I repeat Wonko's statement for myself.

Am I the only one who remembers that AFI started as a street punk band?
I find most "emo," a label I dislike, to be contrived and empty.

Word, son. Word. And yeah, I remember pre-Butch Vig AFI.

hahah afi, from punk samplers.. they were ok.. that guys voice made me so mad..

i like a lot of punk from the late80's to mid 90's - gorilla biscuits, descendants, all, kid dynamite, lifetime, then the poppier punk stuff that came out like grey area, old bouncing souls, limp, hten i moved onto that ska wave shit like assorted jellybeans, choking victim, then i went over to the rave and got involved in house and drum and bass, then i went back to punk stuff, then i started getting into stuff like coheed, at the drive in, started listening to knapsack, jeaous sound, december drive, paint it black, bloc party, and then i got into harder stuff like darkest hour, every time i die, number 12 looks like you..

shower rinse repeat, i listen to all that shit now..

i love emo, some of it, i mean honestly a lot of it sounds completely the same at this point, and i have yet to hear an emo band that came out in like the last 3 years that i like save for one or two exceptions where there are like three good songs on the album.. i mean hawthorne heights, come on, that shit was being made like five years ago, by underground bands, and now its just the same music on a wider scale because more people start to see how good it is.. its all one big blur to me at this point... they all sound like saves the day from back in 1997-1998.. I dunno, I have no faith in the music anymore. And damn, fuckin SCENE kids, come ON. Those kids piss me off more than anything I think. Most of the kids that are out aren't there for the music. I mean I used to throw shows back in the 90s and yeah it was kind of like that but I mean it just gets worse and worse as time goes on, with anything. The last show I went to, I think I have never been more disgusted about some shit in my life..

Anyway I'm ranting, I'm just an old jaded person who used to be involved in the scene.. and now hates everything about it.

I'll listen to damn near anything . . . but when I'm not actively looking to listen to something new I'll always drift back to industrial and rockabilly/psychobilly . . . and since everyone has fun dropping names . . .

the last few cds I listened to are as follows

Social Distortion - Sex Love and Rock and Roll
Einsturzende Neubauten - Perpetual Machine
Gutter Demons - Enter the Demons
Turbonegro - Scandanavian Leather
The Cramps - Look Mom No Head
OhGr - SunnyPsyOP

Melo-Death, Death, Grind, Black, Stoner, Progressive Death, and Art metal.

Oh and Mr. Wonko check this out ARSIS. Listen to "The face of my Innocence"...These guys are just insane.

Also, to Oraga (sp?). The newest Darkest Hour is quiet a gem. Not as good as the previous (lyrically) but damn good musically. I can't wait for them to just break down and turn straight Melodic Death..if they continue like this it's only a matter of time :p

rock, metal, techno (trance especially), lil bit of everything else except most rap and all country.

Metal! Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Pantera, Iced Earth, Manowar, Slayer and
Dimmu Borgir to name some

i <3 TOOL/A Perfect Circle , Pink Floyd, Queen, G&R (I want to play as good as slash) and metal such as Slipknot,Killswitch, Slayer ect..

Anything that the voice and the music matches. Im srorry, but I HATE singers who just scream into the mic, sounds disgusting IMO. LIke the band Arsis Strid posted, beat is good, but the vocals kill it.

I like Pink floyd, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, motely Crue, Poision, Wasp, Queen, Guns and roses, twisted sister, Kiss, The Who, the Beatles, My Chemical Romance, Simple Plan, Black sabbath, metallica, iron maiden, and 98% of Mexican music.
