Okay, so i'm in a pt in the dunes (big suprise eh?) and Lokkin gets invited. Both him and i are on our thf's, and all seemed to be well. Then we got a PL from a guy named Vigaut (more on that later)

So we are fighting at whitebone, and all seems to be well, then the decision is made by our pt leader, Alexial, a SAM/DRk, to go to the secret beach. Again, all seemed to be well at first.

We get there and start lvling off of pugs and snips, getting moderate exp, killing quickly. At the time we had a tank who knew how to hold hate, and Lokkin and I were SAing like madmen.

Later on, our tank left, no big deal, we got another one. But not only did we get a tank, but Alexial had one of her idiot buddies come PL us, a PLD named Vigaut. All the sudden she tells us, "We don't need to voke, just let the PL keep hate."

><;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

So Lokkin and I repeatedly tell her that no matter what teh PL does, he is not keeping hate without provoking and/or attacking. a Cure cannot holdh ate against 6 people attacking and nuking. Again, we tell Alexial that the war needs to voke, because a thf can't SA without hate control. Again, Lokkin and I are told that the PL can keep the hate.

So Lokkin and I get fed up, so we decide to show the pt what it's like when two members don't do their jobs in a pt (which is what was happening, as a thf that doesn't SA isn't doing his job) so Lokkin and I just stood there, as we watched the pt whack away at a pug. Immediately after the battle we were kicked from the pt and congratulated on our good job. Not to mention being called names and whatnot afterwards.

We try to explain politely yet again, that for a THF to be effective in any pt, they need to be able to SATA, which can only be accomplished with proper HATE CONTROL! Alexial's words, and i quote, were extremely laughable: "Theives whine too fuckin much."

WHAT!? you prevent us from doing any sort of real damage, and keep us from doing our jobs, not to mention you are actually encouraging poor hate control, and we are the fuckin idiots!? Then her PLD PL backdoor buddy proceeded to call Lokkin and I losers, to which we both promptly welcomed them to our blacklists.

Do yourselves a favor, don't ever party with Alexial, she has no idea what she is fuckin doing. People like this need their faces stomped into a jar, and have their asses violated with broomsticks.

Pretty much all there is to be said. Two dumbasses, Two thieves not being able to be able to do there jobs, two invitations to the blacklist.

A high lvl powerleveler can actually hold hate very well since they lose extremely little hate when hit. I've done it a couple times in valkurm for instance. I'll let one of the party member get knocked down enough for a cure 3 and bam its on me for the majority of the fight. If it turns, I just heal the damage it does while turned and its back on me like glue. I prefer they let me tank as it results in much less curing (about 1/10 normal) than if I have to cure their tank. PL is something of an odd situation, but your complete reluctance to even try her suggestion before quiting (not fighting) is sad and simply stubburn. You didn't get your way, so you wouldn't listen to what anyone else said and threw a tantrum. You could have still got SA in. Its not as if you need the mob to hold still for 30 seconds to get in SA. And to top things off, the exp speed with a pl (no downtime) is already going to be so greatly improved over what you were getting that the minor loss in your dmg output (which shouldn't even be happening) isn't going to be signifigant.

it was quite the opposite Rones, the PL'er was not waiting for anyone to get low on health, he was just spamming cure on everyone who got hit. As a result of that, no hate was able to be held, and the mob just went all over the place. Hate didn't stay on one person long enough for me to use my SA macro, let alone actually land one. I did not throw a tantrum, i did try it her way. I let 10 battles go by trying it her way, and still, no hate was held by anyone. We could have been killing pugs much faster with SA, instead of mindlessly autoattacking the mob. Telling a thf that SA doesn't matter is like telling a blm his nukes don't matter. If the PL actually held hate, i wouldn't have had a problem, i would have been able to SA fine.

The mob was all over the freakin place, it was to the point where mages were getting hit constantly, because there was no hate control at all. The mob couldn't focus on the PL at all, and went mainly to the mages. Even the mages were cueing in that the tank should voke to at least help keep hate off of them, but again, Alexial told us it didn't matter, the PL would take care of it.

This flame wasn't about exp, it was about the principle of the THF job. are you saying that you would be willing to just stand there as a blm, and not nuke, because someone told you? all for the sake of "free" exp? I'm certainly not, i want to do my job in a party, it was what i came to do, and if i'm not doing my job, i'm not having any fun.

I do feel better about your action now that you say you did try it for 10 fights at least. However, the situation doesn't make since. If the hate was jumping as much as you claim and the mages were taking lots of hits (you have more than 1 blm?), then the PL should be doing lots of curing that would solidfy hate. The more hate jumps around, the more secure it is after the PL has cured all that dmg. The only explanation for hate jumping that much is if the PLD wasn't curing all the dmg or was too low of lvl and actually taking moderate dmg causing him to lose hate. Sadly, I'm fairly experienced at PL and never expereinced a problem of hate going off me.

