It's being denied of course(just like the $500 60 gig was), but seems very likely with so many reliable insiders confirming it.

If it happens, anyone going to bite?

PS3 is building up decent exclusives with more on the way this year and early 08. blu-ray catalog is getting really beefy and some huge releases coming this fall.

I'll bite if it's $400 for sure. Though it doesn't seem right for them to be dropping the price so much this early in it's lifespan. Makes me think the PS4 will be out in 2 more years....lol

$400 eh? awesome :D I just wish all the uber games I've been looking forward to would come out right now x.x (Assassin's Creed, GTA IV, Prototype, Borderland, to an extent FFXIII, etc)

I just hope PS3 has plenty of RPG games in its future just like its presuccessors..... which I'm sure it will.

Price of the PS3 has never been a problem for me in the long run vs 360:

Elite System: 450
HD DVD Player: 180
Wireless Adapter: 100
Total: 730

PS3: 600
HDMI Cable: 50
Total: 650

unfortunately, people never realized that hehe... but hey, people are stupid.

Wireless on the 360 is only "necessary" if you're going to have it as far from your router/computer as possible and you're too lazy to just run a cord and keep it out of the way. The HD-DVD drive isn't important either because you can just direct download the movies onto your hard drive, so the actual unit is unnecessary. PS3 has more bundled with it, but you're paying more for features you aren't necessarily going to use. With the Premium coming with a HDMI port on it now, you could just grab that for $370 and the only "loss" is a smaller hard drive.

Did you know the "Premium" is going to be sold without the HDMI cable? One of the big fuck you's to Sony is now removed from non-Elites that have HDMI ports.

And I was talking for my own perspective on the price because I would require all of those things. My router is in my basement and I'm on the second floor due to poor cable installation. I can't physically run a network cable to my room. The hard drive is a must and even bigger now because of the recently added "HD Required" sticker they've been putting on newer games such as the recent Oblivion re-release. HD movies are another requirement for me and, I don't know about you guys but I prefer having a physical copy of all things I own, so that I do in fact own them.

Marketplace stamps everything as "owned" to your xbox live account once you've purchased. So as long as you don't lose that, you can delete/redownload as you see fit.

So you have to pay another $10 for a crappy HDMI cable like the PS3 owners, honestly I'd be surprised if anything came with and HDMI cable. I haven't seen any consumer electronics come packaged with an HDMI cable before, the closest thing has been a DVI cable with monitors, but never HDMI.

Yeah, you'd definitely need wireless for that; but your situation is exactly what I was talking about. Your 360 is going to be as far as possible from the router, so while it's definitely a must for you, your situation is pretty rare. I can understand wanting to own an actual copy of the disk, but not everyone feels the same way and it can be pretty nice not having to store and search through all of the disks to find the movie you want. I personally don't care either way, owning the disk would make it easier to lend it out to friends or take it with me, but I don't travel with DVD's that often anyways.

Yeah, so for you personally, the PS3 is a better buy for the money just because you'll actually make use of those attached features. For me though, my router is sitting about 5 feet from my big screen TV, so wireless would be an unnecessary expense.

If true, yes I'll bite. Right away.

Me too possibly.

But then again, if it has 0 backwards compatibility, fuck that.

Actually it's truthfully never been about the price. I loved the PS2 and never owned an xbox. In the end I went with the 360 though, and not because of price. I've learned that the PS3 could be $200 and still not outsell the WII or 360. Why? It just doent have the library or super exclusives. Losing GTA and Devil May Cry will hurt future console sales since alot of these people already own the 360. Metal Gear is a good game but it will not be a console seller.

Xbox has console sellers. Halo (overrated or not) is a system seller. 300 million was made the first week. Heavenly Sword and Liar did not match up with critics to Bioshock and what im pretty sure might get rpg of the year or game of the year in Mass Effect. Blue Dragon while not the greatest RPG did well and thats something the PS3 still lacks. Hell I almost forgot Halo Wars and Gears of War, Lost Oddesey, Fable 2, and Infinite Undiscovery. The non exclusives... Assasins Creed, Devil May Cry, and Grand Theft auto will all sell alot more copies on the xbox. That will hurt Sony. They should have never let go of Grand Theft Auto.

