A Question of Dire Importance: BST Related, WAR Input Valued.

This is more along the lines of what will provide better overall performance: The jump to Woodville's from Tabarzin with Osode's Stats, or keeping the STR+5 DEX+5 Attack+10 Accuracy+10.
The change from Tabarzin to Woody will not be massive, in TP nor WS. The str+5 from Woody alone might be somewhat noticable, but you're flattening out anyways since you'd be selling Hauby for it.

By selling Haub for Woody, assuming you're not DWing, you're gaining 1 base dmg at the loss of 10acc 7.5atk (technically).

Yes, yes, yes, hauby > osode, I get that. My question is BY HOW MUCH? Is it going to be a huge difference that will be easily apparent, or is it just a minor boost that I'd really only see with a parser?
You'll still need a parser to tell the difference DoT wise, but Rampages specifically are where you'll see the diff with the naked eye. If my Rampages are being erratic with TP return, I swap in O-hat instead of my str helm and immediately see consistant numbers in TP and (usually) dmg. The acc alone makes Haubanything such a creamer; the other stats are just icy cream sugar on the creamcake of ice sugar creaminess. Cake.

on ninja, hauby over osode is hugely noticeable. It's the difference between around 350-400 ws's and 500-600 ws's speaking of consistency. TPing in osode is just lol. This was before Katana merits, but the accuracy really does count for a lot.

The big turn off for Maneater is the fact that I melee over 100% TP, and dropping down damage and losing the hidden effects for a chunk of the fight seems to defeat it's usefulness.

Also, level cap is what Full Combat Skill Merited Monk is for. I have no intention of ever playing BST in a capped fight. Haubergeon, Kabrakan's Axe and Strike Shield were the only BST-specific capped gear I kept around, because of their use in Pulling The Strings.

Sell the osode, keep the hauby and buy all the axes you want.

He has a MNK, dood =P

I guess it depends on what you intend to use a 75BST for in the first place. In most situations, though, the att/acc bonus from Maneater will be far more useful than some more damage/str from Woodville. Same goes for Haubergeon/Hauberk, really. Maybe if BST got a real melee JA instead of WTFeral Howl it'd be a bit different, but til then...

Hmm, get a togi, sell the osode, keep the hauby, then by all the axes you want. /fixed

:)

Glad to see you didn't listen to everybody about Maneater... It's not that useful for BST unless you have a crew that will let you cannon with them.

I don't have experience with Tabarzin versus Woody, but in regards to the body armor, to be quite honest I'd keep the osode and sell the Hauby.

Here's why...
I normally go out as BST/WHM as I'm not overly thrilled with /NIN. (Well probably because I'm lazy and want to be able to port...)

Anyway, 90% of the time as a 75 BST, I'm meleeing in an accuracy setup with a gaudy harness and bison kecks to start the fight. I'll swap up to galliard trousers(used to be thick breeches) after hate is established and if anything, I switch to haste gear versus STR gear until the kill shot with Rampage.

I've got the gaudy harness the majority of time because 49 mp is basically eatten with Regen or Protect II and Dia II... So, got to recharge for next fight. The only time I use my hauberk other than skill up, is for WS macro. So, if you don't mind using food, Osode should be just fine.

As a reference point, I xp on goobs and mamools and don't have a ton of issues with accuracy, etc. Normally accuracy setup uses O.hat, snipersX2, life belt, assault earring, PCC, and bison wristbands with tinkering for haste/str depending on hit rate.

So, if you're planning to solo on BST all the time, I think Osode is just fine. If you're going to party, then the Hauby probably is worth holding on to.

If you want more conclusive data, I can bum an osode from a friend and parse out some results for you Skaw. I'll have to reinstall/find a new parser though apparently.

It's like Damita said. Basically at 75 Bst, I haven't found a decent camp yet that didn't involve fighting DC-low T (I HAAATE Dhamels, so I don't count them), so ACC is not an issue. I basically keep the Haub purely for merit parties (that and the fact that I don't have an Osode).

Except that he uses the 10 CHR for charming on BST.

Is it worth 30mill? :)
(or whatever current rate is.)

Yes. It's good for most of the jobs that can wear it, if even situationally, two of which he has leveled.

Oki-doki.

I feel really dumb. But Kabrakans has finally gone back up to a decent price, so this decision was pretty moot. :(

Sorry guys, the input was appreciated though, was going to go Hauberk then Woody, but thats not the case any more.

Now I just need my Halcyon Rods to clear off the AH so I can put stuff up for sale.
