Aion- discuss

don't think it will be an issue tbh. I got 1 full bar of exp every 10 min. That's 200 minutes per level. 16 hours for 5 lvls isn't too bad. Assuming 6 hours a day, that's roughly 3 days.

If you do whatever quests unlock for you, it'll be less.

Based on what a couple Legion buds who have gone through the 25-30 grind on v 1.0 C-Aion have said, it sounded to me that the amount of exp needed level 28+ goes up exponentially crazy nuts. I can see hitting level 26 quick (if you guys are like me, our lvl 25 bars are already maxxed out so all we need is 1 kill) and 27 shouldn't be too bad since I kinda didn't finish final parts of quests on purpose coupled with the zomg I'm back in Aion again fervor. Anyways, I hate lookin like a f'n QQ bitch so I'll stop the NCsoft decision bashing now. I already know what I want to do and if I get 30 and it turns out to be nothing like what people have described, I'll eat my words and send you guys some enchantment stones.

If you've gone to 75 in FFXI you'll be okay. That's the longest, most borin', tedious grind you'll ever come across.

Like with any game with XP hikes come quest XP hikes come mob XP hikes. It'll take a little longer, of course, but it wont be unreasonable. I'm sure they're lookin' at the WoW model (I say that since it's the most popular now but comes from other successful MMO models like DAoC and EQ) which spikes but isn't unreasonable at all givin' the balances. In WoW you could get, reasonably, 2 levels a day all the way up to 80 from 72 when it gets "bad". It took me about 2-3 hours per level my first round to 80 from 72, 70-72 is to quick to count in the grind. However, since the cap is 50 I could see them slowin' it down to somethin' around 1 level per day. Keep in mind though, this is NCSoft, home of Guild Wars where the lvl cap is 20. It wont be back breakin'. I suspect they'll look at the WoW model because they've done so thus far, it seems. Take a look at every MMO out there that has failed, recently, it has either been to slow or to fast. The most important game to compare this to would be RF Online. The game looked beautiful, it was fun to play, and seemed to be goin' places. What killed it? Nothin' more than the grind. A game that's mostly a grind wont make it in America, and I'd imagine Europe as well, that's why our servers are so different from the Asia servers already.

I don't really anticipate anything bein' hard or too long in our version of this game. Which, I guess I can admit is a blessin' since I'm past my youthful days of bein able to game around 10 hours a day, on a bad day.

Whenever points are involved it's only a matter of time before people get what they want. The only thing that would make the items hard to get is if they have a rank requirement and some of the pieces require an extremely high rank. However, that can also be bypassed (more on that in my next paragraph). I'd also like to point out that their are no "best players" on our version and the ratios haven't even been set.
You don't seem to understand. The way the system is set up is around PVP. You can't go 1-shot people like you can in WoW. You get maybe 300 AP for killing someone in a 1vs1, less if they are lower rank than you. If you're in a giant fight, you get 6-15 AP for helping to kill someone. However, you lose 5k AP if you die. And remember, as there might be 100 people around you, it would be impossible to take them all on.

This means that you will need to both never die, as well as kill enough people to rank up. Its not a matter of WHEN you will get the points, because only the top hardcore players will get the gear.

Whether we have best players or not is a moot point. We're not even in the 50 area, so it doesn't matter.

Commin' from a game like FFXI this statement is understandable, but wrong. The main problem with PvP gear bein' the best gear, or even close, is that it's too easy to cheat for. You can't stop it and it will happen. Need points or ranks? Set up a win/kill trade session with another guild of the opposin' faction. Arena got you down? Trade wins. I'm not sure what else you've been doin' other than FFXI but the "top 1%" has gotten a lot bigger lately.
Of course it has gotten bigger. What does that have to do with only the best being able to get the gear?

And yes, you could make a deal with another guild on the opposite faction to allow you to farm points, but why would you? It gives the other legion on the opposing faction a head start over the rest, and what's to say they will hold up their end of the bargain? This game is based heavily around PVP, so it wouldn't serve a purpose.

And btw, Strid, our version of the game won't be any different from theirs. What they get is what we get.

I'm not tryin' to be mean here but your entire post is awfully naive. Havin' played games with PvP in the past, not just WoW and Ballista not countin', I have a hard time takin' anything you just said with the, "he might be right" approach and will keep my cynicism. So it's really a discussion we need not engage in and instead wait and see.

As far as this is concerned:

Our build is already vastly different. Just from readin' the last few pages here you can see our level grind will be different.

Then you must have misunderstood. They are playing version 1.5, we are playing 1.1.x.

Once the game is released over here, we will be playing 1.5 as well. Thus, what they get is what we get.

And did you just play the "I'm more experienced at MMO's than you" card...?

Seriously, if that's what kind of turd your noodle came up with after that, I wont compete with that mule.

On the subject of 1.5, you got me there. I can't frickin' understand it though, which is why it's hard to believe. A Korean MMO that puts in a patch to lessen a grind? That's a kin to Hitler adoptin' a Jewish child and lovin' it.

Believe it or not, it is true. What they get is what we get, no more, no less.

I haven't read up a lot on what exactly is changed in the 1.5 version, but I don't think they're lowering the exp requirements. Problem with our version is that there's not a lot of quests in the 22 > 30 area, and thus leveling was a painful grind. The 1.5 patch adds over 1000 quests, as well as a lvl 25 exping instance, making it easier to level up.

Just for comparison here's the specs for my PC's:

Video: HIS Turbo HD4850 w/ 1GB of RAM

good god, I had no idea spirits became that huge at their last level...

Holy crap! The fact that the spirits actually "evolve" and get stronger and actually change appearance and form is freaking awesome. I had no idea they did that either.

That actually makes me want to give that a class a try... eventually.

Those pictures look so cool! I like them a lot :) Thank you for posting them!

so i'm kinda excited about this game, i dont know if i wanna beta test it though cause i don't wanna get spoiled or have any spoilers with it

def looking forward to it though

So glad to see more people are slowly becoming aware of this game. NC soft has done little to no advertising for it overseas until recently.

Heard about this game the other day it looks Awesome cant wait to see how it is when it is Released.
