As the title suggests, I'm interested to know the exact effects of Elemental Staves on Bard songs. My Bard recently hit 51, and I swiftly replaced the Monster Signa with Light Staff and Earth Staff. Then it occured to me, that I didn't really know how the Elemental Staves actually affected Bard...

Well I'm nearing 51 and as mage I'm almost positive I'm required to have a dark staff and light staff at 51. So I am wondering as a red mage am I required to have any other staves? Another question any tips on obtaining these staves? I'm really just planning on fishing 50 or so sacks of moat...

I have the ice and dark staff currently. I have read that the other elemental staves give a 10% damage increase on the corresponding spell (i.e. Thunder staff would increase the thunder spell's dmg by 10%). I have heard a lot of tests done that seem to prove the existance of the hidden effect...
