of staying on the same side as the mages so that he wont be left without mp.The stuns from the blu should make things easier.

The main problem with a party having no tank is really just the lack of a voke to get a monster off of a brd pulling. if you have something that can simulate that then you're golden.(aka drk using stun)

Sam can tank fine. Especially at that level. Just don't fight anything that's way above your level, and you'll burn through stuff so fast you won't know what hit you

By way above your level, I mean chain VTs
