10 Million Paying Gold Members

Nope. Everyone has a profile, but not an xbox live account.

To me that is stupid. I know it came up in another thread that not having HD or planning on upgrading soon makes Next-gen consoles not really worth it, but not playing online is even worse. Theoretically I guess everyone has a silver account on Live, but there are still those people who don't do anything online and to me, that makes a console not worth getting at this point.

Not really. From my perspective, the 360 games I want are either single player, or the campaign is all I like. After scouring the internet for advice, and even renting that piece of shit Shadowrun, I pretty much gave up and accepted I might as well go silver. The only thing that may change my mind is if this Goldeneye on arcade goes through. If the netcode and community is there I will consider gold just for that.

Well at least you will have a Silver because some of the best content is stuff you can't buy in stores. I am talking about people with no online whatsoever.

Yeah, that's true now that Xbox Live has Gripshift... unfortunately they dumbed down the REALLY hard levels from the PS3 version. The point of it was that it was insanely hard.

I'd assume the people with silver either have no broadband or their TV is not near a router. Don't forget it doesn't come with wireless adapter built in. Doesn't even come with a rechargeable remote... a fact that pissed me off after my new batteries died in 3 days use.

remotes on a console to watch movie are quite possibly the biggest nickel and diming accessory on the planet.

Just use the fucking controller.

I think he was talking about the controller.

I have heard people call controllers the weirdest things, my favorite being "paddles".

Oh ok. Yeah, I agree. Microsoft should've made the premium/elite come with a play and charge/quick charge kit instead of just a wireless controller with double a's. Oh well, not like the kits are expensive.

They're 30 bucks... albeit they're just 4 AA rechargeable batteries I can get from anywhere. I'm surprised Microsoft didn't alter them physically... just enough so I'd have to buy batteries from them for $500. Not the biggest deal, but when you consider all the expenses of owning a 360 it starts to add up.

Yeah, I have the Play and Charge Kit. Very nice accessory. Just too bad it has to be bought seperately and for each controller.

Or you could just spend $10 more and get the Play&Charge with a wireless controller, but that only really helps if you don't already have 4 controllers, which at this point in the system's life, if you were going to get 4 controllers you would have them by now.

Well, you only really need two of the kits, tops. But you'd nee 2 additional batteries.

Still, that is about $60 extra just to keep charging my controllers. The battery packs should really be included at this point.

In fairness, Wii doesn't include them either, and with the profit they make off each system it's ridiculous. Of course, then again... the Wii could probably take out the controller, sell your first one to you separately and still be sold out everywhere.

I had a Gold account, but I let it lapse back in December and I'm in no rush to renew it. I'm not into the multiplayer frag-fests -- other than short stabs at Team Fortress 2 -- so there's no reason to shell out the money for it.

Yeah i let mine lapse too for the time being. Might go Gold again now that KUF:COD is out and me and a friend like playing games like that Coop.

Yeah, I complain about batteries for the Wii too lol I actually went and bought the Charge Station for it.

Things like wireless adapters and rechargable controllers are little expenses that most people don't factor in when they buy a console. Myself, I didn't even know that I needed batteries for either til I bought them. After I got PS3 I assumed that was a standard. You're pretty much going to have to buy them, but if they charged you the money up front with the console it would hurt their sales.