Same Rones, they need to try very hard to gain ahte offa me.

Alexial will pay!

If I ever see Alexial there will be a verbal lashing be me, to her
Never tell THF's that they whine too much.....
It's harder to do their job then it seems....some people might think it's easy, but it is harder than it looks

Hrm.. i think being a Thf is pretty easy.. as long as you dont have to explain how SaTa works to the people you partying with. Thank goodness for good partys!

Maybe while I was a Drk I just partied with many a good Thf.. I learned from what I watched them do. And so I learned how to play Thf before I leveled the job. Go me! ^^

Yes the pld was curing like a madman, but ya know what, when there is no hate control at all, and the entire pt strategy (set by the poor leader) is OMGNUKELIKEMADMENATKATKATKOMFGLOLIROXXORZ, there is no keeping hate at all. Even with the pld curing constantly, the hate bounces all over the place. I was able to SA twice, TWICE, out of ten battles, adn that was when the hate was so bad the PLD had to spam cure II and III to keep everyone alive, that kept the hate long enough for me and Lokkin to nail it with SA. In general, it was just a stupid leader that caused us to leave, we were cool with the rest of the pt, and i'd gladly pt with any of them again. But they were following the leadership of Alexial, and even when THEY complained about there being no hate control, she blew them off. and just for reference to those who base people's skill on their rank (i personally don't because i don't always have the time/help to do missions) she was only rank 2.

Seriously though, think about this. Just because you have a PL'er, doesn't mean you should slack off on your duties in a pt. The mages shouldn't stop nuking/curing, and the tanks shouldn't stop voking. By doing our part as we normally would in a pt, we not only don't get sloppy/lazy, but we turn a good pt into an even greater one because we have no downtime. Instead of this, ALexial decided, "Oh i'm gonna be a lazy bitch, and tell my pt members not to voke, because the THF's don't really need to SA. I mean, why the hell would i like a fast, quick ending battle when i can sit on my ass and watch my character auto-attack all day?" It was complete crap, and i'll never pt with her again. I suggest you all do the same.

First mistake, aside from all that, you all went to the secret beach.
That tunnel is pure death. I never had anything but bad luck in that area.

Second, Yeah Thf's do whine too much.
My search comments usually something like this:

SATA Partner? <No Thanks!>
IDLE party? <No Thanks!>
Fast XP Chains? <Yes Please!>

I refuse to partner with a Thf. If the Thf wants to SATA off someone
else, it is fine by me. But I refuse to be a damn meat puppet.
"ok you stand here, I stand there, you do this. we all do the hokey pokey..."
screw that.

Duffman.. I'm sorry, but I gotta call you on this one.

SaTa is so freaking simple to preform, I mean really. Is it so hard to have someone provoke first, take a few hits, stay still while the tank gets behind the mob. (Any good Thf will already be behind the mob, usually waiting for the Tank to get in place since they already have SaTa on.) Once thats done the Thf hits, and hate is all on the tank, not to mention the mob has lost a huge chunk of hp. This takes seconds to preform.

There are some crappy Thfs out there.. maybe you've just not met any good ones.

As a Drk/War im more than happy to be the first voke if theres no one else to do it. I love having a Thf in my party, with the right setup Exp can flow like water. Heck even with just an okay setup a Thf can make the difference with hate control and huge added dmg.

You wan't to know why some Thf's do "whine too damn much", its because of people like you who don't appreciate what we can do for you. We have to explain to people who just dont get it.

Thankfully I haven't had to explain SaTa to anyone in any parties ive been in yet. I'm sure its going to happen sometime, I just hope they freaking listen.

Oh.. and also if you have a problem with the SaTa party setup.. well.. um have fun post 60. I know I'll be having a blast SaTa'ing as a Drk/Thf.

From my experiences, both as a Thf and as a Drk.. and as a War. Parties with SaTa just do better, only fault if things go bad right after a proper SaTa is if the tank just isnt good enough.

SATA does killer damage. That is a fact.
Another fact: I absolutely refuse to be
the SATA partner.

so much so, that I permanently retired
my warrior (no more voke requests)
that got irritating too.

I don't mind partying with a Thf as long
as they leave me alone and let me fight
my way.

Dude you were a fucking warrior and you didnt want to be a sata partner??? What the hell else do warriors at that level bring to the table? Jesus christ I can understand Rangers or Bards being cocky, but now Warriors at mid-40's.

PFFFFFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

for you: great
for me: not fun

SATA does great damage and I
don't mind being in the same party
that enjoys that damage. I just
don't enjoy the Hokey Pokey dance
and the constant nagging of the thief.

and yes I do understand the mechanics
of the whole thing.
as a war, it wasn't so bad but still got
on my nerves.

and if you have to ask this? I have to ask what game have YOU been
playing? WAR is probably the most versatile job ever! Thf only has SATA.
Take that away from them and you got nothing.
