$400 40 gig rumor.

I can understand the move with people making their first real jump into the video game console market; if they don't own a ton of PS2 games, they don't really need backwards compatibility. From the release I linked, it would seem their internal research doesn't show a lot of demand for the feature.

But, since I own dozens of PS1/PS2 games, it's important to me. I'll pass on this model.
Their "internal research" department is retarded. You've got the most popular console in history, and they think that the tens of millions of owners are going to be happy not being able to play their entire library of games? It's more likely their desperate to come up with any way they can to cut costs so they can do a price drop to get the console to actually sell; so they might actually turn a profit this decade.

I don't buy it's something people would buy as their first console. For people's first foray into video games, the Wii is infinitely more likely. It's cheaper, easier to pick up, most of the games are something you can pick up and play for an hour and then put down and it's a ton of fun. The PS3 is still a hardcore-only console.

Was a year changed to 4 months while I was on the can?

And seriously, to say that MGS4 won't be a system seller is the most naive statement I've heard in a long time. If it wasn't, 360 owners wouldn't be foaming at the mouth at any hint of a port, however imaginary it may be.

Not saying it isnt popular but a MGS game has never sold over 7 million units. Which means it barely cracks top 10 selling PS2 or PS1 titles of all time. So yeah it wont bring people to buy the console.

Grand Theft Auto 3, and Vice City wasnt even released on the xbox til 05. Thats over 2 years. San Andreas was released Oct 2004 on the PS2. Not released til the End of July of 05 for the xbox.

Another point I make. It's not just games it's everything. Not rumble feature, can't play old games, no gamerscores (which alot of people want).

It's a much more attractive deal with the BC, there's still a market here though. Namely people who don't mind holding onto their PS2s and want to save 100 bucks. If it was me I'd just pay another 100 to be able to upscale PS1 and PS2 games and get brand new hardware to play PS2 games.

But seriously, if you want to talk about fucking stupid.

This is a model without the ability to play PS2 games. That doesn't negatively affect PS3 games from a developer standpoint. If you want to call people retarded, knock on the door of the guy who thought up the Xbox 360 core.

The 360 and PS3 both now have a larger price range with lots of optional things, the only difference is that no PS3 model is an anchor that'd hurt developers by limiting them.

Well the #1 and #2 box office movies this year are both blu-ray exclusives.

If you give a shit about Transformers(I don't), you can import a blu-ray version from South Korea when it comes out.

And the 1 and 2 movies being what exactly? Harry Twatter?

No way Pirates 3 is number 1 or 2. I would not be surprised if it was not in the top 10. It was shit compared to the first 2. Spiderman maybe, only reason i say maybe is for the title. Its Spiderman, does not mean the movie is good.

Sorry but Transformers is the "next gen" movie of the YEAR! Don't sugar-coat shit. It would of look awesome on Blu-Ray, but for some reason they didn't get it. That is why i have a HDDVD also.

I do admit i was projecting my own views on the Pirates movie, i personally didn;t like it. I think that Transformers will be the best LOOKING movie though. And what % of the world has Blu-Ray? Or a capability(sp) of using it to its max? I can but when i was selling PS3's these fucking idiots are asking me for AV Cables. They didn't even have HD 3 plug-in.

and by AV i mean the Red Yellow White. And these people didn't have the Blue Green Red. The thing is, people are not able to fully appreciate Blu-Ray or HDDVD for that matter. Just a personal opinion.

People are stupid, I can't help that. Most Xbox 360 and PS3 owners with HD TVs aren't using HD cables.

How important is Paramount to me?

Well in all the time that Paramount was supporting Bluray...

1/32 of my movies were Paramount. I was intending to buy 1 other, Patriot Games. May Clear and Present Danger too. Maybe not though.

Of all the Universal movies, what would I buy?

Serenity and Army of Darkness. Jurassic Park if they end up releasing that. That would be fucking boss in high def.

What am I planning on getting still?

The spiderman trilogy, pirates 3, the die hard collection, the simpsons movie and superbad. All are blu-ray exclusives.

Who owns James Bond? Sony.

Who distributes Star Wars? Fox.

Look at my movie list... the ~ are after blu exclusives.

Fact is, if you have a HDTV and you're a gamer, the PS3 is an important device. My place has 2 high defs, 2 ps3s, an xbox 360, 2 wiis and a high end gaming PC.

What do I spend most of my time doing? Fucking around on the internet.

What do I do after that? Mostly watch blu-rays or episodes of house/scrubs/always sunny in phily that I got off bittorrent.

Would I buy Transformers on Blu-ray if I didn't have to go through the annoyance of importing it? Nope. An HD DVD player wouldn't be worth finding a place to put it by my TV, let alone spending hundreds of dollars on a dying format.

I got the HDDVD for my 360. Now having the Elite it runs on HDMI. I seein no difference in HDDVD and Blu-Ray. I do think Blu-Ray has better sound.

Tangent: Why do people even like Transformers? It's not even.. that interesting XD and it was just another action mindless flick with no real good plot, no good character development.. just pure crap :| *shrugs*

No kidding.

Couples years later lol. Most people aren't willing to wait that long.

True, but one of the reasons why the new Metal Gear Solid game isn't selling me on the PS3 is realizing it will most likely be ported over to the 360. I don't care if it's a year later; the series is good, but their releases are not exactly life-changing events to me.
