Aion- discuss

Same, I have no idea what he means. Maybe because Linage II was suppose to be some super awesome mmo and it failed? *shrug* I strongly believe Aion wont fail.

That's a pretty safe assessment, considering Aion is already more of a success than most recent games have been.

This game is wildly popular in Asia a year after it launched there-- the amount of people playing in Asia alone makes it a success already. Add to that the anticipation for its launch around the rest of the world and I have a feeling Aion sees some pretty significant global subscription numbers.

That isn't to say there aren't areas that could be improved, but all in all, this is definitely one of the better products out there.

edit- This thread will help you get an idea of where Aion stands in relation to NCSoft's previous Lineage titles:

It doesn't always tell you where it is. Sometimes it just says "<name> is at a hard to find place", or just shows one of the many locations the NPC can be at.

Either way, some people are utterly lazy and stupid and either don't read the quest log, or don't understand what it says. The ammount of times I got asked in WoW where to go for a quest (when its explained very well in the quest log; eg "North west of that town by the water near the statue") can't even be counted on all the bones in my body. If this means I don't have to get spammed by stupid people asking for directions rather than just reading the quest log, it'll make me that much happier.

In Aion's quest log was there an option to view all of the quest text? I remember looking back a few times for some sort of directions or hints in the log, but it hardly told me anything. I know if you paid attention while accepting the quest you'd get some instructions, but that's no help if I picked up a bunch of quests yesterday and want to finish them today.

If you don't look closely, it seems like they don't give you anything to go on, but if you check the log usually the object of the quest is a link, click it and then usually there is a locate option. Usually, it narrows it down pretty good.

No, I mean the actual quest dialog. I know there was links to locate everything.

I've tried to find it too, and sadly, I do not think such a thing exists.

Anyone else read that the open Beta might Start Sept 4th?

That's still unofficial / rumor. NCsoft hasn't made an announcement yet which is BS with retail headstart less than a month away. On the upside, we're getting version 1.5. I've been playing the Chinese version for about a month now (3 weeks on version 1.0 then a week of 1.2) and we will definitely be getting something special.

I finally dinged level 30 Cleric last night (C-Aion) and got my new wings woohoo! Cost me an arm and a leg but the extra 30 seconds of flight time is very much needed with all the damn Aether I gather .

Here are some pix to keep the dream alive!

For those who purchase the limited collector edition of Aion (and some other version, I forget which), you will be able to use a special emote in GuildWars to give your GW character wings as well.

Speshul.

Kind of disappointed its only a week =(

Within the next four weeks, we will treat European and North American gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in Europe on 25nd September and North America 22th September. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place 6-13th September and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.

If I'm reading this correctly, 22th of sept is the official release of Aion and 6-13th is the OB. Those who preordered will get in on the 20th if my understanding is right.

Correct. And preorders can "pre-select" their characters on the 18th, meaning we can make our character, pick server etc 2 days before the headstart begins.

That's cool, we should all make one the same server and make the unstoppable legion <Waiting for XIV>

Aion is my game (unless it fails at the end game like all these others have), and I'm already associated with a group of people there. I won't be playing FFXIV, so good luck with that.

wait.. they do it by "playtime" pay instead of a standard monthly? hmm that does seem to appeal more to casual :P
