I'm curious to how this works. I'd like to start being a little more creative with signatures and banners. I have gotten a creative bug lately, how do you start with signature making? and the models from final fantasy, where does all this come from?

I understand this may sound a bit noobish but if you saw my home PC... you'd understand why I never thought about it. My PC at work is much faster and would love to have something to work on at lunch or something so... a little help?
 
In order to get the pictures of FF characters you'll use in a signature/wallpaper, you'll need to download one of the two programs:

As for designing the backround and adding effects, the program I would recommend using is Photoshop. There are some free programs out there, like GIMP (I think that's what it is called) however they don't have all the nice little tools and effects that Photoshop has.

Depending on the program you use, I can give you some quick steps on how to extract your character and put it into a backround you've made. (Usually keep signature size 500x200 pixels)

If you're looking for a place to learn various effects to make your backround, I would recommend www.good-tutorials.com. That site has some very nice tutorials
 
Side Note...

I don't Play on PC so ... I wouldn't have any of these models to start with.
 
If you don't have FFXI on the pc, then those programs won't work which means you'll have to either google for some pictures, or request some poses from someone that does. I'd recommend the latter, because the quality of pictures you find on google won't be that great and if you plan to take your character images from in game screenshots, the difficulty of extracting the character will be much higher.
 
Unfortunately you'll need FFXI on PC for those to work like Zera said. If you need pics from it though, and I'm on and not busy or even if I'm not on or I am busy, I wouldn't mind lending a hand if you send me a PM and I'll take some pics for you when I can.
 
*sigh* well, guess i'll start downloading final fantasy to my work PC...
