You know what I'd like to see on the Wii?

A bushido blade style game. Not like Red Steel, but a swordfighting game with a heavy emphasis on "realism" and, of course, using the Wiimote. :)

That would be, as the kids say nowadays, the bee's knees.

I've heard of an arcade that has such, but I've never gotten a chance to see it, I'm certain that we'll see something like that on the Wii soon enough, I know I'd jump all over it like Oprah on a baked ham XD

Something prehaps along the lines of Onimusha? Onimusha for the Wii would be pretty dang sweet.

Dual Wielding: nunchuk mode
Greatsword: one on top of the other
single sword: one stick

Magic attacks: Combonations with the nunchuks.

I'm not sure if they'd be able to register you stacking the wiimote and the nunchuck. What I want to see is a star wars game with a custom lightsaber-model wiimote; that would be awesome and a half.

Only the wiimote, I believe, has position sensors. The nunchuk only has sensors for relative movement, and can only detect shaking and direction changes.

I've never seen Star Wars is it good?

Some are, lots suck.

Yeah, that's not to say they can't release another attachment for the wiimote that would have position sensors, and infact extend it long enought for a realistic two-handed weapon grip. You could just use two wiimotes for dual wielding though. Dpad on the primary hand remote for turning, use the dpad on the secondary hand one for moving forward/back and strafing. Button 1/2 for different blade angle strikes(flat edge vs. blade, ala Kenshin-esque)

The real problem with swordplay on a Wiimote is the fact that a sword is a solid object.

A 1:1 mapped sword motion would be cool, but a real sword has weight, as well as air resistance working against it.

As well, what if you hit a solid object with your sword?

Your Wiimote won't stop and/or bounce off the object, so while the sword would stop/bounce back, your arm would keep going. How would this map to ingame movement? Would you have to restore sync by moving your arm back? What if you don't do it fast enough? Will the game detect it as a *further* return movement, causing you to turn?

etc.

It'll really only work with lightsabers, which lucasarts IIRC already said they're interested in making a lightsaber style game.

Yes, because the wiimote produces collision feedback in Wii Sports Baseball and Tennis, Red Steel, and Twilight Princess.

Simple solution: reset your hand position should that occur. No one says it has to be TEH AWESOME REALISIMSMTIC

There should be some kind of force feedback when I play wii sports, impacts when I hit something with my club/bat/racket/fist or weight when I bowl. I'm not having any problems with realism nor do the games seem to have much problem with it.

Well, in sports your wiimote-based tool isn't designed to bounce off the ball or be halted by it. That would be rather.. strange.. don't you think? Swinging a golf club and having it bounce back off the ball instead of the other way around. Of course it works in Wii sports! Hell, the follow-through of any swing is important in real life too.

And Skaw - yes, there are many people who want it to be OMGBBQ realistic. Edit: Also, Red Steel and Zelda use canned animations and attacks which are triggered by your movements, so they wouldn't be affected like a 1:1 motion game would be.

I guess the best solution would be to have a recoiling animation of sorts during which the motion goes dead, and you have time to realign your wiimote... or something.

Wait a sec, the nun-chuck doesn't have the same system as the wiimote? How does Boxing work then?

It has motion sensing but not pointing.
