So if I smoke during your parties I'm affecting you by.... wait... how the FUCK am I affecting you? Do the vibes from me lighting a cigarette at my computer travel through my connection into your general area? I guess I should really start asking everyone in my party if they mind if I smoke cuz having a cigarette hanging out of my mouth while sitting at my comp is such a fucking detrimant to my party's success. I guess it'd be even worse if I was eating a bag of chips.


Oh, and did you know that by paying taxes you are keeping our government funded enough to build more weapons to send into more wars to kill more people and send our own to death? Hmmm... O well. To be a blunt apathetic asshole- Too fucking bad. Cigarette companies don't get young people addicted, that'd be the nicotine. And if nicotine wasn't in cigarettes I probably wouldn't be buying them anyway cuz it's not like I enjoy the taste. We WANT the cigarette companies in business because then we can continue smoking.
 
Hmm I might be totally off the mark here, but anyone who speaks about "the government doing something" against their own control is probably someone who was too freaking lazy to vote at least prior to whatever the government did.

The point I'm trying to make is.. why do we have laws against things for our own protection?

Why is there a law that we must wear a seatbelt? Why is there a law that we can't smoke marijuana? Why is there a law that we can't speed? Why are there all these god damn laws for our own protection?

Maybe because the whole atittude of...
"It's my own god damn life I can kill myself if I want to"
...isn't a very good political model for running a country. Think of all the thousands and thousands of dollars spent by tax dollars to educate you so you can be a productive member of society. Are you productive if you turn around and blow your own head off with a hand gun? I mean it's your life but you're also part of a society. You think freedom gives you the right to kill yourself but in truth it's society that pays the burden. For money lost on you that could have been spent on someone else who gives a shit about life. On all those thousands of dollars to keep you on life support while you slowly die of cancer. Someone pays for all that crap you know. When you drive drunk and fuck yourself up, someone pays the bill for the disability you'll be on the rest of your life cause you're in too much pain to work. That is, everyone who made smarter choices than you pays for it.

As for in FF, if you smoke, and you don't even leave ithe computer, I don't give a damn. If you aren't creating downtime it doesn't affect me directly.

But, I do wish to dispell this myth that by killing yourself you don't hurt society.
 
I think's its funny how people say that cigerrete companies are evil because they hook consumers and make money off them, yet they act as if Alchol does not exist...

I smoke while I play too ^_^ and you should be happy cause when I'm out of cigarettes, couple things happen:

1) I don't pay attention and miss all my MBs
2) I start meleeing as a blm
3) I fall asleep, which will result in:
-- a) loss of exp chains, or
-- b) Dead PTs because a sleeping blm can't cast Escape for those links!

If you've ever played with me before, you'll know that I'm an efficient lil taru regardless of what job I play

Someone is going on irrelavent tangents. I fyou chain smoke at you console or computer I don't give a fuck. It's the ones who break chains catch agro and what not because there running AFK every 10 mins because there too dumb to reliaze running outside for a smoke is futile. You hous is gunna stink like shit from smoke because you stink like shit from smoke, and you live in your house. Just smoke inside and live in stink shit smoke and don't ruin my partys and chains. Or take the 3 days and cleans your body of niccotine and quit!

No. 1 bolded -- I want to make it clear that I personally do NOT smoke pot, and I NEVER have liked it and I'm a 70's child. With that said, the ONLY reason why pot is illegal is because the government can't tax it properly. It is now even used for medicinal purposes, and being used more and more all the time. If you say to me that's crap it's cuz it kills braincells, well so does morphine, but morphine is also used for medicinal purposes. And, if you don't think that crap screws you up, then you've never been around someone who was on it. My mother-in-law (may God rest her soul) was a very bad diabetic, (we're talking amputations and everything). Anyway, she had to be on morphine alot!!!! It's not a pretty site. And it eventually makes you not know who is who. It makes you very fuzzy about things.

No. 2 bolded -- When you drive drunk and kill someone else, but you walk away without a scratch, who the pays the bill then? Especially if you don't have a pot to piss in?
 
Fire, please know I'm not goin' after you personally, I truly do like you. I partied with you and think you're a good pally.

Also, your debating skills are very good, but I'm sorry, imho I could be doin' a LOT worse than smoking cigarettes. Y'all arguing about this stuff is great, and I truly hope you stick to your guns and never start smoking. And y'all are right I'll probably die of lung or throat cancer, but I'm 43 years old, and IF I went tomorrow then that is where my road ends. Not to get all philosophical or anything, but death does not bother me for myself. Hell, there are alot of people up there in Heaven (if we truly do go to Heaven when we die), I wanna be with.

Bottom line is I truly do enjoy smoking, and I'm a courteous smoker. What I mean by that is I don't smoke in restaurants, when xping I don't take more than 2 minutes while the mages are healing at the end of the chains, hell I don't even go outside every time there is a break. I smoke on my back deck where there are NO other people around me. I don't smoke in bars cuz I don't go to bars and I don't drink.

The rest of these the smokers in here smoke in their own homes how they so choose. It's THEIR choice to harm their own bodies. Friggin' LAY OFF!!!! If we wanna smoke, and we KNOW the repercussions that's our choice.

