All my debuffs stick...

...is what many rdms claim, but when I hit the upper 40s my debuffs stopped sticking. I thought that i was just not able to keep up with the mobs my parties chose to fight (200xp every kill, no chains). But then I hit 51 and got the dark, light, earth(slow), ice(paralyze), and wind (gravity) staves and the debuffs still aren't sticking.

Yes, my skill is capped. Yes, I have equip swap macros with as much +mnd/int that I can afford (sorry, but i'm not going to spend a million gil for 1 extra of ANYTHING). Yet my debuffs still aren't sticking reliably. My usual cycle is shock (elemental skill but helps debuffs stick), slow, paralyze, gravity, and blind (I do bio or dia as well, but those always stick, so they don't really apply). Usually only about half of these stick now-a-days.

Then I hear all these rdms who say they NEVER had difficulty getting their debuffs to stick. Even friends of mine who I know are good rdms claim this. Is there something wrong with me or is every other rdm inflating the amount that their stuff sticks. I'm inclined to believe the latter, based upon the quality of my gear and the past rdms have on increasing their damage numbers.
I know that I get my af piece soon and that should really help. What I'm asking is if any other rdms will admit to experiencing this between the high 40s and our body af piece.

Equipment list:

5 staves mentioned
Fortune egg
Gold hairpin
Holy phial
Morion earring x2
T.M. Coat
RSE gloves
+3INT/+3MND/Electrum Ring x2 (Swapped in as needed, Electrums for Convert)
Red cape+1
R.K. Belt+1
RSE pants
AF shoes

You obviously suck.

j/k:wink: Honestly I don't know what to tell you; I'm usually too busy tanking to notice enfeebles.

I have never had a 100% stick rate. You always seem to run into a monster that no matter what you can't get anything to land on, but in general I’d say 80% of the time I got my spells on first try, and 99% on my second try. Gravity is by far the worse to stick.

The time I would typically see the worse problem is when I moved up a level of monsters, but it got better after I leveled. In the 50s and 60s most RDM’s I’ve watch have a lot of trouble getting stuff to stick even with the best of the best gear.

What race are you? Elvaan will have the best mnd-based enfeeble stick rate, and Taru will have the best int-based enfeeble stick rate. If you're hume it should be about the same stick rate (I dunno how a rdms stats are divided up).

The only thing I can suggest is... >.> I dunno, I'm a pld.

I'm mithra. It seems like my int based debuffs stick more, but this could be because i get more pissed when slow and paralyze (the most important in my opinion) don't stick :P

Hey Silver I had some problems in the 40s and 50s sticking some enfeebles too. Still do once in a while. Had/have some of the same gear you do. Paralyze and Slow seem to be the worst. Just recast them when ya get the chance. I usually get them on by the second cast.

Big boy once suggested to eat mushpot mushrooms. He said it gives the highest mind stat available from any food. You might want to try that.

But of course if you do eat that, you lose out on whatever you normally eat. MP heal regen, int boost, etc......

You can never be the best at everything. But you can improve the things that you want to improve upon.

Correction, Goblin Mushpot.

His Int is already pretty insane, so any and all Int based enfeebs should and do land and stick fine. However, you sometimes need a little help with the Mnd based Enfeebs such as Paralyze, Slow, etc.

If I am not mistaken, he has almost as much gear as me, and his Macro sets look like 5 pages of code for descyphering Aramaic into German and back into English....

His Debuffs land so often because he plans accordingly, depending on the party settup. However, even he will tell you, it's never 100%

IIRC mithra have low mnd just like tarutaru... i guess you can also make it up in your subjob...

For the most part my enfeebles stuck the first go round, but there was maybe... once every 6 fights or so that one enfeeb that just didn't wanna stick. Also I find certain mobs resist more magic than others. I used Int rings for a long time but recently switched to MP rings, I haven't noticed a difference in my enfeebles as far as sticking/resists as of yet.

