About Action Taken Against Third-Party Tool Users : POL NEWS

Welcome to why I'm quitting. I will never own SE shit again.

Well a game and life are different to me. It would be a lot harder for me to say move out of the country than for me to switch to a MMO that encompasses the majority of game play ideals that I like or agree with. One battle is worth taking the charge of and the other isn't imo (i.e. it is my entertainment dollar and there are a plethora of things out there competing for that dollar). How exactly is paying, playing and breaking the rules going to change the game? Okay so you break them and SE keeps making money on you. You keep playing a lot longer than you would have if you didn't circumvent the issue you had before windower. SE then makes more money off you than they would have otherwise which tells them that in the end they were right.

Breaking the rules isn't going to get the rules changed having people quit in mass might. If you playerbase complains complains complains and yet never quits what is your motivation for changing things, as a buisness?

I'm not saying the fact that every MMO provider is horrible and there is nothing to be done about it. I am just saying if you are unhappy with it stop paying them to make you unhappy. In your first post you used the words "rediculous, absurd, and insulting" which are strong in there meaning. If people actually think that it is that horrible why play? Why give financial security to those that are "rediculous, absurd, and insulting" to you?

I play the game because I have fun with it. I tend to stay away from the ingame drama and just enjoy the things I like. FFXI provides me with the most enjoyment out of all the MMO's I've played. Does the lack of being able to alt tab infuriate me? No. It would be nice but it isn't anywhere near needed. Again I speak from my point of view.

Eh, most of the suspensions are for more than just windower. Not many will admit to using things like Flee, warp, botting hacks, etc. Prior warnings/offences are really what fucked Tymon and Tyrath, and likely led to the permaban instead of a suspension.

Most people that have reported being suspended/banned did things other than just windower. Not pointing fingers at people, but honestly you all dont know shit as far as who cheats and who does not. As many "innocents" as it looks like they are taking down, a large majority of them have done more than just install windower.

And OMG YES if Large is really gone.

I guess I'll find out when I get home...However, I still think it's from my mass MPK fest lol

Wow. I wish the best to those who got banned for no reason. Tymon & Tyrath don't deserve that kind of treatment.

(on a side note, kind of glad I quit now. >_>; I probably would've been banned myself.)

You will never get anywhere with that attitude!
You must devote your life to the game!

Some servers have a few missing, others, not so much

Edit: What baj said...They mustve forgotten dow's warning, lucky :P

This is my 3rd 72hr suspension for mpk, I'm almost positive I'll be banned for that...Which I clearly don't regret. I only regret not being able to help everyone who helped me so much in this game - it was a lot of fun. Wish I could share the club with my friends but I may not have that chance.

I've had my fun with this game, found a job before I started the game and lvl'd it to 75. Got one of the best weapons and had a lot of fun with it.

Right now it's like 33-39C outside, almost fuckin 100F...No time to sit on my ass at home

If I am perma banned, it's understandable and I have had a good run.

Today is the greatest
day I 've ever kown
can't live for tomorrow
tomorrow's much too long
I burn my eyes out
before I get out

I wanted more
than life could ever grant
bored by the chore
of saving face

today is the greatest
day I have ever known
can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
before I get out

pink ribbon scars
that never forget
I've tried so hard
to cleanse these regrets
my angel wings
were bruised and restrained
my belly stings

today is
today is
today is
the greatest day
that I have ever known

I want to turn you on
I want to turn you round
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you

today is the greatest
today is the greatest day
today is the greatest day
that I have ever known

Can't wait till I get home to check...For some reason I kind of hope I'm perma banned, this game is getting boring.

Heh I told a guy earlier that if I was somehow banned mistakenly I wouldn't be too upset with it if that is what it took to break the hold that FFXI has on me. =P

Now if I ended up buying another copy then I would be upset but that would be more at myself for my inability to quit this game. I'll be here until the servers shutdown probably.

It's obvious that all S-E did was take anyone with a past speed hacking problem and punish them again to make it more public. Why I dunno, but it's clear that's what they did. Whether they really speed hacked or not, only they know. And no one on teh intarwebs is going to come out and say "Yes, I speed hacked so I'm guilty". Thus, you end up with topics on forums all over where people scream innocence and it looks like some giant conspiracy. I have a feeling that the vast majority of the people b& for this really did it. I can't fathom 2000 cases of people experiencing "glitches".