PS. You're argument about the above issues being illegal are moot. Smoking isn't illegal unless you're under the age of 18. And, the Government will NEVER make it illegal either, mark my words. They get some pretty hefty tax dollars off of smokers and the companies who make cigarettes. Don't let them fool ya.

not to be offensive or anything, but why the hell do you smoke if it taste like shit? Ive only tried one cigarrette in my life and I can easily say it was the most disgusting thing ive done. All that smoke inside me, the odor all aound me. ewww >< I dont know why smokers who arent addicted smoke. It tastes nasty >.>
oh, beer tastes like crap too. I dont know why ppl like that either ; ;
anyway, just to empahize this is MY opinion.
 
Yosh: I'm not exactly sure if I had previously stated that I smoke at my computer but that was why I found your post aggrevating. And yes, I smoke in my house but I'm still in my parents house (till the end of this semester thank you lord) and my stepmom chain smokes 3 packs a day so I doubt my measly 4 cigarettes at the computer are going to do much more damage than hers.
 
Fire: I see where you're coming from with these points but... so what? My example with the government was simply to relate to your post about cigarette companies and kids, also. There are plenty of other things in this world that will get you killed, too. I honestly don't know exactly how to respond to some of your posts because, although valid on most points, they make you seem as if you're reaching.

I'm a detrimant to society because after 40 years of smoking I'll end up dying in a hospital bed while someone pays for my medical bills. A LOT of people end up dying in a hospital bed while someone pays for their medical bills. Some people who smoke don't die of cancer, some people who don't smoke do. Most of us (hopefully) will end up slowly dying in a hospital bed, or in a home, or being taken care of by relatives. This just seems kind of a like a last resort post.

I don't like beer either XD

But anyways, I can't smoke stuff that tastes like crap either. I only smoke djarum black clove cigarettes. They are sweet and smell sweet and they coat the filter with this vanilla tasting stuff... heh they're good IMO. I've tried lots of different cigs in my lifetime and I can't smoke a lot of them. When I started smoking the cloves, now I can't smoke any other kind of cig when I actually do smoke.

In my personal case, it's kinda like coffee to me. I love drinking coffee, but I hate the after-taste. Same with cigarettes, I love smoking, but I hate the after effects. It's probably why I brush my teeth 5,000 times a day :lol: .

Yet another reason why I love my djarum blacks ;) I just lick my lips and taste that yummy sweetness from the filter XD haha I'm so bad. I ran out of those Tuesday night with no intention to buy another pack probably for several months. I don't know if I can even buy djarum's in CA, I've never bothered to look for them.
 
It's not a last resort post, it's simply my feelings after growing up in a family that's basically liberatrian. My parents and sister basically believe what you do, that people should do whatever they want and the government has no business interfering with your civil liberties. But something about that just seems inefficient to me.

And it just hit me one day, why I couldn't connect with their views was because the entire idea of "I can do whatever I want" is blatently selfish. Sure you can argue, it's my right to be selfish, this is America, blah blah blah(sorry to all non Americans). But the fact remains that there are laws to wear seat belts for a reason. The reason is, the government doesn't want you killed.
When people tell you to stop smoking, don't take offense to it. You wouldn't jump up and argue you have every right to not wear a seatbelt, but the two have the exact same effect. If you want to eliminate self protection laws, why have laws at all? Is it better for your society to have constant suicides than constant murders? Sure it may seem worse but there are the same detrimental affects.

Dying in a hospital bed of lounge cancer, I don't think it's as fast and peaceful as you might think. It's true that all people die, but trust me not all ways are equal.

On the other hand, if you said, by not wearing seatbelts you forfeir the right to any or all government funds to pay for your treatment, and if you could not afford it, we simply let you die, I would back up an inch here. It is still true that the first 18-22 years of your life where you were being raised and educated were turned into a waste of cash, but I suppose that can't be helped right? But I don't know, to work 50 years busting my hump to support people who who just blatently stupid and selfish in their attitude, because it is immoral to allow them to starve to death or live in squallor, then it is equally immoral to sit back and do nothing to prevent them in the first place from being put into that position.

People don't oppose smoking because we get off on challenging your civil liberties, we do it because what you are doing is breathing in toxic fumes that are slowly killing you. For whatever reasons, we don't believe it is for the good of our society for people to be doing it.

As to the idea that we don't legalize pot because we can't make money off that, I think that's untrue. If it was legal it would turn into a controlled industry, because it would be cheaper that way. Then it could be easily taxed. I'm not going to get into the reasons why I agree pot should be illegal. I admit actually that actually I have and still do smoke pot. And I realize that makes me a hypocrite here. And I'm not going to argue that, but I will say it doesn't change my points.

Pot is far stupider than smoking cigs imo I can't stand pot heads, they get on my nerves because they all act like morons. My bro was one, and most of his friends too... thank god he got out of that phase.

And if you want to smoke pot as often as you want, move to CA and say you have fucking carpal tunnel (yeah you get medicinal weed for carpal tunnel, go fucking figure)... its retarded.

heh I don't wear mine because.. I'm 5' tall and I typically drive trucks ( I LOVE me some Dodge Ram XD ).. the seat belts cut right across my neck if I wear them properly. I don't wear them because they'd snap my damn neck off if I got into a crash.
