1up New exclusive FFXI Interview

I wonder something..

First, I don't think that was a duo. There was a Hume and an Elvaan in the party (who were skillchaining, so I don't think it was an NPC or anything). Unless PUP can summon multiple pets that look like PC's, but I doubt that.

Second, and possibly most intriguing to me, is that I dont' remember EVER seeing an elvaan hold a one handed sword like that, or a hume like he was holding his sword. I wonder, are they adding different sword styles to the game? I mean.. not just weapon styles or weapon skills, but actually different variations of swordplay?

Could be interesting.

Well, they are fighting three bosses :P Ajido-marujido and all those other guys. The bosses are SC'ing on them :P

And also, you can see occasionally when he opens the chat log that there are only 2 people in the party, and that the puppet is counted as a pet (seeing as how it have a HP bar)

that elvaan is Prince Trion , the hume is Captain Volker and the taru is Minister Ajido-Marujido ....

I read up somewhere that during the Festival they had an event where you could face either Volker of Bastok, Ajido-Marujido of Windurst, and Trion of San d'Oria in a Party vs 1, Party vs 2, or Party vs 3. So me thinks that could have been Blue Mage and Puppet Master duoing. >.>

Ahh, okay. I couldn't really tell, and from what I was seeing it looked like it was three people fighting one mob, and SCing. So much for the different swordplay styles idea, would have been cool though.

Such weaksause. The BLU in the video did spirits within, a plain old sword WS. Guess that throws the whole "Scimitar seperating from the other swords as its own class" rumor out the window. Looked like Puppeteer was H2H all the way too. For some reason she only ever did combo, but with no natural MP, I would assume a nice SJ for this class is gonna be MNK. Kinda lame how once the puppet died it never came back. I wonder if you have to buy your puppets, like the goblin dolls in jeuno, or if they just have a recast on them like a DRGs wyvrn. The job almost seems as though it were a reverse DRG, where the Wyvrn does the majority of the damage while the player just kinda swats away off the the side.

or it might be because the PUP use an as-of-yet unreleased weapon, which they didn't want to reveal yet. 'cause if you look at the vid, she don't even have a weapon equipped (as in, meleeing bare-handed).

The puppetmaster looked like it was useless <.<

Blue magic casting looks pretty cool. Looked like the Blue mage did all the work.

I agree, after watching that video I have to say the PUP looked almost entirely useless. The BLU had hate most of the time, the pet didn't seem like it was doing a hell of a lot of damage, and since it wasn't summoned again after dying I can only conclude that it either has a long recast time (Ie: The same problem we had with the DRG two hour), items are required to summon them, or some other unforseen yet equally speculative reason that the Puppet-master was without puppet (Maybe SE just wants to keep their abilities a bit of a secret for now).

I'm betting on that one.

The reason PUP seemed so gimp in the video is because, SE doesnt want to reveal its true power.....so they probably held back...alot.

I'm with that, if you notice, the PUP did nothing, and the BLU didn't do much either. So whatever PUP's capable of, they're not gonna let us find out until they want us to. Hell, they didn't want to show us the pet resummon animation, because that might give something away.

I was actually thinking that as I was trying to see what the BLU casting animation looked like.

I almost have a feeling that each puppet will be different in a means of being a "healing puppet", "support puppet", "tank puppet", and "dd puppet".

I mean.....with DRGs, depending on our SJ, our wyvern's change at a type of basic lvl which is somewhat similar to this. I dont think the PUP's SJ will matter though, but who knows.

well, the reason the BLU had hate all the time is because it was casting Blue Magic spells... a LOT. And not to forget the BLU actually had a weapon equipped (which the PUP didn't).

Besides, I' mguessing that SE don't want to reveal too much about the job. More will most likely be released within a week I'm sure.

The BLU was casting alot of spells just for the fact that ppl could get a taste of some of the spells that BLU would be able to learn. I'm sure the whole thing was well orcistrated.

offcourse it was. Neither of them lost HP nor MP

Yes, which is why it unveiled nothing about PUP, I was just being sarcastic about the chainnuking BLU :P But knowing SE, we won't know shit about PUP until a week before ToAU, if not a few days :(
