Aion- discuss

I did this, still did not work. So I uninstalled Aion and am now completely downloading the OBT client... which is going to take for fucking ever.. but oh well.

I hope your DL goes by quickly! We need Ecks for our internet dragon slayingz :D

I'm on Lumiel right now, didn't know where yall were rolling, but for launch i'll switch over. I'm not all that interested in a really high pop server but they'll prolly all be high by launch

I'm gonna play Aion as well, a friend introduced it to me and I really love what I've seen so far.

Gonna roll Elyos Mage, specifically Sorcerer.

oh i randomly made my char on vaizel. i didnt even read the forum at all lol. sweet. im elyos name is Shai.

is it safe to assume that the servers they have for Open Beta are the same for launch? :3

You know, NCSoft actually recommend uninstalling Norton and Symantec in order to play AION.

While I hate Norton with a passion, you shouldn't have to remove your anti-virus in order to play a game...

Lol I use Kaspersky, norton does kinda suk. I created char on gorgos last night.

Cool :P I'm at work right now, but I play a lvl 20 Ranger Elyos-side named Imira.

No, no you shouldn't, and that's a cop-out on NC's part due to some botched programming that really needs to be addressed.

I have Mcafee and Aion works fine for me...Also Reya, me and my bro are on Kaswhatever but as Elyos lol as to not wear ourselves out before launch with the Asmo side XD.

There should be a list with servers and people put there names down whichever one they will choose. Will be easier to see and of course mention EU/NA. If this has already been done then ignore this xD

Its not AION, its Gameguard... Whenever AION starts, it loads Gameguard, which then injects all running programs with certain files to stop them. Its basically a rootkit. Hence why certain anti-virus programs will treat it as a virus.

Hell, I can't even start the game with my anti-virus program on, I have to close it down. Otherwise my computer locks up and I have to forcefully restart it.

I retract my statement with apologies to NCSoft, of course. I'd forgotten about GameGuard.

I'm noting that most AV makers leave GameGuard out of their detection databases. It would seem that those AV/anti-spyware programs *shouldn't* interfere in that case.

Iunno, I've read reports of AV's automatically deleting Gameguard files, and Gameguard still treat antivirus programs as bad programs, and thus block them from your computer when AION is run, thus locking the computer up.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why NCSoft use Gameguard anyway. All it does is make gaming a painful experience for legitimate players, as players that want to use hacks etc. will find a way around it.

Heck, most AION hacks apparently have an automated feature that injects Gameguard with a .dll file to stop it from running altogether.

I use AVG and it works fine for me XD.
