$400 40 gig rumor.

Its called sarcasm, I use it, apparently you don't.

Because sarcasm transfers oh so well over the internet. I prefer to be blunt.

All of those games are good in their own right, but this whole thing is based on personal opinion.

Yes, it is. Thats what we are discussing.

Some people could find Resistance more than enough of a reason to buy a ps3, some could find Heavenly Sword more than enough. Hell someone could find Ninja Gaiden Sigma a reason to buy it, it all comes down to what the person wants. And if they just wanna buy it to have it, I don't think that should be a bad thing.

I don't know anything about Resistance, but i'm sure anyone you ask won't want to pay ~$600 for a system and a game you will only get ~7hrs of play out of before you beat it. No one ever said its a bad thing to have a PS3.

If you have the money, why not?

Why not? Is the only true correct answer in this discussion, but once you break out that card there is no longer a point to the discussion. If i have the money, or wanna save up for it ( ) why not buy a 747?

This is the reason. Right now is what matters. Next year doesn't do someone much good, when they are looking to buy now.

Holy shit, dude. You know absouletly nothing about the 360 failure rates. You're even worse than when Firestreak used to talk about a biased online poll saying that failure rates were 66%. Its no where near a 75% failure rate. Where do you even get these numbers? I'm not gonna bother looking at your youtube link, because its even less credible then shit like wikipedia.
You are an idiot, and the worst PS3 fanboy i've seen. Ever.

Well for $500 it better not fucking break down. Its also had an extra year (maybe more) of fine tuning?

Free online, yeah thats great, but you don't realize what you are paying for on xbox live, and thats the cross game chat/invites. I'm more than happy to pay $50/year to have a feature i wouldn't normally have, that i use a whole lot every day. You don't need a gold account to get demos, just FYI. You have shown you don't know a whole lot about anything.

And the Blu-ray. Where the PS3 actually wins. However, most people don't have a need for. Not a whole lot of people, that i know of would replace their whole DVD collection, for Blu-ray. It would be a better point for you to talk about the PS3's ability to upscale DVDs. A feature that i just learned about today that almost made me go and buy a PS3 now.

Its pretty stupid to buy something now for a single game you are getting in the future. Which is what most people are doing. Bugs can be fixed, hardware can be improved, and any other number of things could be improved upon in that time.

More exclusives *on the way* doesn't do any good now.

Try to bring some intelligent conversation, or at least get your baseline facts straight. You're worse than the 360tards out there.

lol lol lol. Even though you skip the point where I said PS3 still has good games, just not exclusives. As long as I have good games to play, I'm good to go. And where did I say buy a system for a single game? And who wants to keep going to the store when a Xbox breaks down? I know I don't lol.

If there's no good exlcusives, there's no reason to buy the PS3 over the 360; you can get the exact same games, but along with the 360's exclusives. No one buys a console because it's got good multi-platforms, they buy it for the exclusives.

Well there's a few reasons to buy a PS3 over 360 other than exclusives.

1) Free online.
2) Hardware reliability.
3) Blu-ray player.
4) Backwards compability. (in most models)
5) Brand loyalty.

Not saying these are all huge factors but they've got some effect. Especially the hardware reliability. It's pretty well known knowledge among gamers the problems with the 360 and if nothing else it's keeping people on the PS2 and Wii.

To be honest the only real reason i've not got a 360 yet is because of the RROD crap.

PS3 will eventually get a ton more exclusives than 360 due to the full Japan support.

Nah this is a myth nowadays. The Japan market barely makes up 10% of all game markets world wide. Actually developers in Japan are now trying to broaden their horizons by introducing new things in Japan. Thats why the 360 is slowly getting developers in Japan to make games... Lost Oddessey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant. The only thing they really don't have so far are the Final Fantasy titles. Hell even Japan is trying to leave Japan.

We'll just have to see. Im sure japan has been holding back on the 360 because its low selling in Japan, and also the fact that generally America doesnt enjoy the same type of games. I think the PS3 will get more support in japan, even if they are JP only titles.

You can't count Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey as signs of Japanese support. These are games Microsoft financed with their own money.

On the other hand, Dead Rising and Lost Planet was published by Capcom.

