Well, he should be able to hold hate. Because any cannon stupid enough to invite a pld wont be very good.

I agree, PLD in a cannon pt is a waste of space. But that isn't what is being argued here. Cecil is trying to say that he can and would hold hate in a cannon pt.

Lawl, no disrespect, but I just thought it was funny that I beat Maat on PLD 1/1, and thought it was ridiculously easy, and I just got Savage Blade as 71 PLD...First job btw.
 
Any pld in a cannon sits there and looks pretty, while doing about 5% damage. And no, you wont hold hate.

Lmao, once you introduce a PLD, it's not a cannon anymore dude...

There are plenty of cannonesque setups and wannabe cannons which are more TP-burn, or if you have a BLU TP/Magic Burn, great DDs (PLD excluded) but it loses the "cannon" tag.

It honestly doesn't if all you do is miss miss and hit every once in awhile. Helps with the cures, but it's best macro'd in for job abilities and flash. Then using other stuff like accuracy gear to be hitting more. When you don't have hate though what is enmity going to do? Give you more hate on Cure III/IV flash and provoke if all other timers are down.

Enmity gear will only help a tiny little bit with ws dump. Not much but a little bit for getting hate back if the paladin honestly tried and uses job abilities wisely. Enmity helps here with sentinel and other abilities, but using the abilities is more of a factor over enmity gear itself. If you just cluster fuck your job abilities then enmity gear wont do much of anything because the paladin just burned all of his abilities in one fight.

Wearing enmity gear full time is just kind of stupid even just swapping to amem mantle (nq I r broke) life belt and a vener's ring can help with how much you hit. Then there's if the paladin has access to some homam pieces or even dare I say Ares'. Just some better pieces that can be worn to help hold hate over full enmity gear. Yes enmity gear will help with lowering how much hate is lost from taking damage, but hitting also helps negate that out.

I think I've got a pretty good PLD/NIN DD set up for when I hit merits...Company main, Joyeuse offhand, and all the regular DD gear, I can throw out some pretty sick damage...

...So ya know...It's not gonna be that bad once I get there.

Mind you, no one would invite me to a cannon party, but Jojojo statics with me and makes the parties himself {All Right!}

I would like to say I have held hate off of Labrynth one time on his monk on my way to 75 on his Asuran Fists. I still think it was a complete fluke though.

Lmao not to burst your bubble, cause I've got nothing against you; but any idiot PLD who gets a Joyeuse CAN NOT lose to Maat without really failing hard at being a PLD.

Even without one, he's a pushover if you're fighting him at 70 using Protect IV. :)

Be slightly impressed if you did it without meds.

Hopefully you're already a better PLD that Cecilx will ever be in all his years of playing FFXI rofl.

Lol, only reason I said that is because Moink said something...Anyway, yeah I didn't expect Maat to be that hard, I was using Joy toy, and I only used a yag drink.
 
Yeah, Im not saying melee in enmity gear, most cases thats a terrible idea. But having enmity while you dont have hate seems most important to me...Because your voking, flashing, and using JA's while you dont have hate, all of which you should be macroing in enmity gear.