But yeah.. Gravity is by far the worst to try and stick. I'd say I get it about 90% of the time though, but I'll be damned, most of those pertyons in Valley of Sorrows didn't want to be weighed down at all XD Reason being, I think, is because they are wind element birds and thus gravity, being a wind based enfeeble, was resisted maybe 2/10 times I'd use it.

I use the same enfeebs as you do, gravity, blind, dia/bio, para, slow. If there's a lack of black mage, I throw in elemental enfeebs too, depending on what we seem to be needing help with in the party (usually its Frost + Rasp).

I honestly can't think of what you could do to help these land on your mobs. My Equip at your level was pretty much the same except I used black silk neckerchief and morion tathlum. At the time I had 2x Wisdom Rings also, no MP rings. And I only had an NQ R.K. Belt I didn't care about ranged stuff XD if I threw my tathlum I'd cry

sorry for posting so soon after my last post, but I forgot to add that if you want to boost your mind and feel that you are OK for MP and INT in xp party, try using Witch Kabobs during xp. Cost about 30k/stack but each 1 lasts an hour.

I'm a 54 mithra RDM and I have the same problems, especially in situations like the other night in Gustav Tunnel, where I was the low one in the group (everyone else was two levels higher) and they were pulling gobbies. Same gear as you except for my Promise Badge and my Morion Tathlum and things didn't get tolerable until I sucked down some Mushroom Stew (+40 MP, +4 MND, Enmity -4). (I was out of Goblin Mushpot for the +10 MND). Before then I'd have to recast MND based spells two or three times against the Alchemists (WHMs, so resistant to MND even with Shock). The crabs in the area were a different story though. Things got better when my enfeebling skills capped off again, which thankfully never seems to take that long.

Everywhere else I've been lately I've landed my spells probably 90 percent of the time, and almost always in the second cast for spells that missed. The alchemists are simply evil for a 54 to face (they did drop WHM testimonies, but the healer was a SMN so no one really cared). Shepherds were far easier except for the pet leeches who could rip any of the mages in half once Sleep II dropped.

Excellent point, kinda forgot about mages often being lower than the DDs. While the mobs might be the perfect level for the DDs, mages might be struggling with debuffs because they are maybe a level or two lower than the DDs. Yeah, usually once you level and/or cap your skill off, it gets better again.

Mithra= best possible RDM choice. The best HP/MP ratio. 2nd Highest INT and MP pool. That is one sexy RDM.

What everyone, besides Phraust, is missing here nothing will ever be 100% in this game. I was a 58.8 Woodworker and I failed a lv2 cap synth. That shouldnt really happen, but the game has that built into it. So nothing really stays 100% constant.

nothing do have 100% chance, no. But Mithra is in no way the BEST RDM choice ^^ a Mithra and a hume RDM have nearly identical HP and MP pools. Mithra do, however, have low mind, and the most important enfeebles are silence, slow and paralyze, all which are MND based.

Sleep is important too though, I admit that, but RDM have more MND based enfeebles. Which means a Mithra is gimped in that area. And so it tarutaru aswell.

Gimped doesnt mean I have 3 less MND than you. Gimped means that at the same level I have like 200-300 more MP than you. Jeez man, Mithra is the best overall. I never was, or will be a mithra, but it is the best choice, hume have pretty close, but mithra is right dead on. All the hume +MP gear, translates into all that mithra +MND gear. So at the end of the day, mithra>all.

If you dont like the truth, I am sorry.

I have +30 MND when I want it, so MND isn't a big issue. Plus the mithra RSE pants are kickass as an MP boost.

It's not only 3 MND at 75 you know :P

And I doubt you'd have 200-300 more MP then me aswell ^^;

Either way, on topic. past 40, up to 58 you will get resisted. No one will not be resisted. The RDMes that say their enfeebles always stick probably have the "Resist!" message filtered out, or they miss it in the battle spam.

Thats not what I meant. I mean take a level 75 job, and put them side by side, lets say a Taru and a Galka BLM, you will see a huge diff, in a way the Galka gimped himself quite a bit.

When I quit, I was a 68BLM, Taru, and I know I had more MP than you. :P