I agree that this is why people got banned. But seriously, if they suspended someone for flee hacking, how is it fair to ban them for the same thing if they stopped since the suspension? That's dinging people twice for the same thing when they didn't repeat offend.

pfft.. I'll publicly say it. I've flee hacked hmm.. 3 times before? Just jokingly too. It didn't really save me time cause when I zoned it screwed up and I had to restart POL anyways. I don't care who knows it.. I made that choice, it didn't hurt anyone and I stopped. So meh... if my account was banned doesn't matter.. I already stopped paying XD

Sounds like scare tactics to get people to stop. It very well could have been random bannings/temp bans to freak everyone else out enough to stop using them. And honestly it sounds like its working.

However the one thing they really can't battle is windower. Nearly every single person on a PC plays with windower, and most will not play without it...I just hope they don't start an all out war against windower. Flee hacking is one thing, but attacking windower is just stupid and will end this game.

maybe they want to end this game.. hehe...

That's what I think too. Might just be a tactic to get people to stop hacking. I don't see windower as a "cheat" if all you do is play the game the way you would on a ps2 or xbox.

Well first of all, I haven't had an account for about 6 months now, so way ahead of you there. And for your information, breaking the rules is exactly how things get changed. There are casualties and martyrs just like anything else, but throughout history, if you don't like a rule, and the maker of the rule is too thickheaded to listen to you, then you break the rule to get their attention. Simple politics.

It is juvenile to equate civil disobendience to breaking the rules of a game that someone else set up. Do not cheapen historical significance to make yourself feel better about using third party programs in an online game. The second you break their terms of use you are no longer a paying customer worthy of any entitlement. You are a threat to their product as far as they are concerned if you chronically break the rules. And that is independent of you making absurd historic simile's and ranting about how you have the duty to break unjust rules.

Get a grip on history instead of raping it for your own petty conscience. You are not a ****ing black man in Mississippi fifty years ago. Evoking civil disobedience here just makes you a wannabe soccer-mom who thinks they're entitled to way more than they really are.

Again, don't be a soccer mom. The only thing being a soccer mom gets you is the rest of us laughing our asses off as they tazer you on Cops. You say you're a paying customer. Scream and rant about civil liberties and your rights. They clearly don't feel it necessary to be nice and friendly to people they're thinking about banning. They don't need your 13 bucks at that point. You have nothing to offer them, and they probably couldn't care less whether or not you quit the game after they let you sit in jail without reading you your rights that you obviously didn't read yourself.

Evoking MLK on them is just sad. Quit or don't, nobody's really going to care or remember you.

Get a grip. Get some perspective.

Eh, you have a point. However, this game (and a large part of its appeal) parrallels real life in many ways. Obviously it depends on exactly what kind of player you are, but many do act in similar ways in game as they would in life.

"Sticking it to the man" has always been the life force for many acts of "civil disobedience" in real life, and using windower whether against the rules or not is an extension of that frame of mind. Obviously games are different than RL, and the consequences are less severe (at times), but it still gets a message accross, and it is one that many people feel very strongly about. Not to mention that a permaban on a longtime end gamer that has a play time of around two hundred days is hardly a slap on the wrist.

SE's going to lose a ton of business if they start cracking down on windower.

I use windower because it is a convenience tool. It is in no way malicously sticking it to Square. I'd be a moron if I didn't like SE but still whored myself to their products to any degree, and I think the people who bitch at square but still shell out 40 hours of their life a week to them are silly. Just because SE gave you the corsair because the fanboys wouldn't shut up about it on the forum doesn't mean they'll relax their cheat policies for the same ranters.

Maybe I'd play less because I can't bazaar and surf or use the PC at the same time. That's about it, and that's probably most people.

SE probably will not lose a ton of business if they start cracking down on windower. Your all's bark is much worse than your bite. As if the bite of the few who think they are entitled to an unauthorized product would even hurt. People quickly take conveniences for granted, but at the same time they quickly get used to giving them up.
