WARNING! This is a pretty weak/lame flame, I'll admit to that right off the bat, but I'm annoyed. Don't waste your time reading this if you want something with more substance than "POOR ME!" & "CRY MOAR!"

I'm lfg on 71MNK and get an invite to a mire party. Sweet! 2.5k tnl I'm gunna get 72 for sure. LOL right. Anyway, I've partied with the leader for most of 68-71 and his parties have always been pretty good. He says that their tank fell asleep so we would be bouncing hate around. We had done it previously waiting for a tank during another party, so I figure it would be fine to do again. Setup was MNK MNK MNK SAM all /NIN with a WHM and a BLM. 69-72.

Anyway, get to camp, everyone says they are ready, so leader pulls a mob. On his way back to the camp, Yuukieternal (SAM) says "I would prefer a tank" *disband* So Yuukieternal, thank you for choosing the most appropriate time to decide you didn't like the set-up. /cheer

Then, as we are fighting the 1st mob, Hyphyx (Who has not moved to engage) decides that because there is no refresher, he would rather lfg. As he kindly pointed out as he stood by and watched our folly, it is much, much better to stand in Whitegate with your flag up, than to have to wait for WHM to heal a little MP after each chain. *disband* So Hyphyx, thank you for enlightening me to both the importance of refresh and the wonders of lfg. /salute

After that it was downhill, the 4 of us left got a link, died, and suddenly there was no party anymore and I'm 3.5ktnl

And with that, I am all out of whine, so I'll step down off my soap box and go campaign my level. :mad:
 
Correct me if i'm wrong, but don't war's make pretty good tanks around 70+? Heck i had one at 69 doing imps, giving she was War/dnc she did a damn fine job. Wish i could remember her name, it was when my drk was 68 . _.;
 
well, too many people forget that war can tank... Theyre always thinking "LOL WAR DD ONRY!"
 
well if they war/nin they would have issues till 74. Would be either a slow party or fast there would be no in between with war tank.
 
before 74 that is
 
Two war/nin can dual-tank great, I did it myself many times leveling War, I doubt one could solo tank though. Depends on what you are fighting.
 
isnt dnc and /dnc against imps just kinda bleh cause amnesia fucks dances up?

No one can really "tank" in the mire because of amnesia, just whomever's doing the most damage at the time takes the hits. It's a bit harder to heal there as a whm due to the nature of no hate control so expecting a whm to heal you without refresh is a bit silly unless the blm was doing nothing but healing. I'm not really sure what a blm could do in the mire that would be useful, really.
 
Whm can heal fine in Mire without refresh if people actually play their roles properly(good luck in a pick up group) but it would still be tough if the Whm is less than great.

I'll be honest. If they say "mire" you say "Campaign". Good theory :P
 
i've always liked pld in the mire, when it's ammesia'ed it can flash or cure and when it's silenced it can voke. I'd imagine a pld/dnc wouldn't fare too well with getting dances off because of amnesia though but plds hold hate decently if you're quick with silena and keep up refresh and such.

Never did mire with a pld/dnc in the 65-72 range on rdm but pld/dnc in merits is nice indeed.

I like mire though X_X, not for merits though
 
feh people hate mire because you have to bring more than the usual...ie echos

for a cheap bastard like myself I enjoyed mire on my way to 75 more than birds(hate those fuckers), maybe it was because I had more work to do or something which is probrably why I hate birds since there isn't much to do in comparison

Explosions of magic fix everything. Imps know it. XD
 
Wars can effectively ichi tank if they have a brd and rdm, but you can't even really make use of the brd fully, because you really need the double haste song. Its the only way i could do it safely on the magma crawlers on Mt. Z

I dunno man, Stine was able to slug it out as WHM sans Refresh effectively from 70-75. We almost exclusively exp'd in Caedarva Mire.

But then again, Stine's a fuckin' kickass White Mage.

With Nobles Tunic and Sanction refresh a Whm can indeed last long periods without resting, with some good mp recovery gear/food too a few short rests can keep the party moving along nicely without the need of a refresher.

I was fortunate enough once to be Whm to a very organised party meriting at the Colibri camp, we reached high chains and bearly stopped, the Ninja only needed some TLC once in awhile, for the most part I was just doing some hastes and cure 3's as needed.
