Acc, STR, and DEX balance

More info on YGK innate ACC bonus.

A good friend of mine was parsing 90% ACC, drops ~33ACC in WS gear compared to TP, and still parsed 94% ACC on YGK, so the bonus is roughly ACC+40

Thats one hell of an ACC boost. And yeah im seeing the difference when macroing in all my STR gear on WS.

Yeah, it's quite an increase; essentially alkys ruin SAM AF+1.

Also, some would argue first hits of all WS (except the obvious slugwinder) have this ACC boost, I don't have any parsed proof but the first hits of WS I've encountered seemed have a lessened chance of missing.

Well, the only times ive missed Steel Cyclone or Raging Rush are when I get hit with a Flash spell, other than that I've never missed on either of those WS on my WAR either. But thanks, thats really good to know, my damage outputs gone up considerably ^_^

So then should I start WSn in B.Haidate?

Quick question. Guess it goes into Dex balance category.

For what instance, would using Saotome Sune-Ate +1 be viable? DEX6 Attk10 is pretty nice. (I can certainly say Usu feet would trump but alas I don't have those.) Otherwise my TP feet would probably be Fuma or something standard.

If you don't have usukane feet, usually it's best to go with hachiman feet to maintain a 6-hit build. Some people go for store TP on other slots, but they end up losing more important stats(usually haste) to retain a 6-hit build.

thats the cant-go-wrong staple. Not knocking anyone for using hachiman for that reason. but myself personally...

merit/everything else: enkidu's leggings

3dex 4atk for 1% haste compared to fuma. fair trade

hnm/znm: amir boots

more acc basically. you should still be using meat

preach to me about 6hit build whatever. a pt i was in last night gave me a perfect example why i dont use 6hit, and hagun for that matter. was a greater colibri pt consisting;

whm/smn
nin/war; tp in ninja chainmail+1...but held hate incredibly well
mnk/nin
war/nin; great axe
74drk/nin; great sword
sam/war; myself

i was able to use courel subs the duration of the party. i sat on tp to skillchain with another party member resulting in 800-1200 additional skillchain damage. our best was chain 140. not the BEST, but pretty damn good for a bardless, corsairless pt with a lvl 74 in the party as well.

now given i had used hagun, and hachiman boots.. i would tp more often yes, but also taken alot more MP doing so, resulting in downtime and less exp. the sam replacment for the dark knight found this out personally.

amir boots are nice because some NMs yo dont wanna melee all the time, and the acc helps close the level differance. in circumstances where skillchain is a must, being dependant on tp is also a must. sometimes it's just you and another sam and meditate macros should be timed together. so 6hit isnt going to help you if you just running in for sc.

now i dont feel this is a derailment into a hagun is best debate, or 6hit>everything debate, so please dont turn it into one.

im just putting in my two cents in as far as how peices of gear are situational when it comes to OP's question.

what about rutters for ws, easy to get or should the h.feet be used full time to maintain the sixhit?

taking into acct we're swapping in and out of these pieces(duh)

Whats so great about a 6hit build if you have to sit on TP at times so as to not become an MP sponge? I actually agree a lot with roadkill on this one.

i would say einhijer, dynamis, melee burns... but even then your going to get the extra 2 tp from a AoE, or diaga something.

More tp never hurts for a SAM in my opinion, if i have to sit on TP for any reason i'd rather sit on more than less for when the time comes to bust out DMG.

How does it help that you don't have Hagun? You would have only dealt more damage with it... Any NIN that is "holding hate" on birds means you're lacking good DDs.

6hit reduces the time it takes to get to 100% by 20% compared to 7hit... Don't tell me you actually save your TP so you don't get hate... Imagine if every DD did that, it would take forever to kill the monster. If you all just WS at 100, mamools go down like puks.

So then pretty much just spam ws every time I hit 100ish then?

If you're going to sit on TP for a skillchain, then no, you don't need a 6-hit build, since you'll out-TP anyone anyways. But if you're going to TP burn, 6-hit is WAY more effective than a measly 2% haste.

Unless you're vastly better than everyone else, you're also not going to be tanking all the time on sam.

i would say einhijer, dynamis, melee burns... but even then your going to get the extra 2 tp from a AoE, or diaga something.
I'd never want to depend on taking a hit in order to have a 6-hit build.

dont quite think you understood the situation.

i sat on tp to skillchain. since i dont have tp bonus, i get the extra dmg elsewhere. that elsewhere being DoT and skillchain damage. Of course on a parser, sc dmg isnt going to show as "mine." but the end result is the same isnt it? faster exp.

not pulling hate was a benifactor to a refreshless pt. i could sub war for it's obvious benifits, and could eat food for it's obvious benifits. DA, attack bonus, berzerk, warcry, a higher base damage weapon, coeurl sub and higher str. This is the DoT factor.

unresisted skillchains close for the damage of the closing weapons skill the majority of the time. so thats basically, a duplicate of the weapon skill i just preformed. if i can do that before i hit 200%....see what i'm getting at. the skillchain bonus factor.

going by what you suggest, forgo all that, for about a 100-150 points of dmg (yeah, test yourself) bonus tping and wsing at 100% on a personal scale. that is of course, foodless.;)

Well the problem here is since my main is PLD I have emnity merits that make me pull hate pretty often. Now as far as gear is concerned heres my setup (im lvl 60 so far) lemme know if i should change anything:

Weapon: Soboro or other GK of that level
Off-hand: Mithril Grip +1
Head: Sipahi Turban
Neck: Chiv Chain
Earrings: Minuet and Spike Earring
Body: Hauby
Hands: Okotes (macro in Pallas's)
Rings: Woody and Ecphoria rings (macro in sun rings)
Back Amemet Mantle +1
Waist: Potent Belt
Legs: AF pants
Feet: Fuma Kyahan

Any changes that I should make?

Gear looks fine, there's really nothing to swap out that isn't really expensive for a small benefit over what you have now.

Now, as far as lvl 70+ which hachiman pieces are a definite must have? What about solo pieces for those stretches in between pts? Any recommendations.
