Well first of all, I haven't had an account for about 6 months now, so way ahead of you there. And for your information, breaking the rules is exactly how things get changed. There are casualties and martyrs just like anything else, but throughout history, if you don't like a rule, and the maker of the rule is too thickheaded to listen to you, then you break the rule to get their attention. Simple politics.

Here is the problem your trying to compare a game on a PRIVATE server to RL politics and your argument doesnt fly. You basicly come to play in SE's house and at the door you agree to certin rules regardless of if they are fair or not you agreed to them hence if you break them you must suffer the results. There is nothing "ilegal" about a private owner of a game having set up rules and expecting them to be followed.

Its like if you have house guests come over and you have a no smoking rule in your house. By your argument if they dont like it they should smoke anyways cause they want to excersie civil disobence because they feel your rule is stupid. As the house owner you can have any rule you like same as SE owning the server.

FF XI is not a democracy you play by thier rules or you choose to give your money to someone else its that simple. You can protest a rule you find unfair by not paying them that send them a messege too. But on thier property the have every and all right to enforce rules they set up.

Sure I think it sucks we lost some good players. At the same time I highly doubt there were 2000 innocent cases. I am sorry to see people get booted but the fact is regardless if you feel its a stupid rule its a rule you agreed to follow.

Thank you. It doesn't matter what WE the players think.

"Oh, well SE should've made the game windowed on the pc so we can do other things. WoW has that!" Does it matter?

No, SE decided:
"Hey, we are going to make the game full screen"

If you don't like it, fine, talk to them, though I doubt they will listen. But the rules CLEARLY state in the ToS: No use of 3rd party programs. Which windower in this case would fall under.

Rules > Opinion.

And for the people who are like "We aren't robots and have to follow every rule." Be my guest, break the rules, use whatever, take the risks of beng banned, it's not my account is it?

Just because it's stupid that there is no windower, doesn't mean we have the right to change how the game screen is. It's their rules, not ours.

Though, yes, I wish the game was made to be windowed, but I guess it's not. Oh well :(

@ Mish. No I don't find windower cheating at all, it's harmless. But we gotta face it, like Aer said, we play by their rules and they have every right to enforce anyone of them that they made.

Winklewil, two things.

One, leaving the IME enabled on the US version of the game would've cost SE a huge amount of money. Keep in mind that while XI was being developed, and during early production, Square was on its last legs and running on empty. Granted, the Enix merge happened before XI was released in the US, but by then I'm sure the decision couldn't realistically be reversed anymore.

Two, you talk of that detected /echo being "zealotry" but the /echo in question was triggering an FFAssist feature - one that IS borderline cheating: the transparent mini-map that shows you a map that lists NM spawn areas, HELM points, etc. even if you haven't unlocked the map yet.

Yes, you can get that just by using the intarweb, but it IS on the verge of cheating.

Which service did you pay for that you didn't you get? You agree to not use windower everytime you log in...

some ppl even got banned for not logging on for a long while, like over a month? lol

i havent logged on game since 1/6/06, hope im not banned lol

based on my understanding, Windower = Playing the game on PC WITHOUT running it under full screen??

I play on PC, the game always run Full Screen, and i never got any third-party shit other than from PoL ( upgrades ext)

i wont be able to play until 17th next month, is there anyway to find out if my accounts are fine? (Not Home, so not able to log on PoL or anywhere near it)

any info will be great, thank you :)

Seriously guys...I think Miros said it, which is a perfect metaphor...

Windower is the equivilent of driving 75 mph in a 70 zone. Get off the high horses and talking about how using windower is so damn evil and use some common sense.

And stop talking shit about our friends that were banned. Don't like them? Fine, good for you. Now stfu and have some respect.

How many folks from the forums got banned for this? I saw at least 3 people mentioned.

Dozens were 72 hour banned. Me along with a few others were permanently banned, if you check BG's forums there were HUNDREDS temp banned and a good dozen permabanned. Most of us permabanned didn't even do anything, they just busted us for a "previous offense" which we already served time for, of which we may not have even commited in the first place.

Then they release merit updates the day after probably to save face considering they pissed off 90% of their customers, banned or not.

I second this...making jabs at people after suffering a signifcant loss (wether it be people losing their accounts from this or people losing the ability to play with their friends whom got banned) is just...low.

yeah quit talkin like EVERYONE deserved this, There are several who didnt do anything wrong and got fucked over. If u think EVERYONE deserved it, even those who are innocent. simply put.
Fuck off.

one bot in Castle Oztroja is still on FFXI ><

Pyoih managed to keep online, and i'm assuming that the bot is continuing to bot Mee Degi and Quu Domi

Sorry to hear you were kicked off FFXI Tymon, obviously, SE still needs to learn more about MMO games and customer service for MMO games...

I'm still gonna stick to FFXI, but i doubt i'll look at Square Enix the same way again if they are being unfair to good people

Tru werds. Its too bad everyone's busy circle jerkin about the new skills (zomg grandfawl!) to notice how much a load of BS this is in terms of SE improving the game for people who actually play.

What about FF12?!?!?!
Tons of players don't even play other FF games, let alone any Square Enix, or Square games. Take me for example. I've only played Final Fantasy VIII. Nothing else. I find most FF games just repetitive. I don't even think I can pick up FFVIII and play it again..

Not all of us are weeaboo Final Fantasy fan boys

S.E. will never care about gil-sellers botting unless they become too rampant.

To S.E. Gil-Sellers create a competition to regular players so that they'll keep paying their monthly subscription just to get the item they want from the drop... lol.
