A continuation of last year's organ harvesting scandal

ffs I understand what he's trying to say.

He's saying he respects that people do not do it because it's not mandatory to do it. He respects that people keep their organs because they have the right to do so. However, he does not approve of that right. It almost sounds like he is contradicting himself, but if you really think about it and think about this without trying to just prove someone wrong, you may understand also.

This pretty much sums it up. Reading what I post, I can totally understand why people think I'm contradicting myself. I don't hold anything against people for keeping their organs, I just don't share the same belief. Respect is a personal definition - I believe I do respect the fact that people want to keep their own organs, despite the fact I believe it would be better if things were changed. I also respect the right of American's to possess guns, though I don't think it's the way it should be. I don't tolerate it, because I live in a different country. This, for me anyway, is the definition of respect in this context, and it's pretty much the only way I can think to compare it.

Apologies for not being clearer, but the words I'd need to use to clearly show my opinion elude me. I don't believe disagreeing with something has to mean you can't also respect it.

Wait we can have guns? I thought we could have bear arms...

What if I want to arm bears?

I agree with BigBroon. The granting of rights is always a balancing act of personal liberty versus public good, and I think this is a case where public good should outweigh personal liberty. Slippery slope counterarguments need not apply, for the only right I'm in favor of revoking is the right to one's organs/body after death. I don't respect people's decisions not to donate organs. I do respect the law, so I don't actively disrespect the people for it, but I totally disrespect their decision in my head, and when speaking in a generic manner. I'm a hypocrite for so many things, so if I'm still a hypocrite here, than fair enough, no skin off my back. I think the world would be a better place if I were its supreme leader.
