I recently got Penelo in my party and she's got all these limit points to use.. I thought I'd start a thread since I'm still early into the game and see what everyone has their characters doing/weapons/armor they use

*Vaan - heavy armor, blood sword, shield, decent white magic/black magic, has mist ability up to pyroclasm

*Basche - heavy armor, hammer (can't remember name this early), shield, decent white/black magic doesn't have mists

*Fran - light armor, killer bow, better than average white/green/black/arcane magics and has my 1st esper Belias.

Balthier - mystic armor, gun, average spells, tier 1 mist ability

Penelo - Gauntlet dagger (I think, 38 attack + 42 evade), shield, light armor, below-par spells

Ashe - Wizard staff, mystic armor, she's my 2nd mage choice after Fran... I think i have Fran in my pt at all times cus I like her outfit O .o
----------
Note * dictates my character's in primary party, other 3 are my backups but Penelo just got that really cool dagger so now I'm starting to think twice..

Vaan - Heavy armor, swords / shields, mainly arcane / white magicks, lots of technicks. (lol esper user) Mainly spends time with decoy and what not, so the tank type. On occasion will use technicks.

Basch - All armors, any weapon with 2 hands, green / black / white magicks, lots of technicks. Pure main DD, the reason for armors is that all the weapons have variable formulas for damage, and near the end light armor has a body piece with Bravery on it.

Ashe - Mystic armor, ranged weapons namely bows, all magicks. Only has a few basic technicks ( charge, first aid, 1000 needles, ect. ) Mage type not much she does other then what you expect.

All the chars have the lvl 3 Quickenings.

Vaan- Zodiac Spear, Steel Mask (heavy armor), Maximillian (heavy armor), 2xEXP/2xLP/Bubble Belt

Balthier- Fomalhaut, Wyrmfire Shot, Steel Mask, Maximillian, 2xEXP/2xLP/CatEarHood

Fran- Yoichi Bow, Lightning Arrows, Steel Mask, Maximillian, 2xEXP/2xLP/CatEarHood

Basch- Ultima Blade, Steel Mask, Maximillian, 2xEXP/2xLP/Bubble Belt

Ashe- Deathbringer, Demon Shield, Steel Mask, Maximillian, 2xEXP/2xLP/CatEarHood

Penelo- Deathbringer, Demon Shield, Steel mask, Maximillian, 2xEXP/2xLP/CatEarHood

All characters have Lv3 quickenings, all magicks/accessories/augments/technicks.

suffice it to say i have a maximillian for everyone and i just give them the absolute highest damage weapons for the time, the important thing for party setups is your GAMBITS!
in order or priority
Vaan- Foe HP < 3000 attack; Ally any raise; ally hp<20% Curaga; ally HP <40% cura; ally any esuna; self haste; self prot; self shell; foe nearest attack; ally hp< 80% cure
everyone else - Ally any raise; ally hp<30% Curaga; ally HP <60% cura; ally any Remedy; self haste; self prot; self shell;foe flying Blizzara; foe nearest attack; ally hp< 80% cure

Every party member is a tank, a healer, a support job... i don't use bubble or bravery, they're too cheesy, sometimes i mod gambits eg balth's prot to ally any and penelo's haste to ally any and give someone a berserk Vaan macro. this setup with maybe a tweak here and there has let me win some of the hardest fights in the game thus far while afk... ^^
edit* all chars have completed Licence board

Just got the game recently so nothing to amazing gear wise etc, but as far as roles go:

Vaan: Tank - Sword/Shield, Heavy Armor. White and Arcane Magic, setup to go Protect, Regen, Decoy, Drain with another character hasting.
Ashe: Mage - Focused on White and Black Magic.
Penelo: Support - Ninja Katana, Light Armor, Green, Time, Arcane and White Magic with some Techniques.
Fran: DD - Katana and Bow also can be setup for nuking as I have all her black magic caught up. So situational DD. Esper user.
Balthier - I like the guy but not much, support and Quickening slut.
Basch - Lol. I just don't like running aroung with Basch so he isn't leveled very much.
Vaan, Penelo and Ashe lvl 3 Quickenings.

I'm to lazy to put my gambits, they change time to time.

Everyone has all 3 quickenings for me and I basically have 2 similar party set ups.

Tanks - Basch, Ashe
DD - Vaan, Balthier
Support/Healers - Penelo, Fran

Basch tanks with greatsword or sword and shield. Ashe usually sticks to sword and shield. Heavy Body Armor and Light head for both.

Vaan has the Zodiac Spear. Balthier has guns. Combination of heavy/light armors.

Penelo uses crossbows, bombs, or daggers. Fran uses Katana or bows. Mystic Armors.

Vaan - Spear/Polearm, Heavy Armor, Exp Double/LP Double/Bubble
Basch - Sword/Axe & Shield, Heavy Armor, Exp Double/LP Double/Battle Harness
Fran - Bow & Arrow, Light/Mage Armor, Exp Double/LP Double/Bubble

Penelo, Balthier, & Ashe are my Quickening Burn party, so they are useless for anything other than that in my eyes.

For the most part, I keep Decoy/Lure on Basch, seeing as how I have him with the highest Vitality and Countering abilities. So he tanks pretty much. Vaan just DD's with some support Curagas when Party Member's HP<40%. For example, my gambits for Vaan are:
Attack > Party Leader's Target
Party Member's HP<40% > Curaga
Monster:Flying > Telekenisis
Monster HP <500 > 1000 Needles
And a few other ones.

Then I got Fran with curing magic and buffs like Haste, Berserk, Vanishga, ect. It works for me atleast. :P

Vaan: Spear, heavy armor, heavy helmet
Balthier: Gun, light armor, mystic helmet
Basch: Great Katana, heavy armor, light helmet
Fran: Bow, Light armor, Mystic helmet
Ashe: Sword/Shield, Heavy armor, Light helmet
Penelo: Dagger, Light armor, Light helmet

Primarily use Ashe, Fran, and Penelo.

Haven't learned a single Quickening or Esper yet.

Just finished the Mount Bur-Omisace sequence.

The girls are level 35, the boys are level 17 (lol i need to fix that).

Golden Amulet and Embroidered Tippet. Double LP and EXP respectively when equiped as an accessory.

Just got my first golden amulet :D

And on that note, I got it hunting a mark but I also I was going after Enkelado.. I was under the impression "rare" game only spawned once.. But I had previously killed both Aeros and the Croc(huntercroc? or some such nonsense) but then when I went for the mark there they were, again. I killed the croc and had Enkelado down to 10% of life when he used restore effectively killing any chance of winning against him and aeros afterwards.. so I guess to take this thread in kind of a new direction does *some* rare game only spawn once and others not? I'm scratchin my head over this one (damn you brady guide!)

They can spawn more than once. I killed the razorfin fish thing twice.

Theres 80 rare monsters, 50 can respawn if you keep satisfying their conditions, 30 do not spawn at all until you start the Hunting Quest thing in Phon Coast, and they do not respawn after you get their trophy item.
