I was on last night and didn't get suspended. Chas logged me in as soon as he saw his and I was fine.

As for being a windower sting... just to prove a point you don't have to hit a lot of people... hit a few with a heavy penalty and you see people start to get scared. Some say, yeah. its not gonna happen to me... but if you look at it.. it shows they're at least considering not wanting to stay on the porch with the puppies... they want to be the big dog. What's the best way to go about doing that? Start picking off the smaller ones and work your way up. That seems like what's going on here... and it seems like lets not worry about small name, low level people... let's go after big name, high level end game involved people (predominately... can't say its that 100%) Its just basically a warning they're on the prowl and we need to be careful.

(sorry if that doesn't make a lot of sense completely... trying to get ready for work atm too)

Thank you for this incredibly useful post that i definitely did not just read like 15 posts ago.

As far as getting banned for supposedly just using windower-

Thats like getting a speeding ticket for going 75 in a 65 when you just saw someone whip by going 100.
 
It's obvious that all S-E did was take anyone with a past speed hacking problem and punish them again to make it more public. Why I dunno, but it's clear that's what they did. Whether they really speed hacked or not, only they know. And no one on teh intarwebs is going to come out and say "Yes, I speed hacked so I'm guilty". Thus, you end up with topics on forums all over where people scream innocence and it looks like some giant conspiracy. I have a feeling that the vast majority of the people b& for this really did it. I can't fathom 2000 cases of people experiencing "glitches".

Actually this makes perfect sense, and the big hnm legit leaders need to take it to heart as well. They are the most likely to get banned since they are the most involved. Where as anyone of my stature would go unnoticed since I'm not in endgame yet.

too bad some of my friends who got suspended were given the reason, and i quote "Not being in full screen mode"

people gotta fess up the denial now, its a hack! deal with it!
 
Windower probably has nothing to do with it if they re-hammered past offenders. The odds of them ignoring the warning and continuing to use the more hardcore cheats are much greater than the odds of SE making an example out of them in a windower sting.
 
Square might have given their reps permission to say this:

"The most common 3rd party program is the windower."

Be careful when listening to CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. That statement is NOT the same as:

"You were banned because of windower."

If this game wasn't so biased towards Japanese then we wouldn't have to fucking claim bot.
Most of the JP end game shells use flee tool and claim bots as well.
Do they get fucking banned? No.

that must not be it tho, Cause ive never speed hacked. ive never been to GM jail besides one time for harrasment cause of a shout war i started well over a year and a half ago. So...no history of anything, mostly a ps2 player. only had windower.
and wont know till tuesday my exact terms of suspension.
I smell BS in alot of this shit.
 
I'm always in full screen, even with windower running. The window never sizes right for me and chat log screws up when FFXI runs windowed for me. I can alt tab to running programs just fine, and FFXI stays full screen in the background.
 
You also weren't banned, you were suspended. I'm referencing this comment by S-E: "Today, a number of accounts which were confirmed to have violated the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools within FINAL FANTASY XI to enable abnormal in-game movement were discovered and have been permanently suspended." I'm guessing your suspension is unrelated to this big ban of accounts, though I of course could be wrong.

sorry didnt catch the perma banned part, yeah it seems past offenders got the perma ban.
i just think its BS that u get suspended and cant find out for 4 days why.
What company out there handles accounts of their customers by giving them no info like this? Only SE.

Where this statement is obviously correct, you have to understand that people need to exercise civil disobedience when an illogical rule is put into place. People use a windower because it's rediculous, absurd, and insulting that the game doesn't do it automatically without a dll hook. And SE's excuse as to why is weak and insulting to their customers. (And whoever actually believes their explanations really needs their head examined.)

Not to mention how ethically reprehensible it is to treat monthly paying customers like inmates and refuse to discuss the terms of being bann from the game. For the amount of money you flush to these parasites, you at least deserve an explanation. WE pay THEM money. THEY should kiss OUR asses, not the other way around.

Bottom line, SE treats their customers like crap. They boil their whole service down to "Because we say so." and that's a crock of shit! We're the paying customers, WE should be telling THEM what's what when it comes to features(to an extent, of course).

It's unfair to scold people for voicing their discontent when they had the courage to defy the idiotic rule in the first place. I say keep using the windower out of priniciple!!! Maybe they'll ban enough of us where they'll finally say, "Hey, our profits are down... maybe refusing them a windowed mode wasn't such a good idea afterall."

You choose to continue to use there service. There are other MMO's on the market and if you find the lack of a window mode is rediculous, absurd, and insulting??? then seriously let them know by not giving them your hard earned money. Continuing to pay, play, and break the rules isn't changing the system and gives you about as much ground to stand on as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest when things like this happen.

Then again as far as I know every MMO subscription provider has horrible customer satisfaction ratings.

Well first of all, I haven't had an account for about 6 months now, so way ahead of you there. And for your information, breaking the rules is exactly how things get changed. There are casualties and martyrs just like anything else, but throughout history, if you don't like a rule, and the maker of the rule is too thickheaded to listen to you, then you break the rule to get their attention. Simple politics.

Not meaning to pick on your in particular over this, but it's this additude that keeps things this bad. "Oh, everyone's like that, we should just accept it." And just for the record, as poor as most MMO companies are, SE is one of the few that I've ever seen that continually fails to take cues from it's players about what additional features the game needs.
