So I'm reaching that point where I'm going to be getting these staves... I want to make sure I'm maximizing what I can do with them. I think I'm just going braindead looking at too much internet descriptions while I'm at work. But can someoen help me with these questions?

Many of the staves say like:

Additional Effect: < Specific Elemental > Damage.
Does this mean it increases the damage of the elemental spell cast? Or does that mean the weapon would just do some <specific elemental> damage when the weapon strikes?

What is the shortcut macro to exchange your weapon?

I hear it's worthwhile to set up macros to change your staff to the spell you're casting. Is that true?

I think that's all the questions I have right now. These things just popped to mind as I was doing some reading.

Elemental staffs boost the elemental of what you cast Earth is of course Stone or for summons Titan i think for the macro its /equip "item" <me> and it greatly improoves damage sometimes.

Equipment change macro is:

/equip slot (head, main etc.) "Armor/weapon name" at least i think so my equip change macros havent changed in awhile.

The additional effect in the description is the dmg that you do when you melee w/ it. However I believe theres a hidden effect that increases elemental magic power by like... 8-10% or something like that. So its a good idea to equip it before you cast a spell.

The macro is something like /equip Main "Dark staff" <me>

You're prolly better off hearing this from a mage...I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct.

the staves help with resist rate of the spell of that element. the normal staves give 10% to damage, and high quality is 15%. they also give a reduced perpetuation cost to avatars by some odd amount.

i just use macros to switch out my equipment, but don't macro in spells with it. of course, i play with a controller so it's actually easier to choose from the magic menu than to use several sets of macros, so that may be different for you.

Yeah, normal Staves are +10% HQ +15% dmg to all spells of its element, AND -10% or 15% for spells of opposite element (aka: don't cast wind spells with ice staff)

I have all my spells macroed to appropiate staff and have macros just for earth/dark staff switch (incase of aggro or resting)

What they all said for the staffs. And macro is /equip slot item.. Don't need the """" I believe.

I use equip macros.

Example /equip waist "Life Belt" would be a correct line. So you want: /equip main "<Element> Staff"

What all these guys said ^^

Ill add that I have 6 macros for the 6 basic spells

/equip Main "Aquillo's Staff"
/ma "Blizzard II" <t>

etc.

I also macro it in for stun macro

/equip Main "Jupiter's Staff"
/ma "Stun" <t>

AND

I have another for whatever the MB is:

/equip Main "Neptune's Staff"
/ma "Waterga III" <t>

They help in getting enfeebles to land as well.

Earth staff is going to help with landing slow, ice to paralyze, wind for gravity ( I think gravity is wind ), etc.

From what I've heard they also boost any abilities you have based on the element of the staff you're using. For example, BST's "Charm" ability is light-based, so I use a light staff in my charm macro, and I really notice a difference between using it and my AF1 axe. Much lower mischarm rate with light staff. 8) Going to upgrade to Apollo's staff eventually.