I mean whats Sony's next big exclusive that will help the system alot? MGS and Ratchet and Clank (lol i like Ratchet and Clank and the game looks awesome) but it's still not enough. Final Fantasy XIII? Pffft that game is in shambles right now and it's looking more like 09.

Not trying to start a war, i love sony (I own a psp too). They just made a mistake by letting go of their exclusives. They could have done something about it but they chose to ignore it. I'm not saying the system sucks by any means. Its more powerful then the xbox, but that doesnt mean squat it sony doesnt care about there player base and ignores them. I have a couple gamer magazines, Game Informer being the one I read most.

The editor started out with a great read. Talking about the exclusives and sony better start getting serious, and how the fanbase has been screaming for a rumble feature but Sony still hasnt supplied. He said they could drop the price all they want, but thats never really been the problem. Players want a Gamerscore (copy microsoft somewhat..who cares, its what alot of players want), get a rumble feature, try hard for some great exclusives etc.

I for one hope Sony picks up the pace. I want a reason to buy the Playstation.

Why do people still think GTA, DMC, and Resident Evil and other games were Sony Exclusive (PS2 or PS1) when they were never exclusive to Sony? :| bah whatever.

I agree that the library is weak with PS3 right now, but I don't find X-Box's much better. All X-Box games were on computer. And I could run them on my computer. Why pay for the system when I could just install it on my current owned computer? 360 seems it'll be the same. Granted some will come out a few months after 360, I don't mind waiting. I have enough to entertain me and enough things to do to work out. The only games I really want from X-Box' library and seem to not be going anywhere else are Dead Rising and Mass Effect. Halo is ridiculously overrated and gonna be on PC in due time. Halo 1 and 2 are. Fable is on PC, Fable 2 will be as well. Halo 3 will be, I'll guarantee it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 most definitely seems like it could be a system seller to me. It actually DOES provide something new for a TPS/FPS shooter.. I've seen few if any that have what it does. And it's story seems far more involved than others *Shrugs* we'll see though.

And lol.. that's retarded. Why would they do that? PS3 with no backward compatibility.. so dumb.

I can understand the move with people making their first real jump into the video game console market; if they don't own a ton of PS2 games, they don't really need backwards compatibility. From the release I linked, it would seem their internal research doesn't show a lot of demand for the feature.

But, since I own dozens of PS1/PS2 games, it's important to me. I'll pass on this model.

Well what I meant by exclusive is that DMC and GTA didnt come out for anything but the Playstation, pretty much making it an exclusive. GTA did not come out for the xbox or nintendo.

I'm not telling you which games to like or not (im not a huge halo fan), im just going by the average general populace. Those titles you might not like still sale alot though, which in turns brings even more exclusives to the system. Soon one system will lose all it's exclusives to other systems while the top system will maintain exclusives (gosh i got tongue tied lol) and get even more because of $$$.

Why do you think the Nintendo and Super Nintendo owned in the late 80's all the ways til the mid 90's? They had all the best exclusives til they lost them and haven't been the same since. The Playstation 1 and 2 buried all the other systems because they had games you could only play with the Playstation and the bigest third party developers (ff,gta, dmc). Think if FFVII and Grand Theft Auto came out on the Dreamcast instead?? Sega might be the dominant system.

Platformers aren't the measure for a system and how much it makes. It's the exclusives and it always has been. Like I said im not bashing them at all. I'm just explaining why they are failing right now. Alot of playstation only titles have now become platformers. History shows the system that has the most and best exclusives always buries the other systems in the end.

Also just because the game comes out on the both the xbox and pc, doesn't make the xbox not worth the price. Usually games like Halo, take over a year or 2 to be released on the PC. Also, Bioshock and Gears of War (took over a year to release) for the PC cost alot more to run. The game will lag unless you have a topend system. The Xbox with HD gives you way more bang for your buck.

If the Playstation 3 can get Final Fantasy and maybe some other good rpgs, ill probably get it, but thats not in the near future. Til then, ill just enjoy my PSP by sony. To me it had a slow start, but now it's coming on strong and
it's about to be an unstoppable freight train. Here's hoping the PS3 will at least follow what the PSP did. Slow start but will eventually gain alot of momentum.
