2010 NHL Playoffs! Woooo!

Yeah the Wings got a bad lot against the Sharks for sure, but game four was madness! Lmao

Game 7 in Pittsburgh. Halak the Wall will need to hold off the Pens offence one more time. Also, Nucks are done.

Habs win. Now the Hawks just need to clear through the Sharks (which they did in the regular season) and the cup is coming to Chicago. Sorry but the East isn't the same caliber hockey as the west.

Wait... what?

I believe the East has won the All Star game more then the West....
Sure the East has lolLeafs... but they've also won the cup 5 out of the last 9 times in recent years...

Just [utting it out there..... although.. if I had to choose of the teams left.... I would probably say the sharks

The allstar game doesn't count for shit as it's the allstar game in determining the best conference. The east has the best scorer (Ovechkin), the best over all player (Crosby), and the best goalie, imo, in the league (Ryan Miller).

The west top to bottom, if you exclude the Oilers, are the better conference. Which is why the west only had 1 team under 100 points in the playoffs. The west had 5 teams under 90 points. 2 of which were at 89 and 88 points. If you have 7 100 point teams that means they beat up on their eastern opponents, but themselves as well.

I think this is the first time the conference finals have rolled around, and every team in it I can justify earning the cup, lol. The sharks have made it past their usual chokefest, the Hawks came from 10+ years of suck to make it there twice in a row, Montreal came from having the WORST record of the teams in the playoffs to topple the presidents trophy winners as well as the defending champs, Boston has worked hard with nothing to show for a long time, and Philly made it into the playoffs on the back of a SHOOTOUT. Great playoffs? Or Greatest Playoffs.

It's been a great playoff. Although stressful sometimes with inconsistency especially at home. Which is why I kind of worry about the finals for the Hawks. They've been kinda bad at the Madhouse. I don't know why, but when the Hawks fell down 2-0 both games against Vancouver it just got dead quiet. The Sharks can say the Shark Tank is loud, but your ears end up ringing in the Madhouse.

Flyers came back from a 3 game deficit against the Bruins. 0-3 in the series, to bump it up to 3-3 tonight. Game 7, they were down 0-3 in the 1st period, ended up winning both the game and the series with a score of 4-3., for the first time in over 30 years in NHL history. That is poetry if I ever saw it.

Oh, and for the shit talking:

BOSTON? MORE LIKE BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWSTON LOL

Unbelieveable, congrats to the Flyers... They definately earned it. Gonna be a heck of an Eastern Conference final between Philly coming back from down 3-0 and Montreal beating both Washington & Pittsburgh. There's not enough good karma and/or destiny to go around.

Flyers win. Third team in the history of the entire leauge to come back from 3-0 down. AND they came back from 3-0 down in the game to win the GAME and SERIES 4-3. Destiny anyone?

The west looks boring, 1 Vs 2, yawn predictable.

The east? The team that shouldn't be there vs the team that also shouldn't be there. And in the end, a team that NO ONE would have picked to be in the cup finals will be there. Insanity. Whoever makes it will have a huge pile of Destiny helping them win the cup.

Lol Destiny wont mean much when the east is outplayed by either west contender because the skill difference is that huge. Plus the Hawks have a deep bench that can score no matter which line is out there.

If you really want to say destiny is going to back anyone up, I'd say the Hawks after quite a number of years of sucking and the Sharks choking so much have more destiny than the Flyers or Canadiens. The Bruins just showed that Tim Thomas isn't that good. A lot of people have said that. The Flyers usually look like contenders, but always just show that they are pretenders. I'll take the Canadiens in the series because they have the hot goalie right now. But come down to the cup, I don't see the east winner coming up with the win.

If 1 v 2 is predictable that means that the best teams are playing for the conference. Remember only one point separated the Sharks and Hawks for the 1 seed.

Yes, but predictable is boring in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I've mostly ignored the west action, because nothing special happened. About the closest thing there was San Jose not choking in the first round, which would've resulted in something interesting with a lower seed.

And you can call east vs west a horrible mismatch.... But so was each opponent both Montreal and Philly faced. Knocking off the Presidents cup AND defending champs? Dumping NJ in 5 and making history against the Bruins? In hockey, Momentum is everything, and the east is a freight train running downhill right now.

Whoever wins is going to give the Hawks a big run, that's for sure.

1 V 2 is boring and predicatble....
With the mix of injuries, momentum and odd bounces, the best team in the season is not always the last team standing.

Washington for gods sake was nearly 20 points clear of 2nd in the East AND they were 8 points clear of the Sharks and Hawks..... and we know what happened to Washington.

And even still remember last year?
If you want to use numbers... the Red Wings were 13 points ahead of Pittsburg in the regular season... and Pittsburg still won the Cup.
Maybe Montreal/Flyers might do the same thing this year.

One last thing... Chicago lost to the Flyers in the regular season.... and beat San Jose. So if we want to look at that for reference, then you better hope for something other then predictable... otherwise Chicago is not winning the cup

If the 1 v 2 seed is predictable then why hasn't it happened since 1995 up until this point? Because it's not predictable.

The Sharks are also notorious for choking in the second round. 2006 against the Oilers. 2008 against the Stars. 2009 was the only year they choked in the first round against the Ducks. 2010 many had them as the underdogs against the Hawks because their 3 and 4 line suck. That's why they were dressing 7 d-men.

The difference is Kristobal Huet was in goal against the Flyers. He just stopped playing goalie and decided to play defensemen and hack at someone. There's a huge difference between Niemi and Huet. Niemi is actually decent. Huet is a career back-up.

You want more stats? Hossa isn't far off of the Flyers top scorer and Hossa missed 25 games in the regular season. Johnathon Toews missed 6 games with a knee injury he'd probably have 28 to 30 goals putting him 1 to 3 goals behind the Flyers top scorer. Kris Versteeg would be on the flyers 1 line when he's on the Hawks' checking line. He still tallied 20 goals when he was on the god damn checking line! Lets not begin to compare the defense of the Hawks to the Flyers.

The Caps lost because it shows you how bad the East is that the President winners were knocked off in the first round. It just goes to show that you can have the best scorer in the league, but it doesn't matter if only one person is good on that team they can win. The Devils and Sabres were knocked off because it shows that if you can't score goals there's not much your goalie can do. You have to have a goalie and be able to score goals. You need a balanced team.

If you honestly think that the Flyers stand a chance against the Hawks who are the best team in the league. Then I think you'd believe that it could snow in hell.

You and I can talk about the same stats over and over again but you know what? We are the underdogs, we proved all the naysayers wrong all season. So you can line up the stats all you want, but when it comes down to it, it's all about the moment. We are going to win.

Series tied at two.... What was that about being completely outplayed by the superior western skill?

3-2 now.

I must say that both sides have played both shitty and well. Game 1 was horrible on both sides. Game 2 was better playing on both sides, with the Hawks coming out on top. Game 3 was a nailbite with the OT and Game 4 was another solid victory for the Flyers.

All together though, neither team has won a game at the opposing side's stadium. I can see this going to game 7 easily.

Both Niemi and Leighton have performed well as goalies despite their losses.

To be honest, if the Hawks win, they deserve it. They have been playing well. If the Flyers win, they deserve it too, they came back from near impossible odds to get this far.

Let the best team win.
