Alexander

it be nice to see knew summon even if they are "gimp." You say they are gimp because they do not due as much dmg as they prime state, but that because A) you enslave it any time you enslave something it power not going be as strong. B) lvl the summon is base on your lvl unlike the prime where it much higher then your lvl. C) overpowering SE whould not allow summoner to become o powerful and throw game out of wack. You mean you honestly expected diablos to be as stong as it prime state.

On another note there 5 terrestrial Avatars and 6 Celestial
there are also 5 mother cystals and 6 elemntal crystal
So maybe we will find the light dark crystal to be 2 of the astral candys?

Yea, I totally follow that line of thinking. I'm all for it being Alexander. ^^

When Ghatsad talks about "rotation and elongation" as well as "automaton construction" I understood why the theories. Alexander has the inclined Castle-like torso resting on the two giant columns he uses as "legs". Come to thing of it... when I was running around there, the whole place looked inclined from the inside looking out. I never got to the last floor thou...

Astral Candescences look like gears, not protocrystals. Atleast, Al Zhabi's Candescence does(which leads me to believe they all do.) On top of that, going back to the Undersea Ruins being Alexander and the whole mechanical thing, thats probably where you find the remaining known candescences later on in the missions(5 other known Candescences, 5 Remnants what,) considering that Alzadaal's Moble SDF wannabe needed great power to work, and considering Candescences produce a lot of magical energy, why hi there plot.

if I remember right, Alexander came up from the ocean when you summon him in one of the games, no?

Either way, it makes a whole lot of sense that Alexander would indeed be the underwater ruins. I guess only time will really tell.

Either way, about the Astral Candycanes. anyne else think one of them are in the Ruins of Ephramed (sp?)? While they say the city is in ruins, they said the same thing about The Black Coffin sinking 200 years ago. the reason its still floating might be 'cause they have the candycane keeping them alive. Which leads me to belive Alexander might be powered by one Astral Candycane, which is missing atm. So by returning it, he comes back to life.

On the first two, the buildings atop his "head" look familiar, huh?

yeah, EXTREMELY familiar o.O;

Speaking of which, the Nashira/Homam "quest" also talks about, what I suspect, is Alexander. They say something similar as "gathering them (Ultima/Omega body parts) to repair the machine of light back in the Near East"

Was a long time ago I got my Nashira Seraweels, so I don't exactly remember, but it was something along those lines.

Man, if that doesnt give it away I dont know what will. Omega you can kill and take some of his pieces. Ultima fell into the ocean (HMMMMM, OCEAN) so the pieces may already be near the remains of Alexander.

Now, you have a piece of Omega (lets say his heart), an Astral Candycane, and the pieces of Ultima floating somewhere in the ocean, also where Alexander is.

My thought is that you have to either:

A) Piece him back together. -or-
B) Destroy these pieces to stop him from destroying Aht Urghan.

"Machine of Light". If that isnt a dead giveaway, I dont know what is.

Now that I look at it. Alexander is one of the few summons whos design has changed VERY VERY Little.

Alexander looks virtually the same 6-9(I never played 10, no PS2,) except in 8, he was made more streamlined. Which makes sense considering he surfaces from the ocean, a streamline design would allow him to move through water easier.

But yeah, if the Undersea Ruins don't turn out to be Alexander divided in to 5 pieces, color me impressed that Square threw a drastic curveball at us.

Yea, and no FFX appearance.

yeah, the castle Alexander looks just like something taken from Aht Urhgan, and as we've all noticed by now, SE seem to take stuff from FF 1 to 6 when they made FFXI

Thank god we don't need to level up our (entire)defense, HP, and MP like in II, and we just got stuck with offensive leveling. :P

Alexander isn't in the DATs. So even if he will be an avatar he won't be released until a major patch that add's DAT's which afaik only happens in expansions or very major patches, so it surely won't be soon.

I'm sure Alexander won't be summonable in FFXI. If he Alzadaal Ruins indeed are Alexander that is. I highly doubt they'll ever let a tarutaru SMN walk around with an avatar larger then an entire zone.

Alexander will prolly pop up in an epic CS, akin to when Sky falls out of orbit,

Could you imagine what it would be like to fight Alexander as an actual zone? a Burning Circle fight at the bottom of the ruins, a full alliance there. You group fighting each arm, taking out the cannons. I mean, tell me how awesome that would be? I could imagine how fast my heart would be beating during that fight now... Faster then sprinting 100 yards. ^_^

AV < Alexander something like that

like in ff10 the sin fight when they destroyed each part? That would be cool, i would still need to buy CoP and Aht urgan tho, cuz i r teh poor
