I've made a good chunk of change doing "your orbs, your drops" pickup runs, of course, I'd have made a lot more with splitting gil, but I'm not complaining. When you do YOYD, you're in essence making the gamble that you want whatever your orb drops and you have to ignore what happens with the other 2. With everyone splitting then you have no more and no less odds of gaining gil.
For example... Let's say everyone can potentially make 100 gil of a run, there are 3 runs /w 3 people.
If all 3 people win and all 3 people get the 100 gil, then everyone makes 100 gil.
If none of the people win and they all get 0, then everyone gets 0.
If 1 of the people wins, then either everyone gets 33 gil or a 1/3 chance for 100 gil.
If 2 of the people when, then everyone either gets 66 gil or a 2/3 chance for 100 gil.
Overtime, if you do "YOYD" or split, you'll achieve the exact same amount of gil. The problem is that maybe you're expecting too much in the first place and blaming the poor profit on the distribution method. Well splitting or not doesn't make you get more gil mathematically. It's all the same either way, which is why I prefer to just split. When I get nothing and another member gets a PCC, I congratulate them and don't mind in the slightest. My odds were my odds alone. Their PCC didn't affect my odds of getting a PCC.
Being unhappy that while taking a chance in which I could have gotten a several million gil item and my teammates could have gotten nothing... when i ended up getting nothing and a teammate ended up getting the several million gil... being unhappy that they did well when i could have done well myself? It's just bitterness and jealousy. I've seen many times people complaining they did a "your orb, your drop" and felt someone earning big should have given them something.
Why? If they didn't want to take the risk, they could have split drops.
It's all very illogical. The actual distribution method doesn't create gil or destroy gil. It's just easier one way than the other.
