Your using BBQ sauce in place of ketchup for your scrambled eggs....

That is exactly what I did on my 2nd night alone in my new place with hardly any food, no tv, phone or internet... and what a great meal it was. As of last week I moved out of my parents place after many months of planning ahead and mindless money saving. I am living in a bachelor suite on the other side the city from my family and I am loving it now that I have all the important stuff now....BBQ sauce, eggs, and internet that is... I guess I forgot to mention my only roommate a 10 week old feral kitten that I adopted and he is sort of driving me crazy with all his play fighting when I am trying to sleep or eat but I love him none the less.

Anywho the real point of the post was to share that I moved out on my own finally and see what challenges some of you faced in the first little while out of the nest.

the 10 week old feral kitten is the best part of this post

When i was having trouble with getting shit when i was first living alone everytime i needed ketchup i would go to McD's and order the 1 dollar fries. Then ask the drive through lady for a ton of it. I would only have to do this like once a month and never paid for ketchup. This way u dont have to explain to the person inside why u want 200 packets of ketchup w/o buying any food. (i have experienced this... interesting conversation)

I overdrew my checking account regularly and had to live off noodles and Kool-Aid while I paid the overdraft fees, but I'm not complaining at all... It was hella good to be on my own and still is. :D

It is indeed good to be out on your own. Can't really say my life is that way at the moment, considering I'm currently underway, but when I return to my apartment in Jacksonville it will be a happy day. Congrats on your new place, living on your own can be complicated, don't let yourself fall behind on things, easy way to spoil your credit. Enjoy it though, living on your own is one great feeling. Go meet some girls and take bring em to the pad ;P. That's a joke more or less. Mainly less >.>.

Yeah living on your own can be rather interesting. I learned to never buy actually dinner wear. just buy the big bulk paper plates and bowls and anytime your actually in a fast food joint that has those sporks. grab em by the hand fulls thats what i do along with the ketchup, mayonaise, and mustard, salt, and pepper. free things are always great

You forgot the napkins. I always put a ton of those things in my bag.

And you forgot that you should always get the large drink because they are usually plastic reusable cups. I have a nice set of 12 random Fast Food cups lol

If you took 5 dollars out of every homeless persons cup that you seen, how much groceries could you afford? Strike while it's hot!

The first few weeks of living on my own were awesome. I took a few days off work to "settle" (settle = throw a massive party), bought my own groceries (Ramen and milk), finished Half-Life 2 pants-less (don't ask), etc...

Then a few weeks later, the bills started coming in, and omg everything is expensive. I had run out of clean clothes and contemplated just buying new clothes but realized that would make me poor(er). And all the tele-marketers ask for me now, not my parents.

Seven months later I'm still poor, but still living on my own, finishing things pants-less. My grocery list has increased in size to include bread, peanut-butter, and eggs. I've even perfected dealing with unwanted phone calls with things like "He doesn't live here anymore" and "No, I haven't seen him today, but I can have him call you back. Who did you say you were with again? Visa? Yeah, he'll call you right back..."

lol Pantless is the way to go. Hell, I did that when I had roommates. I wear boxers though, so it's just like shorts anyways. Except my Batman pair. They are a little short lol But they have the bat symbol right across my ass and my girlfriend bought them for me, so I have to represent.

And bills suck. The first month was nice after the first rent check. But then the second one comes and you are like shit ... I forgot I didn't buy the place lol

And your grocery list blows mine out of the water. Mine includes beer and pretzels. If I am hungry, I normally just go to the grocery store and get a sandwich or something. I never plan ahead.

lol They are the most comfortable things in the world. I am wearing them right now actually. The bat symbol is across my ass and it says BATMAN across the front. I think I'm going to go out in just those for Halloween this year.

I AM BATMAN!

I dont count beer as a grocery. I count it as a prerequiset (horrible spelling ftw) to opening my bills.

Makes sense.

Now my grocery list is pretzels. Easy enough lol
