Aion- discuss

Aion is my game (unless it fails at the end game like all these others have), and I'm already associated with a group of people there. I won't be playing FFXIV, so good luck with that.

I wasn't really serious, but it would still be pretty funny, a nice inside joke for qcdn lol

wait.. they do it by "playtime" pay instead of a standard monthly? hmm that does seem to appeal more to casual :P

I wish they did have this option for NA since it gives the option for the casual player to pay when he/she wants and not be tied into a monthly recurring plan. The subscription fee will cater to the hardcore player since it is easy to use up 92 hours (@ $7.25) in a week with all there is to do in this game.

I'm really looking forward to open beta since I can bask in the world of low latency and to further tune my Cleric macro's and PvP strategies. In China Retail, Aion played very well with a ping average of 400-800ms. With a solid ping in that range, I wasn't able to notice any lag at all unless I was actually watching Genna's screen (3 feet away) and seeing that my char was on a delay on her screen.

i would say its impossible to use 92 hours in a week if you have a full time job or go to school full time lol. right now im pulling in 50+ hours if i played aion for 92 hours i think that leaves no room for sleep/eat/whatever

I haven't really followed this thread, nor followed the game. As a matter of fact, I know nothing of it lol. Which is why I might actually play it.

I want to try open beta and see how it goes. Does the main website have sign ups? And will most of the ppl here roll on the same server?

Majority of the popular Legions on Aionsource.com will be on Server Siel. My legion <KDO> is on Siel and will probably call it home come NA Release.

I think I'm gonna join Reya's Asmodian Legion and well, since Jaz is planning on Siel there's a high chance she may choose Siel for the possibility of killing him. XD

I'm on the fence here. A lot of mediocre guilds that think they will be something are rolling Siel now that a couple of people decided that Siel was going to host the best competition. From where I'm sitting, I haven't seen any guild names announce Siel as their server that make me think "well Siel might be where the best competition is". It seems to me that Siel may end up just being a crowded server where a couple of good guilds beat up on some wannabe good guilds.

On the otherhand, if it ends up that I'm wrong and the best competition is on Siel, I'd kick myself if we didn't roll there.

What other groups have confirmed that they're playing on Siel?

So do we need to download the client again for the open beta or the release or does the closed beta client update?

We will need to patch from our current version to version 1.5. Supposedly it is available now, but attempting to patch it is fucking up people's installation and they are having to delete and start over. I'm told that it should be fixed closer to the 31st.

I downloaded the bittorrent version and it worked just fine for me.

I've downloaded the installer, I'll install it after work today and then wait for the open beta before I can get on.

Yay welcome aboard Ecks! :)

LOL yeah we'll see about that. I've actually eaten 4 Templars and 6 Gladiators in the last couple days but there's always room for Reya dessert. :drooling::drooling:

I taste like cherry!

.....wait a minute

I haven't found too much info on this. So to participate in open beta, I have to download the client from fileplanet. I don't have to pre-order the game do I?

Open Beta's are usually... ...open, to the general public. So, no. You don't have to pre-order the game to test it out.

Well...I think i have to be a subscriber to File planet to get the key....I think lol.

It actually isn't that "open". The general population won't be able to join in. So you'll have to get a key, which various fan sites will be handing out if you didn't preorder, and that NCSoft will be handing out too.

I've downloaded the client, now I need to go pre-order to get my key.

I'll be playing Elyos, so I'm definitely up for joining a Legion started by the quetz crew!

Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive a beta key after pre ordering?