Of course what the PS3 and Wii is gonna get is tons of Japanese titles that never get brought here. PS3 games are region free but... they aren't gonna have any language support.

To be honest the only real reason i've not got a 360 yet is because of the RROD crap.

And the trouble is they stuffed the retail channels with so many 360s so they could inflate their sales this year... that if the new model's solved the RROD we can't buy safely until 2008.

You caught me, I was clearly doing my very best at being a stupid version of Firestreak, you win. You are cleeearly just tooo smart and witty for me. I mean, honestly the BEST games on a system should be out directly following launch, I mean thats the way it is with every system. Wii got WiiSports, Xbox360 got Kameo, PS3 should get something AWESOME like Kameo at launch, not shit like Motorstorm or pff Resistance.

Take Xbox360 back to year 1, what games did it have that were awesome!? Uh.. I think Gears of War made it into Year 1 didnt it? Its going to PC, no longer cool cause its on multiple systems orz.

"The Xbox 360 didn't launch with a killer app. The system's outstanding games came in the form of a PC port with Call of Duty 2, and an Xbox Live Arcade game, Geometry Wars Evolved."

"Yes, the 360 been out a year longer, but that should only affect the quantity of games, not the quality."

You're joking right? You realize most people picked up a Wii for Zelda: TP. Then within 6 months of Zelda: TP Wii got Super Paper Mario. Shortly after Paper Mario Mario Party 8 not my kind of game, but hey some people enjoy it. In August Metroid Prime 3 came out. November Mario Galaxy. February SSBB.

People were just surprised about Wii Sports actually being a fun party game.

Where is Sony rolling out their games? That list is pretty solid and I don't see how Sony can catch up seeing as though they lost DMC and Monster Hunter 3's exclusivity what's next?

Blu-Ray, Free Online etc. Pretty much what Fire said. Plus there ARE good exclusives already out(just not many), AND there's more otw. R&C anyone?

EDIT: Me saying the PS3 has no exclusives in previous post was my mistake.

You comparing Mario Party 8 to Warhawk and Heavenly Sword and expect to be taken seriously?

I was saying Nintendo isn't waiting forever and a day to release the games that sell. Hell they're doing a brilliant job of releasing their big ticket games. Have one at launch, have one 6 months later, 2 months later, and a month later. Then 3 months for Super Mario Galaxy after Metroid Prime 3 and 3 months after SMG is SSBB. It's fucking brilliant they aren't keeping their customers waiting long for their games. Sony should learn something about marketing instead of sitting on the can.

Warhawk and Heavenly Sword aren't exactly moving the system now are they? Fun games, but not system sellers especially with how short Heavenly Sword is. If you even mention Killzone 2 I'll just laugh my ass off at you. Fat chance on the game being done right this time. We don't even know when the damn thing is suppose to be out.

Games like Mario Party 8 sell because they have a loyal following and they are mindless fun(which isn't bad for a whole lot of people), but they are poor quality because they were originally slated for gamecube and got ported quickly and Wii-mote controls tacked on. Not to say the devs aren't capable of better or Nintendo isn't... but they didn't showed much until Metroid Prime came out.

Wii is in a league of its own, and I mean that in the best way. I don't think it even needs to be in this debate.

Actually it does seeing as though sales have slowed down since the first initial amount of ZMG! has calmed down. Yes the Wii is leading right now (not in sales because the 360 has a christmas on both system). PS3 can learn from Nintendo seeing as though Nintendo stumbled with the Gamecube.

Am I the only person that loved the N64 and PS1?

Well stuff like Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, WiiWare, all that hasnt even come out yet, and im sure they'll all boost sales in some way.
Nintendo will eventually just buy the world and we'll all be able to jump around planets to kill bee queens. It'll be awesome! At least for me.

Obviously you didn't think to pick up sport games for the Wii. They utilize the controls damn near perfectly. I can't say Mario Party 8 just got the Wii controls just tacked on. The only sports game that I have been disappointed with is Tiger Woods 08 with the controls it seems like EA doesn't care about golf. Where as Madden 08 and The Bigs are solid games control wise. Still some little problems, but not really noticeable. So no Metroid isn't the first game to really utilize the motion sensing well.
